I'm recently separated, and usually get family tax benefit in a lump sum at the end of the year.

Finances are super tight now, and I've just opted to get my payments fortnightly. The thing is, when added to carers allowance and single parenting payment it is a lot of money.

My income estimate is pretty spot on, and my ex DH's was not on there to update.

So two questions:

Will the payments be getting calculated from our separation date, and just my income?

If for some reason I am getting overpaid, as I've only just started claiming should it even out over the year when it comes time to reconcile?

I’m interested in this very same thing, Centrelink is so hard to navigate when you just need simple things answered.
