My husband and I are going go start TTC our first in October, we just have a few financial hurdles to work through until then. I am just wonder if anyone with similar ages / age gap has gotten pregnant or is still TTC and can tell me how long it has taken. I have read horror stories online that I should expect it to take 2 years due to dads older age. And apparently when there is a big age gap it takes longer for some reason too.
I also posted in TTC section, I am not sure if this is the best place to post.
Any help, tips or personal stories would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much ladies

I was 35 and my partner was 45 when we had our DS who is now 8.
I was one of the very lucky ones, and fell pregnant within the first few months of trying. I was overweight and because of my partners age I really didn't think I was going to fall pregnant and deep down I had told myself that!
Not sure if it was due to not stressing about getting pregnant (because I really didn't think it was going to happen!), being the right time for us , or just pot luck - maybe it was all of the above!
The only thing I did do in the lead of my pregnancy was mark on the calendar the first day of period.
I understand I was very lucky and appreciate that everyday, as I know a lot of people, no matter of age or circumstances, are not as lucky as I was.
Best of luck xxx

We were a couple of years younger. I was 29 and DH 38 when we tried for our first, took about 3 or 4 months. For our second I was 31 DH 40 and it was pretty much month 1.

Thanks so much klr75, I like you were, am nervous it wont happen for us, maybe with fertility help if we need it and are lucky. Both of us work in incredibly stressful, long hours jobs which probably wont help. I think once we get past our financial issue, we will just not "try" so much as just not prevent but try and hit my fertile windrow without stressing too much. Unfortunately it's a stressful time for us.
Thanks for your story Hunter4 too. I really hope that will be us!

My DH was 45, heavy pack a day smoker! I was the infertile one. He did a seminal analysis and our fertility specialist was blown away how good it was, actually, one of the best counts and quality she has ever seen...

I was 29 and DH was 40 when we had our first. It did take 18 months but primarily it was my body trying to adjust after being on the pill since I was 17.
With our second I was 32 and DH 43 and it took us 7 months but I had a miscarriage in between our first and second DD.
I would recommend putting your DH on Menevit straight away and for you to start on some multivitamins as well. Maybe also get your GP to do some primary testing for both of you just so you have a baseline.
