I have been thinking about buying an electric food steamer and wondering if anyone had any suggestions on brand and if they are worth it.
I make all of DD's veges/food at home, atm we are just boiling everything, i thought steaming might be a bit more nutritional - does it make it quicker/easier?
I do have bamboo steamers at home which i have used a couple of times, just wondering if the electric ones were better.

Instead of an electric food steamer, what about buying a steamer pot to fit onto one of your existing pots?
We bought one the other day (fits mid size pot and our lid fits it) because we're going to make all of DD's food when we start solids. We have used it for ourselves a few times now and the vegies are so tasty after that as opposed to microwave steaming which we were doing.
I am pretty sure that steaming is much more nutitional than boiling though. Sorry I can't help you with an electric one though.

My friend has an electric steamer ( it also does rice ) and she loves it. Can't think of the brand ??? breville. It's white and green clear plastic containers. She won it in a competition.

i use my steamer for everything. it's 3 layers but i only ever use 2 at the most nowadays. we don't use microwave for baby at all.
it takes like 15 mins to cook apple. I also use it to defrost his meals or to reheat and I use it to sterilise all his bottles.
Ours can fit about 10 bottles. It's brilliant. and they're so cheap.

you can buy cheap metal adjustable steamers in coles, woolies etc, they just expand/contract to fit in whatever saucepan. you just add hot water underneath, whack on stove, put on lid of saucepan and turn on. just watch that the water doesn't boil away to nothing

Agree - buy one of those metal steamer things - fits into all size pots and cheap.
I have an electric streamer which I don't use anymore as I find it slow and makes more washing up than the steamer basket.
Definately steam over boil - retains more nutrients & tastes better too!
