I was thinking this morning about that one of my favourite presents I ever received was (at age 13).............
a Winona Ryder Calendar :xmas_ninja:
How embarassing to admit that - but I was so happy that my Mum went to so much trouble to find it for me - I LOVED Winona Ryder! There is a very dodgy looking photo of me posing with it on Christmas morning. :xmas_tongue: That year I also got a carton of diet coke which I stashed under my bed and would put in the fridge one at a time when I wanted one (we were never allowed to drink it usually).
But no one an top that! :xmas_laugh:

My barbies were all awesome presents. At the time, I just thought they were great. And my remote control car - loved it!

Certainly a good thread. I got all the bells and whistles as a child, maybe too much, as my mum overcompensated with things, to make up for our circumstances (she was in a wheelchair and my dad died when I was a baby) and I don't remember any stand out presents at all.

When I was 6 I got a dolls cradle. It was beautiful-all white and pink and topped off with a canopy. It even had a mattress.
Found out later my dad had made it for me, and mum sewed the canopy. My DDs now use it.
That same year, I got a huge barbie house. 3 levels and some furniture.
That day when we went to visit my grandparents, they gave me a couple of new barbies and a bedroom suite complete with little blanket and pillow.
I was amazed with the coincidence and couldn't believe how lucky it was that santa had given me the house to put the new furniture in.... :xmas_laugh:

A Cabbage Patch doll. I wanted a girl with long blonde hair and a dummy and that is exactly what I got. I named her Sarah Marie.

A snow dome of the nativity scene when I was five. And the same year a bridal dress for my doll Betsy.

When I was about 12 I got a mountain bike, we went outside to try it and my BIL who was 23 at the time (i have much older siblings) had the first go and got a puncture so I never got a turn as my dad didnt have a puncture kit to fix it that day.
My sister also got a bmx bike for her 12th birthday (in 1981) and mum and dad said one condition was that she never rode it up to the deli up the road. Well what did do... rode it up there and the first time she did it got stolen the second she walked into the shop.
Mum and Dad didnt have much luck with buying us bikes LOL

A BFP (second child) after several miscarriages.
When I was a kid, nothing stands out out of my presents but I have fond memories of all the preparations leading up to Christmas. It's not a tradition in this country but where I come from we used to sing carols to homes up and down our street, went to midnight mass on Christmas Eve and after that went home to a big feast and opened our presents before going to bed usually at 3 in the morning :xmas_happy: .

I was given a Baby Alive doll for christmas when I was 6. I desperatly wanted it, and it came in a pack with the doll along with a BA change kit & bassinett which turned into a highchair.
I was the happiest kid that day and she was my constant companion until I was about 12 when I became too cool for my good friend Baby Alive. but she now lives in my cupboard along with the rest of my doll collection.

My Velvet Doll -the 1970's doll with the pull-out hair! :xmas_tongue:

OMG! Velvet doll! I had one of those...in fact I think I still have it packed away. I thought I'd have a girl one day and give to her...I have two boys sigh! LOL!
Well I think the best present I got as a child is Tiffany Taylor doll. You would spin her hair one way and she was blonde and the other way and she was brunette! :xmas_eek: Weird but I loved her!

The best present I fondly remember receiving (though hard to pick one!) would be my 72 pack of derwents. I still remember walking in and looking at them (we used to have a traditional German Christmas Eve). In fact if I close my eyes, I can still imagine the moment

A new saddle when I was about 5, and probably again when I was 12?
A new bridle I got when I was 6, was used continually, when my niece started riding it was used again.
Whoa surfygirl, a 72 pack of derwents, that is AWESOME

Commodore 64. I was so excited, what AMAZING technology! :xmas_ohmy:

Oh, a 72 pack of Derwents! I would have fainted!
The present I remember most was a pile of Barbie clothes. Most of my presents were wrapped individually but one year I opened one present and what seemed like 100 packets of Barbie clothes fell out (it was probably about 15). I couldn't believe it.
My Cabbage Patch Kid, Grace Elaine, was a biggie too.
When I was 12, I got a small Sony stereo. I remember trying to drag my Santa sack up the stairs with it in it (I couldn't walk at the time) but it was too heavy. 23 years later it still works and we use it when we are in the garden.

Oh too many to mention but definitely the Barbies I used to get every year! And my Family Tree House, and my Barbie styling head, I used to love that thing :xmas_laugh:
