My DS first birthday party is coming up and i am stuck for ideas!
We have just moved into a new house and it is quite big but has NO YARD Our family tradition is to have a jumping castle at the childs first birthday party but it wont fit in our barkyard. So i am left wondering what to do.
We dont have hundreds of dollars to spend but will spend up to about $200. Does any body have any ideas? What did you do for your childs first birthday party??
Thank you for your time

We had DD 1st birthday in August and we just had it at home inside. I went to Spartys and hired a helium balloon kit which gave us 50 balloons up on the ceiling in the family room. Then I just decorated the house with 1st birthday hats, plates, tablecloth etc and blew up some normal balloons on the floor. Pushed the lounges to the wall, put a big mat down and pulled out all her toys and put them around the room. This included a blow up swimming pool full of balls and lots of other fun stuff. I had 7 littlies and their mums over from mothers group and just put the kids down on the floor to play together.
We had a big cake to cut which was a butterfly cake and was a white mud cake. This was eaten by the adults but looked great fro the piccies. The kids I had cupcakes for and just gave each child a cupcake on the mat and let them go for it!!! A huge mess but easily cleaned up after with the vacuum and they had a ball. I also had fairy bread for the kids so lots of hundreds and thousands all around.
For the adults I just got Woolies to do a tray of lavosh bread samdwiches and some chicken drumettes. Way too easy.
Have fun with it and enjoy. Really they don't know what is going on so just make it fun.

We got a heap of big toys from the toy library - it was fantastic!! I had the tunnel, slide, climbing steps and wedge (all soft) and all the little ones played and had a ball.
We played pass the parcel (everyone got something small) and the food was simple - fruit, fairy bread, little rissoles, sandwich triangles and birthday cake.
It was cheap and easy :>
