We are non sterlisers in this house :gasp:
My DS was around 2 months old when we stopped. He was BF for the first 7 -8 months of his life, with the occasional bottle of formula or EBM. I wanted to not sterlise at all, but the midwives at the hospital talked me into doing it and it took me a couple of months to get brave enough to stop.
Next time around we wont be doing it at all. It is a very old hangup left over from ancient times (you know, when WE were babies) that people have alot of trouble moving on from. It just didnt make any sense to me that I would put an unwashed/unsterlised nipple in my babies mouth that had been sitting around in a breast pad or bra all day BUT had to have bottles that were totally germ free.
It didnt do him any harm either, he didnt even get his first cold until he was well over 6 months old.
Anyway, thats my thoughts on it. Good luck with your decision to stop sterilising, it really is very very liberating
ETA, the bottles were washed in hot soapy water to within an inch of their lives and then thoroughly dried.
