***Here is my update.  Saw the ENT today, took in my sinus scans which were clear, talked to him the usual stuff, burst into tears from all the pain and losses I have had, sooooooooooooooo, he says I have tension headaches and prescribes an anti depressant.  So I am not happy, back tp my GP tomorrow.  I think Carmen02 was correct, he is a pathetic excuse for a specialist.  By making me angry he seems to have cured me for a bit, but I feel the pain killers wearing off.  I no longer think its an ENT prob tho as my catscans came thru clear.***

I have been trying to get in to see an ENT for myself for weeks and the soonest I can see one is the 29th Jan or the 22nd Feb!!.

I am in huge pain and have been on painkillers for 3 weeks now.  Have had no sleep either and physio gives some relief but at $56 a visit its not cheap.

Has anyone been to an ENT they can recommend?  I am finding that most are on holidays atm  rant.gif .  Although they deserve a break, so they all need to go at the same time?

Referral not a prob!  Will try giving him a call now.

On holidays until 14th January.  Grrrrrrrrr.  Tried calling the ENT appt I have to bring it forward too, but they are also on holiday.

My only hope is to go to emergency at hospital and wait and wait.  Spoke to my physio about this and she said I would be such a low priority, I would just sit there and wait for ages.  But if it gets me to see an ENT earlier, it may be my only option.

The Drs think I have Trigeminal Neuralgia, I also have a benign tumour near my right jaw.  The pain is horrendous even after painkillers and nurofen.  DH back at work this week so harder for me, no time to rest sad.gif.  Sorry to whine.

Agree that Dr Kwong Lew is a great ENT, but the wait will be a long one.
I booked my DD2 in with him - I got the referral mid dec, and the earliest I could get her in was 20 Feb.

I really feel for you Sophie, I've had the same thing - you can get some pretty strong medication for it, just from your GP. It will really help, sorry I can't remember the name of it.

If you can get the kids looked after for the day, go sit in emergency and wait to be seen. I got in to see an ENT for Isaac in a week at Joondalup - Dr Shyan Vijayasekaran.

I can recommend Pek Goh, he is in West Perth. He has a very straight-up manner, I like that in a Dr original.gif

I hope you get in to see someone soon, sounds terrible sad.gif If it was me in that much pain I would head off to emergency. At least the hospital is airconditioned, worse places to be on such a hot day!

Back to the Dr tomorrow anyway.

Shyan has been Riley's ENT since he was born. He is fantastic, lovely bedside manner with children. He has a big pull at PMH and if something needs to be done he will get you in no problems. He goes out of his way to check on his patients too, often calling home to check on Riley in between monthly visits.

hope you can get some relief soon. My Grandmother has had that for years and no one has been able to help her. But, a friends mum had it and was quickly helped, so hope you are too.

We also see Dr Cooney and yes he is a bit of alright (even my referring Dr said he was nice to look at  laughing2.gif )  I thought he only saw children?

Just to defend Tim, I havent found that he has been surgery happy, we have been seeing him for close on to 2 years now and DS#2 who suffered from chronic recurrent glue ear and associated deafness was only operated on 5 mths ago as Tim didnt want to operate if the condition cleared on its own - which it did for a month or so.

DS#3 will be having grommets on 11 Jan after having glue ear almost continually for the past 12/18 mths.  Tim was happy to wait to see how things panned out but as DS has had another infection the op now needs to be done to avoid permanent damage.
Tim & the other ENT in the office are on leave until Monday.

Sorry Op to take over your thread.
I hope you find an ENT soon and get relief.

Pek Goh, he is in West Perth.....they can put you on an emergency waiting list, and you usually get in pretty quick.  Even though they say a 12 month waiting list, I've only ever waited 8 weeks for the kids.

I saw Tim Cooney for my tonsils and he's not op happy at all I found! I was kinda annoyed about it Tounge1.gif So yes, he does see adults too.

He IS lovely and because he's also a kids ENT surgeon his office was filled with great stuff to keep my son happy.

Oh and yes, he is a bit of all right too Tounge1.gif

Got an earlier appointment, next week on Tuesday with Dr Ian Mitchell in South Perth.  They had me on emergency wait list and got me in on his 2nd day back.

Saw my normal Dr today and I am on very strong muscle relaxing drugs and valium  cry1.gif .  With those and the pain killers I hope I get some relief.

Hi Sophie, I am not sure if it will help you in your situation, but  have you tried a naturopath. I took my ds2 to one  and since getting some potions, seems to be alot better and his ear and nose probs have cleared and not returned. I know your prob is a little bit more complicated but thought it might help you.
Good luck and am thinking of you
