Does anyone know how laybys at Kmart work

I put the girls Christmas Presents on Layby a month or so ago and have made a few payments but it looks like i'm not going to be able to afford them by Christmas.

Can i cancel my Layby and get my money back or will i loose it?  Or will i just have to keep paying them off till after Christmas?

Thanks

Hi Iris,

KMart let you go 1 month beyond your finalisation day of your layby, so long as you make regular payments.

Also you can cancel the layby but you loose the fee (I think its about $3.30) but you will get all your money back.

Hope this helps.

I remember that some shops make you pay for the parcel, then get a refund... not sure what KMart does.. I hope you can work something out!

On your layby docket you should have a finalise date. If you think that you cannot finalise it by this date maybe you should go in and ask if they can give you an extension. (would not hurt to ask)

KMART will give you two extensions, you just need to go and ask for them.  Their pretty good at letting you go over the due date, plus they then give you another fortnight (or maybe week) over that to pay it all off.  As long as you go and ask for it, and they give you a new docket for it (so that it's in the computer), you'll be alright.

just be up front with them.. they arent evil people.. hehehe.. if you go in and put a couple of dollars on and explain ur situation that you still want them but that you will need an extension they will help you out.. they may ask that you come back in on the extension date to pay another small amount to be able to have a second extension but hey.. they are very reasonable.. they arent big fiery mouthed dragons.. original.gif
