Ectopic after BFPs fading into BFNs? Is it possible?

Has anyone had BFPs on their home Preg tests after a series of positives and still had an ectopic? I’m having what I, at this point, hope is a chemical pregnancy. 😞 Three days of faint BFPs that started fading and disappeared to aaaaalmost completely invisible to the eye.
But after two days of brown spotting, now have red blood and persistent left side abdomen pain.
BUT surely if I have had two BFNs and no current obvious pregnancy symptoms (I did have breast soreness, mood stuff, sensitive sense of smell etc while my BFPs were around), then it can’t be an ectopic?
Realllly want this all to be over so we can try again. It’s been a rough week.

I think it’s unlikely to be ectopic, but with pain I think you should have it checked out ASAP. They might not be able to tell yet but at least you’ll have started the process if you get worse.
I’m so sorry, I’ve had a couple of CPs and it’s heartbreaking. I well know the feeling of wanting it over.

If you are getting BFNs, then it can’t be an ectopic. That’s not to say it couldn’t have been one in the first place (that has since resolved) but an ectopic still has a positive pregnancy test.
If someone has an ectopic and doesn’t have surgery (either because their pregnancy hormone is coming down or they have a medication to get rid of the ectopic) they get their bloods done until their HCG is negative, as that means the ectopic is finished.
Obviously if you are in ongoing pain you should be checked out but I wouldn’t stress that you have a ticking time bomb in you if you’re getting BFNs.
