My 6 yo DD has been diagnosed in the last 3 weeks with Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP). It's been so stressful. Initially I took her to the ED with a massively swollen ankle and rash (bruising) all over her legs. The initial flare up cleared. Now 2 and a half weeks later she has had another flare up. Vommitting, severe leg pain (couldn't walk). It's gotten better so she went back to school again today but now her foots swollen. She's had so much time off with this thing and she's so bored at home, not sure what to do?
She needs go remain not too active which is impossible as she's super active so I'm constantly having to remind her to calm down. She has a genetic condition which also means she has some minor behavioural problems so it has just been so hard.
Has anyone else been through HSP. We are now in week 3 and her foot is swollen this evening and rash is still there wirh some spots going and new ones reappearing.
We have a trip planned for next week (just interstate so can still access a hospital if need be). The Dr wasn't too concerned about us going and it would be a month since she got it.
Has anyone else experienced HSP with their child? What am I in for? Is regular flare ups going to be an ongoing thing?
Thanks
