When are the naplan results out? We are in sydney.

Do you think this is the last naplan forever? There is so much talk about cancelling naplan.

God knows. There was such a stuff up this year...there'll be all sorts of data issues. Usually though, it's about the first week on August (for schools). Varies a little between states.

As for whether it will be the last NAPLAN, we can only hope (but I doubt it).

My DD is in year 7 and it was very low key at her school. She only just found out this week that she’s doing the Australian Maths Competition tomorrow.

Same for our Year 7 child - actually I only knew Naplan was happening because I saw it on here.

I honestly look forward to Naplan results - I have a child that has struggles with every day school life but generally does pretty well in Naplan so it's nice to see something positive occasionally

It is not the last Naplan. More online testing is being done in two weeks.

I have not heard any talk of cancelling it.

I haven’t heard talk of canceling NAPLAN either. We are doing readiness testing for online shortly.

I am thinking of not even opening ours this year.  The school had all sorts of issues with the online testing but as they were minor (in the school’s estimate) they chose not to have the kids resit any of it.

Meanwhile the minor issues really threw my kid for two of the tests.

Makes me angry, as high schools around here use them as part of their out of area entry assessments, and they really aren’t going to be even close to accurate reflection of anything for us this year.

I wouldn’t panic. All schools know that this year’s NAPLAN will contain questionable data.

As for cancelling it, I think that’s more likely in response to the calls being made by unions and teacher groups...particularly in NSW and Vic...than any realistic chance of that happening.

That said, those two states are the most powerful in terms of lobbying for change.

I think it’s usually late August/early September.

Just wondering if there's any updates on this yet? i know parents don't have them yet. i know the above link says mid-August to mid-September for schools but I am curious about whether any schools might have raw data yet  (think in other years, maybe not 2018, some did by now?)

I'm a government school in Qld Principal, no results for us yet.  We normally get the school results a few weeks prior to the student reports being sent.

Come to think of it, you normally see some state-wide results headlines in the newspapers the day or so prior to schools receiving their results.

According to my FB memories we got our last lot (so 2 years ago) last week

Given all the mess that occurred this time around - they will probably not be available until October! Ridiculous really

I work in a Catholic primary school in Brisbane and I think our school has the raw data. My DD is in Year 5 (at a different school) and we haven’t heard anything yet. DD had issues with the online testing (dropping out, images pertaining to questions not loading etc) so thinks her results will be terrible. They were offered the chance to re-sit the writing test but that was the only one she was happy with so she didn’t bother.

Any new update as to when the naplan results will be out in nsw?

Raw data is released. But this doesn’t correlate to bands yet (no comparative data).
It isn’t public yet.

What does the raw data give you Jerry? Purely out of curiosity.

NAPLAN results out tomorrow.

I imagine will be front page news tomorrow.

Schools will have access to their results tomorrow too, though parent reports will come through over the next few weeks.

Raw data give the score the student got, but you can't compare that to anyone and don't really know if results are good or not.  You can make an educated guess though.
Overall though I don't bother with raw data as I wouldn't use it.
