Christmas Sewing

Anyone else sewing things for Christmas? Either as presents or for yourself?

I’ve just finished a new Xmas tree skirt that I’ve been planning to do for 3 years. I had planned to do wedges of the fabric but figured I’d end up stuffing it by getting the angles wrong so I just went with squares. I’m cutting more smaller squares to make a matching table runner for myself too.

And as I did last year, my daughter will be giving her teacher a tote/shopping bag in a fabric with her favourite colours. Last year I had to make 3 (composite teachers plus the librarian who loves DD so much she can’t help but tell me every time she sees me) so I did 2 the same in a generic fabric and one with book fabric for the librarian.

So, what’s everyone else up to?

Yay - a sewing thread! Your Christmas tree skirt looks so pretty. I'm currently sewing nighties for my 2 and 4 year old nieces (my sister's request) and for the 4 year old, who is obsessed with pink, I found the girliest fabric in the world. It is pink, glittery and has horses, love hearts and flowers. My sister will loathe it but my niece will probably never take it off!

I look like I'll have some fabric left over, so I might also make a couple of scrunchies or a matching nightie for their dolls, but it depends on whether I run out of time or not because they need to be posted.

I'm also hoping to make myself a Christmassy skirt and my toddler son a pair of shark-patterned shorts. I tend to be overambitious as to how much sewing I can fit in...

For my kids swimming teacher who has been amazing with him this year.  I picked up a lovely Viole from spotlight, blue with dandelions for this infinity pocket scarf. Just need to get sewing on this one too.

I usually make DH a Liberty shirt but I need a new pattern and don't have time to muslin one.

Instead he has asked for a cap, so I am trying this one https://www.lekala.c...tern/6129#model
in some soft leather.
