Dd is in year 5...
Where do you have their desk set up if they have one? Bedroom or lounge room? Or do they do homework at dining table?
Random question I know

We used to do it at the kitchen table but as our place is open plan there are distractions aplenty. So I’ve set it up in our spare room now. Away from TV, IPad, people. I’m hoping this helps. (Kiddos are going into yr 4 and 6)

DD doesn't get homework, but her room is far too small for a desk so she'll be doing it (if she ever gets any) at the dining table.
Far less likely to be covered in mess then too.
Flat surfaces in this house just get stuff dumped on far too much lol.

I have never liked them having internet access in their bedroom so always a public area

We used the dining table until homework got serious. We had moved house so had a spare room/office/study in year 11 and 12.
Try to keep the bedroom for sleep and relaxing. Not everyone has that luxury though.
I agree with others about having internet in the bedroom.

DD has her desk in her room - it went in there at the beginning of year 7. She has internet access - and I monitor her computer. At the moment, I can hear squealing of "no way, get out". She's chatting with friends, lol.

My kids have always done it where ever they want but usually the dining table has been the easiest spot for them to just sit and start without having to tidy their desk etc first.

We had a study off the kitchen with room for 3. The younger two use that.
Oldest got a desk in their room beginning of year 9.

Ours are in common areas, so that if they get distracted with the internet, I can see and give them a prompt. One in the living area, one in the oversized hallway. Third child uses the dining table.

We don’t have a tv in our kitchen/family/dining area, so usually either at the dining table or the kitchen bench.

DD’s home work is still quite fluffy (work sheets and other busy work) so homework is done at the dining room table. I think once homework gets serious we will relocate DD to the office. Like PP, we try to keep bedrooms for sleeping and relaxing.

My kids all have them in their room (except the littlest 2 who are too young to have computers).
They'll do their homework at the dining table though if they want my help. Never had an issue and they get good marks. I know that I'm a lot more liberal about computer and internet use with my kids than a lot of people on here though.

I'd rather set up dd's desk in our front room which is large and unused but no, she wants everything in her room, cramped and messy!

Ds is now in y7 his desk is in his room but he always does whatever homework he has at the dining table, we are happy either way so as long as he does it up to him where
