Now I know this is an utterly daft question (hey I excel at those I assure you Tounge1.gif) but could some of you guys with 3 weeks olds please tell me roughly how long your babies eyelashes are?

I say this as my older DD as ridiculously long eyelashes which make her eyes quite striking and I'm wondering if Mackenzie will get them also??  Hard to 'measure' I know but just trying to ascertain if most 3 week old bubbas have eyelashes and if so what kinda length, just roughly.

FWIW my DD is 17 weeks actual but 3 weeks corrected so I'm thinking I should definitely be going by actual hence wanting to compare her with other newborns IYKWIM?

Thankyou for humouring me with this. LOL

Hi,

Tilly is 14 weeks now and she has pretty average length lashes. Having said that, when she was around 3 weeks it looked like she had none. They were so short! DH and I were starting to worry she'd be cursed with stubbley eyelashes. But yay, they grew, and quite a lot too.

So I think that eyelashes will grow a lot.

Having said that, I have a friend who's 3 yr old DD has incredibly long, luscious lashes. As I recall, she had them right from the start though.

What do I deduce from all this? That yes, eyelashes will grow as baby grows, but if you are going to have those really long, luscious ones there is some indication right from the start.

There we go, results from my 2 subject study. Bound to be accurate.

Allison

P.S Little girls with short lashes are just as gorgeous as those with long ones.

Hey Dani,
Jaanas were really long too - she gets it from her father - she'll never need mascara! lol. Jaana's were half way down her cheek when she was a bub (yup they were dead straight! ) now they are thick as and curl way up to the top of her eyelid!
Er, not much help here...are yours long? Did Miss Em get them from her dad? Are Mackenzie's father's long?

Kya's eyelashes were/are incredibly long also. They were that way from day one, she also gets them from her Dad.

I on the other hand am somewhat eyelash challenged, hehe, so they don't come from me!

Hey Heidster!  The long lashes come from me as I remember my mum telling me I had silly long lashes until I was about 9 years old so that's why I'm wondering about Makenzie's that's all.

Rebecca has lovely long eyelashes which she gets from me. As I recall she had them from day one. I have such long eyelashes that when I do try to wear mascara they butt against my glasses and make it very uncomfortable so don't wear it much.  Lucky I got something nice, something went right what happened to the rest ROFL.

When both DD and DS were born they had really short eyelashes to the point that it looked like they had none. Thankfully, after a couple of months, they appeared to have grown overnight. Now both of them have gorgeous, dark long eyelashes.

I reckon give it a little bit longer, they'll get there original.gif

My DD's eyelashes take after her father.

My MIL told me that when he was born, his eyelashes were still curled up inside his eyelids. And because they were dark, he looked like he had eyeliner on.  Soon enough they came through tho.

When I had my DD, the exact same thing happened. Her lashes would be around 1cm long now.

hey Dani,
my DS didn't really have any eyelashes at birth, but already they are growing and are dark. i will guess they are about 5mm long.  but so far none on his bottom lid, only the top! i'm hoping he'll get DF's eyelashes which are long and dark.

Ds had long dark lashes at birth and dd was totally bald..no eyelashes or eyebrows. We have video footage of me whinging about her lack of lashes when she was all of 7 hours old blush.gif . She's 5 now and has the most amazing long dark lashes.

From memory she was about 4 or 5 months before they really 'grew in'.

Thanks all for your feedback.  I would guesstimate that Mackenzie's lashes are about a half a centimetre with her sisters being well over a centimetre so that's why I was wondering if she too would get "those eyes" IYKWIM?  Looks like she will I think.
