Thank you for all your replies.  Good to know I am not the only one with a bruiser ;-). The paediatrician recommended I speak to a dietician who confirmed all of your advice above, ie DS is in proportion and thriving and there is no need to stress about his size. She said to keep feeding him just as I have been - no need to change a thing.
