Hi EBers

I would love a few suggestions on books about developmental changes (physical, emotional, etc) leading into puberty for DS please.
I would prefer books that give details about males and females.  Something a little less, ummm, traditional for want of a better word.

It's for 9 yr old DS.

TIA!

For my daughter we preferred the book "Secret Girls Business".  I know they do one for boys too.  Simple, yet not too simple.

School provided all kids (as part of their program) a copy of 100+ questions about puberty which also covers the mechanics of reproduction https://www.interrel...resources/books

Secret Boys Business is ok, but depending on your child, might be a little simple.  The other good series is by Robie Harris.  For heading into puberty, It's Perfectly Normal is good.  Might not be for all homes, as it has more detail about sexual identity and sexual health.

We have "it's so amazing" by Robie Harris for out 10 year old DS - got it when he was 8. It's not too traditional and deals with emotions not just the mechanics of puberty. Pitched at a younger age than it's perfectly normal, but still inclusive and non-traditional.

Highly recommend Girls Stuff 8-12 by Caz Cooke. it’s fantastic. touches base also on friendships, confidence, negative feelings, anxiety, etc.

This is good source of info on the physical stuff: http://www.cyh.com/H...&np=289&id=1828

Sex, identify, gender etc is covered really well on the kids help line website and reachout.com.

There used to be a great website called the hormone factory, but I can’t find it at the moment.
