By the sounds of things the dog behind us has KC - we share a fence line - does anyone know if it could be transmitted through the fence? It's timber with small gaps between each paling ...  Should I be keeping our dog out of the backyard?  Thanks

Kennel cough is transmitted by aerosols - so the cough and sneezes will be putting the virus into the air.

If you can block access to that fence, you should be right.

Also, make sure your dog is fully vaccinated as that helps avoid transmitting it - and makes it less horrible, if they do pick up a strain not included in the vaccine.

If you see your doggy show any symptoms, take them to the vet early.

Yes, happened to one of ours many years ago. She had a cough for a week and it passed but she definitely got it from the dog over the fence.

Our lab got it from sharing drink bowls at the dog park .

for most dogs who are otherwise healthy it’s no more severe than a human commen cold .

so don’t stress to much .
