It has been interesting reading all the opinions on when life begins and contraception. I too am of the opinion that life begins at conception.
Abstinence. Is where I am. Let's not go there.
POV, you're not the only one! Though on the odd occasion when we do, we just use condoms. I really don't like hormonal contraaceptives, I don't think they agree with me and I don't like interfering with my hormones . My son asked me who 'that boy' (Torin) is when he saw me reading EB, and what he is holding in his hands!
mishym, I have just posted in the child sponsorship thread. We have sponsored 16-year-old Soule through Plan for 7 years. I am thinking about changing which organisation we sponsor through when we are no longer sponsoring Soule - any suggestions anyone? Having said that, I have been happy with Plan.
mishym (again!) I hope you find a solution that works for you and is compatible with your beliefs. This must be so hard for you . I will pray that it works out for you.
Could people please pray for my DH this weekend? He is joining us at church tomorrow for a children's games afternoon, to which the parents are also invited for their own social thing. I just really hope that people will be friendly and welcoming to him, as he doesn't normally attend church with us. Thanks!

Good morning all!
Busy day over here, I have a load of house work that needs doing etc etc
I have friends coming for dinner tonight.
Guess I will see you all around a bit later.
Sorry, I am so tired, I don't have much to say.

Mishy - praying for you as you struggle with the contraception issue. Re the child sponsership - we are looking at going through the Smith Family to sponser an Australian child. The money goes to the child as a scholarship to pay for school fees, books etc.
patscat - how exciting that your DH is coming home today. I can understand you'd be excited after 2 whole weeks! Hopefully your DH has planted some seeds with your friends. Praying for your TTC efforts.
Shell - thanks for the info on NFP. I will have to look into it a bit more after bub is born.
julita - praying! It's good to see he is willing to come along & participate. Baby steps...
Hi to everyone else that I may have missed from the last thread!!

Off to suss out the WDYT thread to see what the uneducated and unenlightened have to say...
The ignorant can be so entertaining at times... and at others very annoying!!! <_<
I might head over there myself (I rarely visit WDYT) when I have finished my housework (which will probably sometime when I have died!!!!!)
Posted 25 August 2006 - 11:58 AM
I can see how my comments could be used against me.... but I must speak as I find.
Those who refuse to hear another argument ARE ignorant. Those who refuse to be educated by at least listening to another point of view ARE ignorant.
My Dad sadly is one of those people. He deliberately ignores your statements and presses his own opinon, right or wrong. It's ignorance to bag something you don't understad. It's ignorance to not even look into another argument and see what they are talking about.
Jesus wasn't exactly sensetive either - he called the Pharisees a bunch of vipers. That's pretty insulting, and I don't think people saw Jesus any less.
If I get criticized for not being a perfect Christian because I speak the truth... bring it on! I will NEVER be a perfect Christian. I strive to be Christ like. If people want to be petty, then they can go ahead. No skin off my nose.

Hi all - I didn't realise we'd started a new thread... bit slow today!
I'm feeling great because I just got my hair chopped off! I haven't had it cut since DD was born (she's 20 months now!). It was really really long and I loved it but it hurt my head because it was just so heavy (I have very thick, curly red hair). Now it's so so short - it's so strange! I probably look a big middle aged now but what the heck - I AM middle aged!!!! LOL!
pastcat - hope the reunion was great - will be lovely to have him back!
Re. WDYT I found it interesting that the first comment in my thread about how do people account for supernatural occurrences:
Gullibility, hysteria, naivete, wishful thinking.
Sigh. But I probably might've said the same thing 7 years ago. Now I know differently but it's impossible to explain to someone if they've not had a supernatural experience AND won't acknowledge GOd. I find it so sad to think some people believe science is all there is. What's the point of being here, or loving, or feeling? ANyhoo - it's getting to be an interesting thread...
Oh and I agree about not putting down people who disagree with us or won't even consider our viewpoint. They don't have the holy spirit and don't know about grace - without those things they can't be any different. We will not always be Christ like but I just think sometimes we don't need to fan the flames... We need to pray!

OH mEEEEE!! I looooove black jelly beans!!!
THough I am supposed to be losing weight....
Funny - if the mind can make a miracle happen because you want it so bad... why isn't THIS working? I want to be skinny soooo bad.. but yet my mind can't make this miracle happen... <_<

No, POV, I am in Melb and I've heard of Nar Nar Goon. Couldn't tell you where it is though... I guess it's near Cranbourne then?
Bondia, I've noticed your WDYT thread, it's certainly moving. I haven't had time to read it yet but IKWYM about how it starts.
Oh no! I left DD unattended for 5 minutes and she has shredded half a roll of toilet paper all over her room! She is into everything ATM, I can't keep up with her.
Thanks for the prayers for DH. He came to a newcomer's lunch at church with us a couple of weeks ago and said it was fine, so I hope tomorrow will be even better.
Posted 25 August 2006 - 04:18 PM
That is absolutely wonderful! You must be so relieved! So glad you had the blood test
Posted 25 August 2006 - 06:25 PM
I just found this thread, I haven't had as much time as I did to check all the forums that I frequented on eb when I was pg so I didn't realise there was a buddy group, yay!
I just tried to read back but just read through all of #3 (talk about picking a random place to start ). So I will try to catch up to learn more about everyone, I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all, it's a bit hard when I just post comments here and there in Your Spirituality.
I just wanted to say a big thanks to POV for sticking your neck out for the christians in the Why don't you believe thread, you're a legend, you got battered from every side. I wanted to say thanks in that thread but didn't want aggravate the situation I did find that thread really interesting, I guess that it typified what I like about the WDYT section, just understanding the way people tick and what goes on in their minds. I'm such an amateur psychologist
Anyway I'm typing one handed and it really bugs me so I'll speak to you all soon

This thread moves sooo quick, I've been so busy I haven't been able to get on here for a few days.
She-nanny - great news, very happy for you.
Must be the day for haircuts, My lil sis took me out today and surprised me with a haircut which she kindly paid for. My dd's dedication is on Father's day and I hadn't had my hair cut for 7 months!! So I'm feeling nice and pretty now
Will pray for all the prayer requests over the past few days too.
btw i'm in melbourne too, eastern suburbs.

Mmmmmm...black jelly beans MINE MINE MINE! (sorry, had an attack of the gollums) Bec got my hair cut too today!... (although hairdresser Shoshoi did it -she's cheap )
Just popped in while checking my mail - wanted to wish you all a great weekend... welcome emmamc! m'sprincess - just realised how close your DD is! Best wishes for the next few weeks! She-nanny! Congratulations! and jutila saying an extra special prayer for your DH's experience of church this Sundaypatscat for your DH & his friends too after their recent conversation... if I've left anyone's particular prayer requests out, pls forgive me - I'm skim reading tonight...am finding it hard to concentrate without those black jelly beans
Posted 26 August 2006 - 06:03 AM
emmamc, welcome! Your DDs all have beautiful names .
what I like about the WDYT section, just understanding the way people tick and what goes on in their minds.
This is exactly why I read WDYT as well. it's interesting to see why people answer the way they do.
patscat, great your DH is back, and that he has had a chance to talk about his faith (and not a confrontation after all). He might have left his friends with some things to ponder ...
There are quite a few of us in Vic! Better question might be, who is not in Vic? And also quite a few pregnant or TTC. Those days are over here. I just loved being pregnant .
Busy day here. We have my nephew's 2nd birthday party this morning then the church thing this afternoon. As DS went to another party yesterday afternoon and woke today at 5.30am , he'll be a very tired little boy tonight. Have to go and make my nephew's lion birthday cake now.
Posted 26 August 2006 - 06:56 AM
Thanks for the welcome ladies
I don't live in Vic, I'm from the Central Coast of NSW. I hate to admit that haven't even visited, as much as I'd love to. My sil lived in Melbourne for a couple of years when older dd's were 1-3 y/o and the thought of making a 12 hour car trip with them was too horrifying to contemplate, lol. And it was just too much effort to organise a baby sitter and fly down, I didn't really have the cash at the time. Now she is living in Perth and it is even more expensive to visit her. Oh well, my time will come to travel
Just thought I'd jump on this morning while I got a chance because it looks like it is going to be a busy weekend with family visiting, which is nice but no time for eb
Posted 26 August 2006 - 08:06 AM
Hope you ladies have a great weekend, just popping my head in whilst the washing machine is going.. It has been great to read and catch up.
I have been hoping things would quiet down a bit but my pastor rang me yesterday and asked if she could talk to me.. Well things are not good at the moment, we have a bit of a crisis in church (gotta love a challenge) and I would say I am going to get busier.. Never mind. God has good plans for us! Must remind myself..
Please pray for us as we go through this time..
Posted 26 August 2006 - 08:10 AM
Emma welcome! Wow you have twins, they are gorgeous!
Karen sorry to hear about the church crisis.
who is not in Vic?Me. I'm in Brisbane, but was a Sydney-sider til 3 months ago. I've never heard of Nar Nar Goon - and I thought Humpty Doo was a funny name...
Oh and I can't stand black jelly beans!
Posted 26 August 2006 - 09:58 AM
I am in country NSW.. I don't like black jelly beans, actually I don't like Jelly Beans at all.. LOL!

Sha-woop-bop-a-loo-bop, the weekend's here!!
Hi to all!! Another here not in Vic - country NSW.
POV - do I dare ask why you went to Spotlight to buy milk? LOL. Would it be a bit high-school to say I am now intrigued (sp?) as to what towns you are referring to?
Julita - hope your dd didn't make too much mess with all that toilet paper! We have an outdoor loo, and if the door doesn't catch properly, our two dogs like to get in and shred the loo paper - heaps of fun to come home to a backyard covered in teeny tiny peices of paper (even better when it's been raining!). Sounds like a busy couple of days for you and your family. Good luck with the cake, and have fun at the party & church 'do'.
Sue - that's fantastic news!! Aren't you glad you did it, rather than stress for another 2 weeks? March won't take long to come around.
emmamc - welcome to the thread, have fun with the catch-up!
patscat - an hour of prayer, wow! I think the longest time I've prayed for in one hit would be about half an hour. What do you and your DH do for your quiet time? Do you spend it together, or seperately. This is something my DH & I need to work on. I get emails every day called 'Moments Together for Couples' that I am going to try and get to after dinner with DH.
Becciboo - amazing how good a haircut can make you feel, isn't it? That was very kind of your sister to do that for you.
Shoshoi[/] - thanks! We are both very excited, though the time is starting to drag a bit. Only 16 days, only 16 days...
[b]KarenV - praying. Hope the issues in your church sort themselves out & don't get too ugly.
Hi to everyone else. Another nice quiet weekend here, just pottering around, trying out our 'new' breadmaker, might do a bit of scrapping this arvo. DH wants me to teach him how to scrap, so should make for a fun & interesting afternoon!! Off now to check out the WDYT thread - have been avoiding, but you have all got me interested!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Karen : will be praying for you and the crisis happening in your church.
Sue: YAY thats so great! What a weight off your shoulders!!
Im not in Vic either, but we travel down there once a year to the mornington penninsular as thats where DH's family all is. Im also one of the preggo ones... not for much longer though!
Speaking of being pregnant, I had a scan today to check or the location of the placenta as it was previously over the cervix and that would mean a c/s (dont know if its shifted but definately praying for the best thing for bubs to happen, whatever that may be). Anyways the ultrasound chick was doing measurements and she was a bit taken aback. Im 33 weeks and bubs head measures 37weeks and belly measures 38weeks. This is going to be a MASSIVE kid lol! Bit nervous to be honest was kinda hoping itd be on the smaller side of things; but I just have to remind myself that we are blessed to be having a bub at all no matter what size
Hope you all have a great weekend

Thank you, ladies, for all your prayers. My husband has reached Paris safely and has met up with his family. Yay! My cough and cold isn't any better, but my stress level is a lot lower now knowing he's safe and not wondering around in a foreign city looking for his family! (Not that there was much of a chance of that happening, but he doesn't call me 'worry wart' for nothing.)
Vicky77 - I don't know how many others are pregnant, but I am. Baby boy is due on 13/1/07, and he's our first.
Wooble - all the best with your little one. I am sure teh doctors and midwives will take good care of you and the lttle one.
Sue - excellent news!

I hope no one minds if I jump into your group here?
I am Helen, 31 from Tassie. I have one ds (jalen) who is 2 and am married.
I have recently been finding myself questioning my understanding of God and what He has planned for me. I was raised Catholic but became disillusioned with the Church in my late teens. Since then I have not willingly attended any Church services.
Well tomorrow will change that. I have decided to go along to one of the local churches and check it out. I feel that there is something missing in my life and am hoping I can get some answers.
I would love to join this group as I explore my faith in the hopes that I might be able to get some help and support (and hopefully some prayers!)
I hope it's ok to just join in like this!
Posted 26 August 2006 - 06:18 PM
Ullo you lot!!
Thought I would pop in briefly and say hi!!
Welcome to the group Helen. I hope and pray you find a church that can give you the right answers and THE answer.
I'm worship leading AND doing communion tomorrow, so pray for me!! I have a slightly blocked ear which buzzes when I talk and sing, so that will be very distracting. I pray that dissapears asap!!
Okay off to bath the kids.
I just want to say how very encouraged I have been from all you girls. I am so happy God lead me to you.
Posted 26 August 2006 - 07:51 PM
Welcome to the group, Helen! Of course it's okay to just 'jump' into the group (well I hope so as that's what I did LOL). I have prayed that you will find some direction and answers and that your experience at church tomorrow will be a very positive one. Please let us know how tomorrow goes.
I have had a shocking headache all day today, but we got through it! Started with making my nephew's cake this morning and finding a nasty spider in the icing sugar (see my post in Venting). Then my nephew's party, then the games afternoon at church. It went really well, we all enjoyed it and just about everyone was friendly and welcoming to me and DH. I am pleased that DH has come twice recently to church activities and is now familiar with the place and some of the people. A funny story (sorry if TMI): DH took DS to the toilet, and DS said it's good to 'cross swords' (ie. cross streams IYKWIM?) in church because it reminds us of Jesus (the cross) .
LOL at Bonnie Doon and Tooradin, POV! DH and I had a laugh at that.
Have prayed for you Skipper. I hope tomorrow goes well and your ear gives you no trouble.
Posted 27 August 2006 - 08:23 AM
Morning all ... sitting here with my beautiful DD on my lap and lovely DH peering over my shoulder (oh - he just burped! Eew).
Vicky I'm hopeless with names, too, don't worry!
Helen welcome! I am so encouraged by your openness to explore a bit more. I really hope the church is welcoming for you - please keep us posted.
Sue I can't stop giggling about Poowong. We have a Toowong up here - but that isn't even remotely funny.
Jutila ugh about the spider! I had a little slug on my salad the other day. Blerch. But better than half a slug I suppose.
Re. being pregnant I'm not. But we would like to start TTC around October (so we can get the increased baby bonus, LOL, and so DD is at least 2 and a half). Last night I dreamt I had a baby girl. We named her Amber ... even though that's never been on our 'list'. She was very cute!
