How long does it last?

Hi. I am currently miscarrying my baby. I was 5-6 weeks along.
I was spotting from the day I got the BFP, and bleeding started Thursday night. By Friday night it was heavy with some clotting. Since then I have had a rather heavy bleed with lots of clots.
How long can I expect the clots & heavy bleeding to last?
Do I go to the doc for bloood tests or ultrasound after that?
How long is advisable to wait before ttc, or is this different for everyone? Emotional I am quite ok (though it was a much wanted baby), so I feel ready to ttc again soon, but not sure if this will increase my risk of m/c again?

I miscarried last Sunday and the bleeding has stopped now. My Ob wants me to have a blood test next Monday (02/02/09) to check HCG levels to make sure they have dropped appropriately and then I will see him about 4-6 weeks after. My Ob said he likes the blood test to confirm everything is back to normal so could be a good thing for your GP to request. Not sure about when everything goes back to normal as this is different to my previous losses, but with those I had AF 28 days after each loss - so was back normal fairly quickly.
I know after my twins that I was told I could try straight away - we waited one cycle before trying again.
So sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I think the amount and duration of bleeding varies a lot between individuals but hopefully as you were only 6 weeks along it should not last more than a few days.
I had my last miscarriage at about 6 weeks and from memory the bleeding lasted about a week and was no worse than a heavy period. Afterwards, I had weekly blood tests to track my Hcg levels down to zero.
I think it is a good idea to see your doctor afterwards for follow up care.
As to trying again, the usual advice is to wait until after your next period.
