Happy Father's Day!
Hope all the dad's are having a fabulous day.
I think I want to join Jane for her father's day - sounds yummy!
will and I are going to take DF on a picnic after his next nap (will's nap not daddy's - although he, no doubt, will also end up having a nanna nap when we get back! )
okay - off to organise some food for our picnic and it has ended up a lovely day for a picnic after all our rain.

Happy Fathers Day to all the mothers and fathers (I think we all do a great job).
My little girl is being difficult past few days, and I suspect her mummy has a poor milk supply (have just got back from buying fenugreek tabs). She is feeding more frequently than 3 hourly, and requiring a couple of feeds overnight . Mummy is knackered!!! As well as this she just won't go to sleep as easily.....but then I guess if she's hungry she can't. I have also brought a tin of formula and thought I might try at least 1 feed of it. A part of me wants to throw my hands in the air, say stuff it and give in to formula, but then there's the part of me which feels so proud to have managed to feed successfully this long, and really would prefer to keep BF if possible. Oh well, will see how next 24 hours go. She's just been taking so much from me past week or so that i've lost another 1.5 kg. The up side of that is I'm back to pre-preg weight.
In past few days she's started saying dadadad. There was something else she's doing but I can't remember what it is right now.
Ok, might go and do as little as possible.

Lynne - remember my sleepless nights as well....harry feeding every 2 hours during the day and night. He is back to one night and one early morning feed....wow SLEEP!! So I think for him too it was his 6 mths growth spurt come early. And I am another one with enough milk to feed Ethiopia
HAPPY FATHER"S DAY!!

Happy Daddy's Day!!
Been a semi-lurker lately, but just had to come in to have a quick brag... (hope you don't mind...)
We woke up this morning to a big toothy grin! Well, a one-tooth grin! It was noticeable yesterday, little sharp thing, but today it's more out and as I found out really sharp when I got my finger half bitten/half gummed today! And the one next to it, will be joining in any day! Why do they have to grow so fast??
Now if only we could manage to trick Ava into keeping her mouth open longer then a split second to take a pic!

Ok haven't read last thread, am going back to do so now.
Wedding was great- although 5 hrs sleep then Kaylah decides to get up at 5 then 6 then finally fed her at 6.30.
Just found out over the weekend that sis is expecting in may next year. Very excited (she's also joined EB).
Ok now go catch up.

Thanks to those who've responded re my feeding issues. I hope it is just a growth spurt, but I just felt that because she is not sleeping as well and is incredibly grizzly (for her) that perhaps she isn't getting enough. We tried to give her some formula this morning, but its as though she's forgotten how to suck on the bottle . It's only 5 weeks since she's had any EBM, and the dummy has only been ceased for 2 weeks but she was trying to tongue the teat of the bottle more like they do a nipple. Hope she gets the gist of it again soon....what with me returning to work in 3 weeks. Even if it is a growth spurt and she has EBM while I am at work she's going to need to take the bottle.
Oh well, I'll try not to stress too much.

have been being a mini-lurker myself lately as kept forgetting my password, so I eventually reset it and here I am.
Liv is going great, a bit grizzly at the moment but am thinking it's probably teeth as she has big dribbles saturating every shirt atm. But so cute. refusing to repeat the big roll of a fortnight ago - did I imagine it? But really lots of fun and starting to laugh and laugh - mainly at Dad, as someone else said.
Hope all the dads had a great Father's Day, I got the idea of someone else here (sorry can;t remember who) and took a photo of all three girls and popped it in a frame for dad's day and it went down a treat. He is not really one for presents and he loved this one. So thanks to whoever suggested it.
So impressed with Ava's new tooth, Gizboo!
And Shelly, how exciting about your sister.
Jerry, good luck with your return to school, I'm sure you'll really enjoy being back into the swing of things and even though you'll probably miss Molly heaps, you'll have your big reunion after school to look forward to during the day. But bummer that it won't mean any extra money. How rude!
Lynne, I can't help on the short between feeds periods, as others said, could be a growth spurt - or even if she is miserable from teeth/cold/etc and needing comfort? How does she seem .. sorry, stupid question, forgot you are a nurse! Just have been doling out panadol and demazin all week here and so am obsessed with small ones being out of sorts.
Yeah, POV, I'd heard the cup thing as well ... and hence tried to feed poor DD1 as a six month old with an actual cup. Was very sleep deprived so have decided it wasn;t really me who was such a fruit loop.
Kerry - hope the girls are both better, hope you all get a big break from tough times soon.
Well, must go to bed, just wanted to say hello again,
Posted 04 September 2006 - 12:01 PM
Jerry - Today is your first day back!!! Hope you are enjoying it.
Henry is being like Rhiannon - feeding all night. I don't know if it's the hayfever medication I was taking (I've decided to stop) or if he's telling me he's ready for solids.
DH didn't get a pressie - he has two healthy children, that's a gift enough to treasure.
I've been lurking here a lot - just can't seem to muster the energy to post.

Liv's been really unsettled lately too, don;t know if it's hunger or teething but the poor little girl is getting so tired from it. And showing a thorough lack of interest in solids, she should be starting next weekish as will be six months on Saturday but might even wait another week or two.
Gio, that's a really wonderful attitude about Father's Day, I love those reminders to stop and think about how we are pretty lucky. Also makes me feel a bit shallow (but not so shallow that it'll stop me from calling for a treat every Mother's Day!. )
Bye all, off to try to settle the babe again.

POV- thanks for the info about the sippy teat thingo because I do use Avent. Will get 1 and try it.
Have to admit though she was much better yesterday afternoon and last night after taking the fenugreek . She only woke for 1 feed overnight, and I'm not necessarily convinced that she wouldn't have just gone back to sleep if I didn't go into her.
Thanks to those who offered info. I know we're all in the same boat about this baby stuff being a challenge, especially when they can't tell us the problems.
Oops, just had to run off. Rhiannon was having her nappy free time and I heard the dreaded noise.....by the time I got from puta to livingroom she had already started to fingerpaint .
Carol- I too printed up some photos I've taken of Ria for my dad. I printed them in black and white and they look gorgeous.
Jerry- how was today? Not too traumatic I hope. I had to go into family daycare today and do my contract for Rias care. Only 3 weeks until I'm back at work . Where has the time gone??
Ok gotta dash.

OMG! Did you hear about Steve Irwin (Croc Hunter) he died today.

amandadaze - Yes I hear ya, it is sad and I feel for his wife Terry and the kids too .

Not much has been happening here. I have Kya's Christening this Sunday so just a few more things to organise. It's not going to be big with just a few friends and family and Kya isnt wearing a traditonal dress you would normally get christened in. So church at 9:00 and then after out for lunch. I just hope we have beautiful weather like we have been having here in Sydney. Oh crap look at the time, I gotta go and get dinner on. Italian Chicken Cacciatore and steamed rice for dinner tonight.

Phew! Man, am I exhausted!!!!! Had my first day back at work today and it was CRAZY! My head feels like it is going to explode. True to form we had the cops there by 10.30am to deal with a wayward parent. Lovely to see the staff and students again though.
I have SO much to take in and get organised for.
Mind you, I really enjoyed the "diversion". I am definitely a person that needs a goal / purpose in each day.
DP did a great job with Molly. Gave her her first sippy cup of water. Apparently she laughed and gnawed on it with her two teeth and really enjoyed it.
Didn't express all day - boobs slightly sore so fed Molly when I got home at 4pm.
VERY sad to hear of Steve Irwin. He was so passionate about his work and seemed like true good bloke, even if a little weird at times. I reckon he would have been a great dad to Bindi and Bob.
Off to relax and SLEEP.
I'll think of you all relaxing while I slave away.

Is any Brissy mums going to the parenting expo? Ill be there!
Its going to be crazy!
Posted 04 September 2006 - 09:32 PM
OMG - I feel so sad about Steve Irwin.
Sounds like a few of us are returning to work soon.
Jerry - How did you feel being away from Molly?? thats my biggest fear for when i return to work in a couple of weeks - not spending my days with James but i need to work - how sad am I?? What school are you at if you dont mind my asking?
James has been a bit unsettled too with feeding & sleeping mostly other than that he is happy. He went 6 hours without a feed today - should i be worried?? he has been going longer & longer between feeds. I have started him on one feed of rice cereal a day which he doesnt like but doesnt hate either.
Posted 05 September 2006 - 08:38 AM
Bec - I am thinking of going to the expo. Why will it be crazy? Crazier than usual?
Jerry - congrats on having survived your first day.
Cups - what exactly is a sippy cup. I "inherited" a heap of different styles of cups...which type are we talkig about?
did I mention I had sex?
finally after 13 (or so) months!!!!
We remembered what to do and everything still works....but is sore in a way that shouldnt be sore...might have to have it checked out.
Father's day was a good day
Posted 05 September 2006 - 08:49 AM
It is sad news about Steve Irwin - he was always a good laugh to watch. And he did seem like a very loving husband and father. How very sad for his family. I imagine it's going to be a bit of a media circus around here...
Jerry, glad school provided a bit of excitement for you! It's wonderful that your DP and Molly had a good day.
Dehalan - congratulations on doing the deed, LOL. At last you're now one step closer to a bubba! Hope it's all smooth sailing from now on.
Nothing to report here...
Posted 05 September 2006 - 09:26 AM
I see you down there...and there was somethig I wanted to ask you....
of course I have completely forgotten what it was....
so I guess I'll just make it a "hello to HK"
Posted 05 September 2006 - 02:49 PM
*waves* to Dehalan and now off to deal with cheeky monkeys again. Sarah has her 6 month needles today .

Well I can't believe Max is almost 6 months old, where has that time gone ?
I emailed work today (I contract) and told them I will do a few hours (I work from home) a week from Oct, gulp, I did the same with Oscar but this time I feel not as ready....if that makes sense. All a bit silly really as I will do my work after hours when the boys are asleep so nothing that much will change, except I wil have to use my brain well try to anyway.......
Oscar's 2nd birthday party went really well, he was very overwhelmed by it all, but it all went amazingly smoothly.
Max is on 3 small meals a day, we have introduced, Pumpkin, Carrot, Zucchini (sp??), Potato, Sweet Potato, Pear and Apple. All going well so far and his sleeps are a lot better. His weight is pretty ordinary he is just over 7kg. He refuses to take a bottle (tried $50 million worth of teats....) but loves his sippy cup (have only just introduced in the last few days) so we may just attempt to go straight to a cup. We are using the Pigeon Mag Map cup with the soft spout it is a good cup as you can then just buy a different top - the straw top as they get bigger. Oscar is 2 and has his own - he uses the straw top and loves it.
Max is rolling all over the place, attempting to crawl, he will kick off and drag his body with his hands but has issues with co-ordinating it all. He is also trying to pull himself into a sitting position, but only manages to do mini tummy crunches. He watches every move Oscar makes, so I know it is only a matter of time until they are creating havoc together.
It was very sad to hear about Steve Irwin, especially when he leaves behind young children.
Dishwasher repair man is here, better go.....very important man, I can't live without our dishwasher !!
