My little boy had chicken pox exactly this time last year. It's not the nicest no.
Was planning to get the vax done but didn't get it in time before he was exposed to a carrier. Still, the next day, took him to GP and got him a needle and when he did get it, it was a milder case. So even if they do get it, hopefully it will be mild.
Have heard that it can have complications. Keep fluids up, lots of rest and definate isolation to avoid passing it on, but also to not catch other infections on top of it.
My chemist advised not to use calamine lotion as it dries the scabs out and increases chance of scarring.
Advised to use chickweed gel or chickweed lotion (both at the chemist in natural section) to keep moist and help with itching. It really did work as Nick wasn't that itchy and didn't get one scar.
Pine tar lotion in a bath is also good.
Good luck and hope 'this is something they don't get.
