Putting this here for the hive mind benefit. But also as a personal vent/accountability.

Youngest turns eight this month. I was made redundant earlier this year. The struggle is real.

My expenses:

Rent - 55% of weekly income. Have moved to small unit from big house.

Electrcity - small unit saves lots. July bill down 50%. Have shopped around and got account with ooay on time discounts. Also $40/ft direct debit to smooth the highs. Also, no heater during the day when kids aren't home.

Phone - $30/mt pre pay. Need to look at this.

Internet - $50/mth nbn. Can't find cheaper comparable in our area.

Car - dropped from comprehensive to third party fire and theft. huge difference. Own the car outright.

Fuel - got bus passes for the kids, no more school runs.

Food - attend food bank weekly. No more stocking up. Moving to a more vegetarian diet. Buy seasonal fruit/veg.

Discounts/concessions - have done eligibility search on govt websites and applied for everything!! Sport vouchers for kids, electrcity discount, etc.

Study - while I can, I have enrolled in an 18 week online TAFE course. I am eligible for $50/ft study supplement.

Subscriptions - none!

Pets - we have always had them, but we are not 'replacing' as we lose them. This will over time reduce food/care/vet expenses.

School - have approached school about camp costs and arranged that I will pay deposit, and regular amount until cutoff date. School support fund will pay balance, which I will pay back at my continued weekly amount.

Stuff - I once had a disposable income, which I spent on clothes. Expensive ones. I am selling online. One coat paid for my car service. :/ This takes time, so I don't factor this into my budget.

Hi Mamabug, check out Aldi for your phone plan. It's on the Telstra network so great coverage, and it's only $15 per month. Unlimited calls and texts and it's just gone up to 3gb a month, which rolls over if you don't use it.
