Hi Oldies,
Been a tad busy here to update our thread.
Dylan is now 3 weeks old and growing at a rate of knots!  Have been having some feeding/settleing issues with him.  I think its a combination of me being on antibotics for my infected wound, he has a cold and he is tongue tied.  He is having his tongue tie snipped next Thursday.  If they do it after 6 weeks he has to have a GA, so the sooner the better.  Analeise whilst she is good with Dylan is certainly having some behaviour problems adjusting which i guess is to be expected.  It's wierd not to update about TTC or an IVF anymore.  We went to the IVF clinic a week ago as my OB wanted to see my wound.  We literally ran into the embrologist who transferred Dylan.  The look on her face was priceless!  She was just OMG OMG it worked, it worked original.gif (DH was carrying Dylan in a capsule), must be lovely for them to see the results of their hard work.

Wishingstar you're up next, good luck for the birth!

Unfortunately i don't have time for personals or to re-check the thread if anyone wants to be included in the roll call, so if you do please leave a message here.

Speaking of which....would someone else like to volunteer to take over the roll-call now?  There are not so many of us, so its not a huge job, but just at the moment and the next few months I can't guarantee when i will be able to get here.

Look forward to reading your updates.
Mergie, always thinking of you and wishing you luck, you have been such a wonderful support here for everyone.

Cathy, not long for you either!

Hi all, well, my precious little girl has arrived!!  Amy Lyn was born at 9.30am on the 23rd August weighing a tiny little 6lb 2oz.  She was born by caesarian section, it was a very beautiful experience for both mummmy and daddy, considering how terrified I was seeing I have never been in hospital before.  It was the most wonderful 30 minutes of my life!  I have only just got home from hospital, I had a low grade infection from the dressing that I had over my wound, so I had to make sure that it was under control before they let me out.  My DB has been FANTASTIC...he stayed with me in the hospital and changed her, fed and bathed her when I was unable beacuse of my operation.  Amazing how these guys can step up when they are really needed.
JB>>love the picture, looks almost exactly the same as some of the shots I have of Amy's birth.  Dont you just LOVE the shower caps they give you to wear...SO glamorous.  Anyway, must tootle, feeding time here...

Hi All,
JB - Glad to hear thigns are going well.

Bluemist - Cute pics.

Wishing Star - Wow what a lovely surprise! Congratulations on the arrival of Amy Lyn!

Me - The bump is increasing daily…have been a bit breathless today so the wriggler must be amusing itself by  pushing on something higher up today…..but still it's better than a spot low down he hits, which hurts! Lol
Started antenatal classes Wednesday night, only 4 couples in this class which is a good size, the class the previous night apparently had 28 people there! Nothing particularly shocking in the class I guess I'm fairly well prepared. Although one of the partners, may prove to be entertaining…..he was absolutely horrified by some of the photos, and we haven't even gotten to the yucky bits yet!  Lol
Woo Hoo I'm actually baking….yes don't get a shock! I am waiting for blueberry muffins to come out of the oven…..mmmmm they smell so good!

Stay Strong! Think Positive!

Nothing much to report here.  Still tired....I want my energy back now!  Though M/S has eased off...think I may be nearly over it....was with DD about now too.  Only 6 1/2weeks to go and we go on holidays (last one for awhile)...then back for 2 weeks and I finish work..YAHOOOOOOOO!!!!! I can't wait.  Leaving work earlier this time so I can get some time to myself and get the house ready.

Catch you all soon.  Where are all the new over the hill mums???

Wishingstar congratulations on the safe arrival of Amy Lyn.  Another oldie graduate, gotta love that original.gif

Cathy, that means you are next, you are our pin up girl at 44 wink.gif  Good luck for the birth.

SLJ you are so close behind at 32 weeks.  Then we have a huge gap with banana peel at 16 weeks.  If we don't get some new recruits here I am afraid this thread will die.  I can see why no-one wants to take over the roll-call cause you are all just about out but banana-peel nearly half way.  Oh well not much of a roll-call to date.

Have a good week.  My little man gets his tongue tie snipped on thursday, ouch i think i might cry at this sad.gif

Wishing star! Welcome little Amy! WOW, how exciting and how heartening to see so many new bubs in to the oldie fold!

JB - You poor things with the tongue tie! Hope you don't cry too much! I'll be thinking of you! Will he get a local at least???? cool.gifo: Ouch!

All's well here! Busy and all that! Alessia is eating really well and growing slowly, slight little thing only shy on 7 kg now at 9 months!
BUt she still managed to scoff schnitzel and broccoli florets for dinner with absolutely NO TEETH!
I'll think she'll be a candidate for dentures at 1 year old!
Bec is growing up a right little Miss and comes out with the most amazing things sometimes!
She's back at Kindy tomorrow after the summer break and I'm not sure who's more excited, her or me!!! ;p

Take care all and I'll try to pop in more often! Can't guarantee to pick up where I lef toff though when Alessia was born! Sorry lovey! Anyone???????

Woo hoo! I log on to find another little bubba in our midst. Welcome Amy Lyn.

JB - Glad to hear all is going well. Sorry to hear about the tongue tie issue. Hope all goes well for you.

The rest of you are all motoring along and will soon also have babes in arms. That's sooooo cool!!

I'm still plodding along. I'm just getting over another AF. It wasn't due until Saturday just gone but it came a week early and is still hanging on - just. I think my cycles are all out of wack and I'm not O'ing but really with everything that has been going on in my life over the past few months, it's not really surprising.
I'm actually starting to think about pulling the pin on the whole ttc thing if I haven't fallen pg by the end of the year. If I fall next year, I'll be nearly 42 by the time baby is born (provided it hangs in there next time), and my DD is almost 4. That's going to be a huge gap between them. I have a 4 year gap between my oldest two and I think a gap any larger is just too much.
Anyway, I'm rambling - sorry!

Take care everyone and I'll check in again later in the week.

I'll take over the thread if you like.  I tend to hang around abit and will be around for a while yet so I'm happy to do it.  I may be the last one standing, if that's the case I'll give it a huge send off from all of us.

JB - Love the pics!! hope everything goes well with the tongue tie.

Wishingstar - Congrats on the birth of Amy Lyn, you sound so very happy!!

Hi to everyone else.  Must fly.  I'll update the roll call next time I'm in here.

Hi ladies, can I join this great group of older mums?  I'm so glad I stumbled across this board!  I'm Sue, 37 (38 next month, living in Tassie and I'm currently 10.5 wks preg with my 2nd bub (DS will be 4 in November).  I am absolutely thrilled to be pregnant again (didn't think it would happen).

I've had worse morning sickness this time around, easing off a bit now.  Maybe chasing my son and working full-time has something to do with that original.gif

Having NT scan/blood test soon but starting to think I should just go for CVS as the weeks are ticking by so quickly.

Hope to get to know you all better!

JB - and do you know the sad part I turned 45 in August.. (and of course the lucky part)   I am feeling every year at the moment with every gram I put on in the last few weeks. Hope the body heals as quickly as last time.  Grace was nice an little 2.97 kilos...They tell me this is a big one, 2.5 kilos at 33 weeks..85 percentile Dr tells me.

DH came home on weekend after being away 3 weeks with a dreadful cold I am hoping Grace and I can avoid it.

Felt a bit offended on the weekend by an article in Sun Herald by Mia Freedman who suggested anyone in there mid 40's who have babies had (US Purchased) donated eggs and fertility treatment and tried to hide the fact. I was extremely lucky not to need that.

regards, Cathy

Girolama - I'm trying my darndest to not be the last one standing!

Cathy - You sneaky thing you, Happy Birthday for August, what day were you born?  I hit 43 on the 13th!!  I didn't read the article you mentioned, I'm sure I'd be ticked off if I did.  So glad hubby is back with you even if he is a little sick.  Try and take it easy, not long now.

Sue - Welcome to our little fold.  Congratulations on your second little one on the way.  I hope the MS doesn't hang around too long. Wow you must be stuffed, working full-time, a toddler and early pregnancy.  Our numbers are dwindling here which is a good thing in the sense that most of us started out TTC and now there's only a couple of us left.  Great to have you on board, if you need any advise ask away we're full of it!!!

You won't believe what I've done.... I'm considering IUI again!!  ARGHHH I know I can't help myself.  I sent an email to my Dr asking for his honest opinion blah, blah, blah.  He's on leave until tmw so it will be interesting to read what he has to say.

I'm CD11 today, off for acupuncture tmw and then the usual sex fest lol!!

Better choof, will speak to you again soon.

Hey Mergie how close are we!  I turned 42 on August 14th and my daughter and your son share the same birthdate!  Gees we probably shop at the same supermarket or something and walk right past each other!  Did you see Dylan's website?  Then you would know what i look like, mind you one doens't look too flash after having a baby.

With regards to taking over the rollcall in this thread how about you take it over Oct 1st.  Just cause you can't edit my 1st post with the rollcall.  Then next month I'll lock this thread after you start up the oct thread.

Cathy WOW 45!  What date in August?  I did actually read that article you were referring to and thought to myself why can't people like that do their research properly?  She referred to the older you get the less eggs you have which affects your fertility....whilst that is true to a degree it is more the quality of your eggs, hence older women are more suspectible to miscarriages etc.

Mergie why don't you do IVF again?  I think the success stats are higher for IVF than IUI.

Welcome Sue, good to have some newbies in the oldies thread.

Cathy, Dylan was around the 90th percentile at my 34 week scan!  He came out long so he actually looks quite skinny. Everyone comments on how tiny he is, but i think that is just the newborn thing.

Well better choof, its past Analeises bedtime.

Mergie, Same date your just a couple of years behind.  I always say 13 is my lucky number.  Except this year DH did not return from OS until the day after.  Disappointing when my birthday was actually a Saturday for a change and I would have loved a sleep in.
Hope everything goes to plan for you and your family. Do you actually feel your age?  Whatever that means, I still feel the same I did at 30 only better, more together, happier.  Though I do feel old when I have admit my age to other mums, DH and I try and "blend in", will be interesting when it comes to school time.

Hi Again,
Thought I'd pop back in again to see how you're all going, I know it's been a while.
JB and Wishingstar-congratulations on the babies.

Mmmmmmm, me, well on Sat I turned 39 and it's only been the last 2-3 months I've been thinking about my age and Alex's friends Mummies.
I think Cathy summed it up in trying to "blend in"
Though at least at playgroup there are a few other Mummies of my vintage, not that I regret my age.

We are thinking of ttc no2 just unsure when, probably not for another 2-3 months.

I haven't had any prob getting preg,ds# 3 got preg at drop of a hat ,ds#4 took 3mths .

JB - sounds good, I'll take over 1st of October.  Re the IVF, to be honest I hated the drugs and I hated the person they turned me into. The fact we're unexplained and have been pg twice tends to make me think we can do it.  I think egg quality/age is our biggest problem. The BFN's I got doing the 3 cycles just about killed me.  These days I just take it with a grain of salt. I think IUI will be less shattering for me.  I'll let you know what the Dr thinks once/if he replies.

Cathy - What a great day for a birthday!!  Mine wasn't that flash either.  I found out my Mum went back into hospital on the Friday so I spent the whole day worrying about her and how my Dad was coping on his own.  I have made a promise to myself that my 50th is going to be the biggest thing since sliced bread!!
I don't feel my age at all.  I played netball right up to a year or so ago. I don't look it. They had a cake for me at work on the Friday and someone asked how old I was, well the crowd nearly died when I told them. The negative to all of this is people don't seem to understand when you say you want another child but might be too old for it, they assume I'm in my mid 30's.  Then again that's a positive I guess.

Hi to Liz and everyone else.

Better go, DS is whacking me on the back with a balloon and wants to 'tap' on the puter!!!

Take care.

#22 Bloomer

Mergie, Yes about the people not understanding even my Dh gets a little confused sometimes.  I would love and he would love 3 children but I feel even if it is physically possible we need to stop at these 2 girls.  It is definitely heartbreaking deciding this is it.  I just wish we had met earlier.

These days age doesn't seem to be a factor in many things.  Though it is not a new thing my mum has a cousin whose husbands mum was 42 when she had him about 60 years ago.  It wasn't all that unusual in those days.  She is still going strong and has seen Great Grandchildren born.  I hope I am Lucky enough to last that long.

regards, Cathy

Goodmorning ladies!  Hope you are all doing well and avoiding all these dreaded colds and flus that seem to be doing the rounds again!  Im scared to take Amy anywhere in case she picks up something! (paranoid or what?)  Welcome Sue, you will find this group of ladies are so supportive, certainly helped me through some difficult TTC times.  JB, I would be tempted not to be there when Dylan gets his tongue snipped.  Maybe you can slip out for a coffee???? original.gif
Cathy..not long now! How exciting for you!
Mergie...so happy you are sounding so positive.  Im glad you are still around, you have been a great support for me during my TTC journey.  IUI sounds great too, thats how my Amy came about, as you know.  Good Luck with that. Keep us updated!
Amy is going great, the night settling has been a bit of a prob though, she will feed and go to sleep almost immediately during the day, but at night she feeds and then takes ages to settle.  But, will keep persevering!
