My sister has just bought 2x MRII for her boys. They are 18kg so they need to use the protecta harness. She has a Pajero and the seat belts are not long enough to do up when using the harness. She took them back to the shop she bought them from and the guy told she would need to go to an automotive shop and buy longer seatbelts for her car. Has anyone else had this problem?

In all the years I sold these seats, I have never heard of that problem.
Did the salesperson check the fitting to see if she's doing it correctly?

The owner of the store went out and spent 30 min trying to install it for them. He has been trained by S&S and there was no way the seat belt was going to fit. He said he has occasionally seen it in Fords as well. I wonder if a seat bet extender would work?

My sister has had to use a seatbelt extender in her Holden Adventra (sp?). In booster mode the seat belt only just reaches around but she bought a seatbelt extender anyway just to make it easier to buckle up beacuse she has 3 car seats installed.
Hers is by Klippan and she bought it at super cheap auto I think for around $50.
BTW the instructions for the maxiII say not to use seatbelt extenders... but if the seat belt cant reach around what can you do?

Thanks for your replies. I will tell her about the seatbelt extender and see if that helps.

I've only just seen this, so sorry for the delay in replying.
I have a 2002 Pajero with two of the new model maxiriders in use with no problems at all. I did have them professionally installed by Littles, but I'm certain there are no seat belt extenders on them.

edited to add that our Maxiriders are also being used with the protecta harness.

It's actually illegal in NSW to sell a seatbelt extender for use with a child restraint. When my friend had her maxi rider II fitted the seat belt wasnt long enough so she had to fogoe the protecta harness and use the seat belt.

My sister took her car and MRII seats to the automotive place today. She needs to get new seatblets and they are going to cost $206 each. She was told she can't use a seat belt extender at all, I think they said they don't match or something. She has an old Pajero, apparently from 1996 the seat belts are a bit longer. She's not comfortable with putting her boys straight into the seatbelt instead of the protecta harness as they are only 2y 9mo. Thanks for your replies.
