Phooey to you Jannette Gold blrrrgghhhhh

Silver to me.

Gina a lot happier today had a hot weather melt down extrodannaire who knows may get my period in the next couple of days no-one will be surprised lol.

Got some stuff for my party am having it have sent the invites will be weird if I don't. Someone will think I am having a turning 40 melt down not me people around think I am turning 30 who would of ever thought I would have thought that was a compliment.

Daisy is fine has been made quite clear to the boy regarding the msn that I was disgusted (gotta love her friends who she has known since they were 4) he has said it was his cousin but whatever. She has tuned into why I got upset which is the main thing. Says she loves school, socialising I say, but I keep on her to keep the work load up she has to get all a's and b's this year (so does one of her friends) and I will take them to Melbourne (or Sydney) for a weekend.  wink.gif I know they are capable of it so I want results. D did not fail anything last year just want better grades.

R a lot better he scared the clappers out of us but all better and happier now was a lot happier a big solid pooh yesterday. Very whingy before that and with the mood I was in, I was yelling a lot, didn't help. He slept the rest of the day so a lot better.

Just to add just PMSL laughing at your responses to my grumpiness I will meet any of you 1/2 way just not Michelle as the nullarbor as a meeting place NOT really my thing lol

My baby girl is 6 today!!!!  She is so funny, yesterday in the morning she asks "Shall I get my uniform ready, shall I get my shoes out, shall I get my socks?" etc etc.  So all ready for school today.  She wakes up this morning and announces "It's my birthday now so you can wish me a little happy birthday".
She was so excited to get a big school bag.  Damien got her a gorgeous book called "Why is the sky blue?"  Very sweet illustrations.  And I got her "Dinosnore" tickets.  We are going to the Museum to sleep in the dinosaur room.  She didn't seem too thrilled at getting tickets but once it sunk in she was excited.
So this morning about 11.30am she bounded off to school - all excited.  I can't believe that she is there now!  We made cupcakes yesterday and decorated her cake for later, this morning.  She wants to go swimming after school today and Damien is planning on picking her up with me, so hopefully he makes it home on time.

Can't wait to hear about her day.

Thanks Gina.  She had a great day!!!  I'm not upset at all because her enthusiasm is contagious.  I will let you know when I update the blog again with photo's of tonight.
She wouldn't even let me make her lunch for tomorrow.  She waved me off "No Mum, I can do it, don't worry, I'll make it" all while tutt tutting me with her hand LOL

The down side is the weekend is forecast to be over 40 degrees and I've made a decision to cancel her party, which was good friends and Damien's family.  My house wouldn't cope with an old airconditioner and a house full.  We might hang out at the pool instead a little longer after swimming lessons or go to the museum with Ashie's annual pass as I think it would be heaps cooler in their.  Poor thing, she always misses out on parties that are a decent size.  So I've told her in a few weeks she can have one when she has made new friends at school.

Had a lovely night.  The neighbours popped in and some friends who wouldn't have been able to make it on Saturday.  Ashie got some dino pj's to wear to her museum sleep out.  She is looking more forward to it as people get her gifts she can use for the event.

Michaela I hope Adam is starting to perk up just a little and can come home very soon (although not too soon like last time).  Will be thinking of you guys.

I hope she had a wonderful first day at school, bet you're the most popular Mum bringing in cakes so early in the year, hope they don't expect it every week!

While we're on the topic of birthdays, anyone got a birthday list?  Should we make a new one up?

Julie you'll have to fill us in on the other matter via email!

Gina I'd be pretty peeved off too!  I hope you have the best birthday anyway - when is the actual date?  Maybe treat yourself to a few hours of luxury ALONE!

Far out Jannette, bet you're peeved about the shoes!  We had such bad luck with Josh's shoes last year so have bought an expensive pair this year and the guy at the shop assured us that he'd grow out of them before ruining them . . hmm we'll see!

Wow Ping, talk about instant Mother's group!  That would be so lovely to go through it all with people close.

Morning sickness, oh yeah, I had it for 30 weeks, got over it for about 4 weeks and then went back to throwing up till the end, it was all fun fun fun (but worth it!).

Uni- I'm doing a Bach of Social Science majoring in Community studies - very ambiguous, not like nursing where there is a job waiting at the end but hey, sounds like fun LOL!

Have felt like crying the last couple of days after dropping Josh off.  He looks so small and scared and alone when I drop him off and I want to stay but I think that would be harder for him.  Not sure about his teacher, she seems kinda cold but then again I've barely met her which is a huge change from Isabella's teacher who is just lovely, she was lovely from the start last year with Josh so this new teacher is a whole new experience.  Bel's teacher pulled me aside today though and gave me a pep talk and it's good to know that she's watching out for him.

It is soooo very strange to come home to a quiet house!  It's kinda boring even but I know it wont last for long cause Scarlett is going to keep me on my toes when she eventually starts moving!

Forgot to say that I have school pics on my facebook - hey Julie, you going to join that any time soon?

Oh Julie I should have realised sorry!  Will brb and let you know about Adam.

Ok, this was 7 hours ago:
I'm just home for a few hours while Scott is in hospital with him. He's staying in tonight as well as he's still not eating/drinking. Poor kid has a very sore tummy and is just miserable. Thank God for IV fluids though, at least he's rehydrated. My GP was shocked by how bad he looked yesterday.
I told the nurse in ED yesterday that they should ...  Read Morenever have sent him home day before. She said if they kept every kid with gastro they'd never have any beds. That's all fine for NORMAL healthy kids! I told her they can't treat a HD child with gastro in the same way as an otherwise healthy child! At least she agreed I had a point wink.gif
Hopefully home tomorrow arv xxx

Michelle - thanks for the update.  Has anyone heard if Adam is home yet?  Poor little mite nno.gif

Michaela - hope you are hanging in there.  Think of you and your family.  Give Adam hugs for us.

Gina - know how you feel with the RSVPing.  Sent out only a few invites for Ashie's birthday for people to come over on Saturday.  I even had the RSVP for her birthday so at least people would remember that it was her birthday and kill two birds with one stone.  Oh well, she is none the wiser thanks to a doting mum and dad, and some good friends who not only called in the morning before school, but as soon as she returned.  Very sweet, made our day.

Went to work today (disability).  I need to get my name out at other schools in the area.  Desperate to teach ATM, having withdrawals.  Or rather my bank balance is.  Ethan is off to camp in the morning and has packed all his things.  He has a roll on sunscreen, but I wanted to lather him in the regular before he goes but I can't find it....as usual!  Hoping it turns up.

Jannette - what shoes did Talon have?  How's the ebaying?  How is Shea's belly?

Hi girls,
Forgive me please, am just going to cut and paste from my local mums group ...

I'm home for the night, Scott is in there with him.  Had a very stressful afternoon.  I broke down this afternoon.  So emotionally drained I had trouble walking  sad.gif

No change as far as the gastro goes.  We know which bug it is now - Campylobacter.  One I'd never heard of before.  It's a bacterial infection so there are ABs for it, but they tell me because of the side effects these particular ABs cause, that it's better treatment to just let it run it's course, and just watch hydration in the meantime.  So we sit and wait.  Tummy has been slightly better today, he has eaten a very small amount for the first time since Friday.

IV tissued at lunchtime, so had to be re-cannulated, always traumatic as it is, let alone making it the 3rd time in as many days sad.gif  Chatting with dieticians and paeds this morning re his lack of growth and we're looking at doing tube feeds again.  Attempted to put a naso gastric tube down this afternoon.  3 nurses plus me holding him down, another nurse inserting the tube.  I've been through a lot with Adam, but no other procedure I've been with him for has compared to this.  I've helped to NG's on him as a toddler and thought that was bad, but this ... there's no words to describe how bad this was.  Blood curdling screaming sad.gif  and I was helping them do it to him sad.gif  I broke his heart sad.gif and I'm a mess sad.gif

Worst part is, xray showed it wasn't placed correctly.  So it was all for nothing, had to be pulled out again anyway sad.gif  They wanted to try again but I said no more, he'd had enough today, we'd tortured him enough sad.gif

I feel so emotionally exhausted, and heart broken.  I just want the crap to end for him sad.gif sad.gif

I'll be back in there after school drop off tomorrow.  He might be home Friday.

Was going to type a good news post but can't now. Will BBL.

Can't c us going home any time soon. Adam gone backwards. not drinking, is lethargic & nausious, iv fluids starting again tonight. NG on hold while he's nausious.

Michaela I'm so sorry. is there anything about this particular bug that makes it worse?

My good news post was that LG came good with the free weekend deal, and I'm all packed just waiting for DH to get home to head to the coast! Picked a great weekend for it didn't we  Tounge1.gif .

Thanks girls,  I was pretty traumatised when I last posted sad.gif

Yesterday I didn't think we'd be leaving for a long time as he went backwards (nausia and lethargy, stopped eating and drinking), but then he woke up and started drinking, alot! Has still been drinking today and has been happy.

Paed came (she's such a lovely woman too original.gif ) and we decided to hold off on the NG feeds totally for a month. He really needs to get totally over this bug before we start doing tube feeds. So in hospital he was just being given food and water, and oral meds. No IV or anything used for 36 hours. So I said to the doctor that what we're doing in hospital right now, I can do at home. She agreed. So we are home, for now at least. Obviously they know that I know what I'm doing in regards to his hydration etc.

If he doesn't drink enough, we'll be back in there. But you know even if he ends up being re-admitted, it's still better to be home for a day or two in between. So long as he's not on IV fluids or IV ABs, there's really no need to be there iykwim.

I'm hopeful we don't have to go back, but not holding my breath. He is a tad dry this afternoon, I'm not happy with how his eyes are looking, they aren't sunken, but they aren't as bright as they were yesterday either. So will just see how he goes. He tends to eat and drink better at home than in hospital, so that was my theory for going home, just to see what happens.

The bug he has is Campylobacter.  I'd never heard of this one before.  Symptoms are diarrhoea, cramping, abdominal pain, and fever all within 2 to 5 days after exposure.  Diarrhoea may also be accompanied by vomiting and nausia.  He had all of those symptoms.  His tummy pain was awful (ED even xrayed to make sure of no obstruction, he was in so much pain).  He'd never had tummy pains like this with gastro before, I was really quite worried about it.

It's bascially a form of food poisoning.  I have no idea where he's gotten it from though.  He hasn't eaten anything different to the rest of us, but further reading says
Some infected persons do not have any symptoms.  In persons with compromised immune systems, Campylobacter occasionally spreads to the bloodstream and causes a serious life-threatening infection.
Adam is of course the one in our family with a compromised immune system.

He ended up starting on ABs yesterday.  They normally try to avoid them but because he wasn't getting better, they started.  Campylobacter can sometimes result in long term consequences such as arthritis and Guillain-Barre syndrome which affects the nervous system.  So best that he's on the ABs ohmy.gif

So, wish us luck wink.gif  Hopefully we can stay home.

I am generally regarded as the cold one in my family (unless it comes to family) but I tell you what, watching reports about this fire is bringing me to tears.  The stories coming out are absolutely devistating.

Michaela I'm glad to hear that Adam was allowed home and I hope he is still at home and continuing to improve.  What a terrible bug to have got though.  Like Nic, have been thinking of you all this weekend.

How are you feeling too?

Nic, lovely photos.  Ellie is such a gorgeous cherub!  Love the dress too btw, my friend got the same one and I was sooooooo close to buying it too!

Jannette hope you had a good time away!

Gina 4 more days till the big one!!  Is your party on Friday or Sat night?

Hi Ping and Julie (AND Lisa if you're lurking!).

Gotta go, Scarli is being a rat bag, not wanting to sleep but wanting to be held ALL the time!

#25 Keropi

Posted 09 February 2009 - 01:09 PM

Michelle - me too.  These fires are incredible.  Ethan and Aurora have gone to school trying to organise a fund raiser.  Hope it works.

Nic - yeah, kind of pottering.  Have been called for teaching tomorrow, have oncall later this week.  I did a few hours of gardening today and am now paying for it, I'm so weak!
Sounds good about meeting.  Maybe Thursday?!

Michaela - how are you going?

Jannette - what are you doing?

Lisa - get your butt here!
