saving a cake

So I'm now making the real birthday cake. Poured the batter into a slice tin, but I took it out too early and on taking it out of the tin it's cracked open right through the middle. I put it back into the oven for a while, I've got it out and cooling. Do you think if I poured a thinish ganache over the cracks I could salvage it? It's going to be a Minecraft Diamond Sword, so long as the outside looks good is all that matters. (Strongly tempted to bribe DS into buying a cake but part of me doesn't want to be beaten!)

Icing fixes everything!
Fill the cracks first if possible. Then ice as usual.

Ganache will work to fill the cracks for sure!
Edited to elaborate.
Ganache can fill cracks and then smooth out and cover with fiondant as per normal.
You can also trim (Ie when you trim excess to make it flat) cake and use that with ganache as glue to fill the cracks if you are worried about needing to much ganache to fill the cracks. If that makes sense.
