Cutting costs when outsourcing parties

We book party venues where we cater the food, afternoon shift around 2 to 4. Then we only have to have some drinks a couple bowls of nibbles, a fruit platter and the cake. Much cheaper then having the venue cater and the kids / parents are not expecting a proper meal.

Thanks for the replies and ideas.
I should have said, the play centre I had in mind isn’t one of the usual types (ball pits, climbing, tunnels etc). It has a series of rooms where kids can dress up, role play shops etc). They have tables/chairs where you can eat snacks you bring, but don’t sell food or drinks. I think the tables are first come, first served, and can’t be booked.
So there’s a chance there won’t be a table available to eat at/have birthday cake. I’ll have to do some calculations on the cost of paying for coffee & cake at a nearby cafe. Or we could go to a nearby park for cake & fruit/chips etc.
We could go back to our house, but that negates the event being stress free (I get host anxiety).

Perhaps call them and ask if you can bring in your own 1x1 picnic table for cake and snacks if all the other tables are taken?

We are doing a movie party for DS turning 12. 8 friends plus DS2. We will meet at our house, go to the movies then come back here for Pizza.
