Ds stuffed a piece of foam in his nose - my guess is that it was at childcare yesterday as there is no foam at home. We took it out this morning. If I didn’t see something black sticking out of his nose I would’ve never thought something was in there. He actually slept thr whole night with it in there. I’m reeling. It’s so dangerous . Aside from keeping a watchful eye on him what can we do to stop this? I doubt telling him not to put things in his nose  will work much at this age (2yrs 5months)

For me, it took a trip to casualty to remove a Lego piece I had jammed up my nose at around age 4.

The sight of a cranky nurse with huuuuge tweezers was enough to teach me my lesson.

yes we just had to keep a careful watch, every time he went to do it we would say “no” and take the item from him......we weren’t very successful - we came back from a holiday in Hawaii and two days later he sneezed out a hibiscus flower - a hawaiian hibiscus flower....gross....

DS put a Lego stud in his ear when he was 3.5. DH managed to get it out with tweezers. Between me and DH getting upset ( we are mostly chill) plus removing all said small Lego pieces away for a year, he got the message. He didn't like the extraction either.

Nothing I could do, had to wait for him to grow out of it. We ended up at a specialist due to a piece of foam! Didn’t notice it for a few weeks I estimate, eventually it got infected and red and runny and smelly, and the Dr got it out. It was really up there and would have been a general in hospital if Dr didn’t get it easily.

Also had to use “Mother’s kiss” twice! Once for a pea, once for a little seed pod thing from a gum tree.
He grew out of it at about 3.5

Mother’s kiss saves a lot of doctor visits. Learn how to do it. Lol.
