So I had a pregnancy of unknown location diagnosed about 10 weeks ago.  Went to the ER because of bleeding at approx 6 weeks,  scans couldn't find a pregnancy and my HCG level had dropped since having my blood taken a couple of days prior.   So just it case it was ectopic they recommended a shot of methotrexate.  So my HCG levels have been dropping ever since (although slowly).   A fortnight ago I was down to 30.
So they told me to wait 2 weeks before next test,  which has come back today as 42?!?!!

I think the likelihood of it being a brand new pregnancy would be slim as we have been using condoms.

I'm in a really bad head space at the moment,  thinking maybe we've had a condom fail or that I'll need another shot of methotrexate.

I guess it would ease my mind if someone else has gone through this,  and it dropped again??

Oh and if anyone wants to know what the doctor said,  it was very non committal.  Basically wait another week and do another blood test.

I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry you’re going through this awful, drawn out process. I do know someone who had an ectopic with a methotrexate shot and her hcg also went up. She was convinced it was a new pregnancy, which it wasn’t and the doctors could never explain why it had gone up. I believe she did get a second shot, but I’m not positive.
I recently had a missed miscarriage, so your struggle at the moment with so much uncertainty and stress and heartbreak resonates with me. It’s so unfair and scary, and I hope that you get some answers soon.
