Has anyone seen the ABC show Brat Camp? I saw it on ABC 2 for the first time last night....
I found it entertaining, but pretty full on at the same time
Just wanting to hear some opinions on the show and also wondering if people think these methods would actually work with bratty teenagers??

I watched the first series in the UK and felt really sorry for the kids. I wasn't convinced it worked either from the follow up stories. It looked to me like a fairly unsophisticated and brutal way of trying to break their spirit dressed up as "teaching them responsibility". Rules like "no piercings" just seemed stupid and bullying to me.
I don't know which is worse: being made to camp outside in winter or being patronised by ponytailed (Anglo) men called Running Wolf.

I detest it, I find it vile and repulsive that parents would parade their children on TV like that and completely focus on how bad they are feeling. I hate the tactics and feel that for most any effects would be short lived, if not negative. For most that it has any affect on it is most likely because they are being paid attention to.
I am appalled that the ABC is sinking to this reality show bullsh*t level.

I personally think that the conditions they were exposed to would drive anyone insane. I know I could not cope even one night there!
I can remember being a difficult teenager myself and I really don't think going to a 'brat camp' would have done the slightest good to me at all.
However I must be slightly evil though as I did get entertainment value out of it I think that may have something to do with my 17yo sister who is an absolute nightmare and making my pregnancy very stressful though. I kept picturing sending her there! (just joking, kinda! )

I saw a bit of it when it was on ABC tv a few months ago.
I think for kids who are totally out of line it would be worth a try. I don't see any harm in teaching them that they do have to follow rules and that there will be consequences if they don't.
The kids on it are teenagers. They have consented to go and they aren't just 'brats' they are really full on.
I only watched it during the ads while I was watching something else so I'm not sure about all of the stuff that they did, but some of the kids seemed to shape up pretty quickly and got rewarded for it. You could just see how proud of themselves they were
There was one girl who used to just throw used sanitary napkins and stuff on the floor, refused to flush the loo told her parents to f**k off and slapped and spat at them.
I honestly don't see how a bit of camping outside is going to harm them. If they did the right thing they got to sleep in the lodge.
My only doubt would be whether it would make any difference to their behaviour when they got home.

I watched the second series and I found it interesting. I don't know too many teenagers and was really quite shocked that some could be that way. Unfortunately, I have since discovered one of the teenagers that I do know is turning out to be a candidate for this show. Her mother is at the end of her tether and does not know what to do. I'm not sure that the "treatment" was the best but for some of those kids it seemed to work and others it didn't. I think if you were as desperate as those parents seemed to be you'd try almost anything. No way would I allow my child to be filmed though.

Brat Camp...the solutiuon for wealthy parents. Just throw money at the problem of your badly behaving teenager and it will all go away. I mean no one thimks that the camp takes the kids out of the kindness of their hearts. I bet it costs quite a lot to send your kids there.
Seems like a cop out.
