I had my first very noticeable braxton hicks yesterday morning. I got them quite bad with DS and if this one was anything to go by, they'll be bad again. Very, very tight belly for about 40 seconds. Had me holding my breath.

OH & congrats on your
Posted 21 July 2009 - 02:02 PM
me too I had bad ones on and off yesterday and even considered timing them....I never had them with DD so it's kinda got me freaked!!! Yay almost 21 weeks boy how time is flying by now!! Has anyone heard from 1CD??? haven't seen him on here for ages. Well 1CD if you're reading this we hope all is well with DW and the twinnies!!!
Posted 21 July 2009 - 02:42 PM
Well we had the ultrasound today, and it came back with all good news. Bubs revealed all several time as the sonographer was trying to get the right angle at times and so, it appears that we will be having another beautiful bouncing baby boy
The CD of the scan will get delivered to my doctor with the results, so I have no pics yet.
mumofhayden/MummyPig/hoping4bubsin09 - I haven't noticed any braxton hicks myself yet. I hope they don't bother you guys too much over the next few months!
mumofhayden - congrats on your girl result!! That's very exciting. I'll have to live vicariously through my nieces to get all my girly girl desires out!!
Fifi - funny dream - what's the result? Last night I was dreaming of eating soft cheeses lol. I was spreading camembert thickly onto a slice of french bread. Dream on Astrid!
Kate38 - I can share you relief at the good ultrasound news. It certainly helps lower the anxiety about everything being OK.
take care everyone!

Sorry for not posting earlier - i have been the last couple of days and love reading everyone's news, about their day to day lives and wierd dreams!
Sorry - going to be really selfish - no time for personals but i have a question for all you knowledgeable ones. Every night i wake up between 1230 and 1.30 and need to pee but also have quite bad tummy pains that kind of comes in waves. Can anyone offer advice on what this is. I eventually go back to sleep and in the morning it is gone, but just wondering if this is something i should be calling my obst about?
Thanks for your help ladies and keep the news coming!
PS - can't believe my little doggy tracker is almost half way (tommorrow is the big 20!)
Edited by ausktl, 21 July 2009 - 04:56 PM.
Posted 21 July 2009 - 05:01 PM
ausktl - no good about the pains - could they be braxton hicks? For me it feels like my whole stomach suddenly cramps (almost as if you've got the runs type cramps). Alternatively it could be wind! Definitely mention it to your OB next visit if it's worrying you.
When I get a braxton hicks I can definitely feel the whole outline of my uterus and it feels tight. Stands out heaps more than normal if that makes sense.
Posted 21 July 2009 - 05:09 PM
No idea, Ausktl... mention it, but try not to concern yourself too much.
Saw the hospital ob today - all normal, normal, normal - and a lot of very pregnant people!!
My current problem is I finally bought some maternity pants - now, I normally buy a 16 because designers don't believe in thighs and I don't believe in flaunting my generous pair too well, so I just grabbed a 16 which made me look like I was 20 months but then what doesn't...
Anyhoo - wore them today and had to keep hitching, because while allowing the generosity in the thigh it was also allowing for a waist of a well proportions full term woman, methinks.
Teach me to just buy because I am sick of shopping and want to get home.
My mum suggested braces, but I got all giggly at the thought of topping it with a red shirt, polka dot yellow bow tie and trying to get in and out of a telephone booth with many others!
Sorry, no personals, just a little observation on life.
Congrats to all who have had scans and got their boys/girls/surpises.
Half way - although I did tell V today it isn't REALLY half way, as the first 2 weeks are behind the start line and you have to count to 41.
Posted 21 July 2009 - 06:09 PM
I am sorry no personals today I want to have a whinge.....
I am really sick of people asking me if I am disappointed I am having another boy! Today I probably offended one of the mums at school when she asked me and I just looked at her blankly and said no, why would I be?? I do understand why people ask that question but I think it is rude. I remember when I was preg with dd and we told no one we were having a girl and so many people would say to us 'I bet you are hoping for a girl' and I would say that I honestly don't care, our DS1 is such a beautiful little boy why wouldn't I want another one!!!!
Even as I write this I KNOW when they ask, it is innocent and they aren't meaning it as a swipe at boys but it just annoys me, and no matter how hard I try not to let it bother me it does! Why can't people just celebrate the fact that you are having another beautiful baby and not zero in on what sex it is or isn't. We feel so lucky that we are able to have the big, healthy family we have always wanted without any dramas falling preg. This is the reaction we get and we already have a dd!!!
Phewwww glad that is off my chest!
Posted 21 July 2009 - 08:30 PM
mich my GF had the same thing with bubs no.3 she said people have been really rude particularly family. Her DH's mum said oh well I was going to buy her lots of things now I guess I can save the money???? Oh My Gosh!!! Oh well I guess you just have to take it with a pinch of salt or make a joke of it and say well we were really hoping this one was a hermaphrodite or something like a puppy heheheh!!

Sorry, just a quick brag post
I just made up a fresh batch of home made sushi (tinned tuna and vegies) and it was AWESOME!!!! I ate so much and now I feel so full but so GOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, sorry, end of brag...
Posted 21 July 2009 - 09:50 PM
alibaba - YUM!!!!! I have been thinking about sushi all week but have been too busy to make it! Cornelius huh?
hopingforbubs - how rude!!
michmum2three - that happened to me so many times when I was pregnant with DS2. I didn't really get it as we had been through fertility issues over 6 years to get our boys so they meant everything to us. It gets you mad doesn't it??
suziej - Laughed so hard at the image of you in a phone booth in those gorgeous braces!!!
ausktl - If they are painless they would probably be Braxton Hicks but if they are sore I would be speaking to your ob.
45tr1d - Congratulations on the baby !!! So glad to hear everything went well. Had to laugh at the cream cheese. I've been craving everything that I am not allowed to have!
mumofhayden - There are so many more accessories for girls though!! I think it would all even out in the end!
mrsjt - Twins!! No definitely just one (see below for results!!) Glad he's moving again for you!
Okay and now for what you have all been waiting for......drumroll please.......
So excited!!! Scan was all clear. She was a bit naughty and we had to go for a walk twice to get the right measurements of her heart but then decided to behave and let us finish. I will have to upload photos tomorrow as I need to download them from my camera. And then of course.....we went shopping!!!! Didn't buy very much but had fun looking around
So my dream has been answered and I now know which balloon I needed to have!
Off to bed as shopping has worn me out
Posted 22 July 2009 - 10:07 AM
oh wow Fifi congrats on your little girl!! How exciting. We are all really moving along now as I said to DD only 19 weeks to go give or take and she was amazed!!! How quick that will go by now!!! Hey has anyone taken the cenovis pregnancy vitamins. I am taking the IQ fish oil tabs and elevit. I went a bought some kelp powder (Iodine) and OMG my stomach turned just the smell of it!! I can't swallow tablets and wondered if someone had found a good liquid multi vitamin or if the cenovis ones are crushable???? Well I am off to baby bunting alone sadly but hey that way I can look at what I want and not be dragged around!!! Have a great day everyone!!
Tummy rubs to all!!
Posted 22 July 2009 - 10:13 AM
Fifi - congrats on your little girl. The girls are definitely outweighing the boys in this due in group.
alibaba - good on you for going to all the trouble of making sushi to feed the craving!
michmum2three - I know people aren't thinking when they say things like that but honestly it implies that you don't want the baby you're carrying because of the sex - how horrendous. I think your response was perfect. The person may be a little taken back at first but hopefully they'll never say such a silly thing again. I know we'll prob get lots of comments about clever having a pigeon pair - as if we had any say in it!
suziej - maternity pants suck. I had a pair with elastic all around the top and they were horrendous uncomfortable and I bought another pair last week. They are heaps more comfortable but I find I have to keep hitching them up which is always a good look. I'm pretty big already so could imagine for those carrying small it'd be very hard.
45TR1D - I can't seem to find you on the list - I looked a few times so it's either baby brain or you're not on there. If you're not on there can you shoot me through your details either via pm or on here and I'll add you to the list. Congrats on your little boy!
AFM - Feeling a bit blurk about everything today. I had a very uncomfortable night's sleep. I've been able to sleep in my normal position up til now but I think that's all about to change. Also my eczema is back with a vengeance and I can't use the cream again yet because my skin is too sensitive and still peeling from last time I used it. And on top of that I've got a sore throat and ear ache which for me means my reflux is playing up. I'm usually on medication pretty much permanently to keep it under control. I went to the chemist to see what I could take instead and he wouldn't offer any suggestions and said to talk to my dr. Thankfully I have an OB appt on Friday and can see what she says. And if that's not annoying me enough, SPD has been quite bad the last few days. Don't know if bubs has suddenly grown hence the reflux and SPD flare but I'm hobbling around . I've been sorting paperwork for tax this morning so that's probably contributing to my blurk mood - nobody can get excited about that (except maybe an accountant I suppose).
On a positive note getting loads of kicks which is just so lovely. I've also had no work on for 24 hours so I'm getting a chance to rest and relax a bit - DH and I even managed to find some time to talk last night - heaven forbid!
Posted 22 July 2009 - 10:56 AM
mumofhayden - ouch on the excema, reflux and SPD trifecta! I hope the OB can give you some relief on Friday. Thanks for doing the list - it looks great. We have found out the sex of ours, so you can add girl there - oh, and my real name is Sophie when I am not all paranoid and lurky!!
hoping4bubs - enjoy the shops!!
Fifi - yay on another girl!!
alibaba - mmmmm sushi. One of our favourite dinners - haven't had it in a while, actually. We always end up with trying to put too much "stuff" in it (doesn't help that V is a vegophile)
mich - one of the MANY reasons that, while we found out the sex (and you folk here are the ONLY ones who know the result) we aren't advising the world - not because we fear a reaction, but because other people have no doggarned right to bring their little judgement bubbles into our parade. Did you punch her?
45TR1D - yay on the boy!!
mummypig - ~~wave~~
mrsjt - congrats on the seat offers - it appears to be a bone on contention on the boards that it doesn't happen, but good to see it does.
kate38 - congratulations on a modest and healthy child!
jill - sorry work isn't such a serene spot at the moment, but priorities are you and bub.
madreader - I hope you get better soon
checkingboxes - thanks for that. I am using fairly run of the mill stuff, no research whatsoever...
maren - poor dd - I do hope the meds help and she is feeling much better.
jax - how are you going on secret keeping?
goddessof67 - I am 40 (and there are many more in the Older Mums section on EB - enough to make 40 statistically "chickenlike") and apart from the initial stats (and the fear of having to chase a toddler) it should be fine. Good luck on the scan today.
kittyN - gorgeous portraits of your babies!
aimee - how are you travelling?
missM, firstontheway, kitangel, learner, mum2jc, busyboys - hi there!!!
beks2boys (aka bek), kel~eric, 1dani1, d-o-n-n-a - haven't seen you around since before the change, how is everything going? (Donna - I do hope ms has settled a bit for you).
There are 13 others on the list who haven't been around for a month or more - I hope all are okay.
Posted 22 July 2009 - 12:27 PM
I'm here And as of today feeling baby kicks
45TR1D - congrats on a little boy
Fifi - Congrats on a Girl! cant wait to see your scan pics
mumofhayden - i had my spd flare up on the weekend and it was sooo uncomfortable i feel your pain!
hoping4bubsin09- enjoy your baby shopping, sometimes it is nice to go alone without DH saying no, no, no
alibaba~81 - mmmmm when can i come over for sushi i'd love some tuna sushi right now, you are good making your own!
mich*mum2three* - i find a lot of people have mostly negative things to say all the time wether it be "oh you had better have a girl as there are already boys in the family" or "my friend had a terrible birth" and the list goes on..... all that matters is you are happy & having a healthy baby be it boy or girl i'm sorry you get this from people.
suziej - i'm the same with the maternity pants & tops, i got a top and it's all baggy down the bottom as i've had to allow room for bigger boobies
AFM, my sleep is getting crap again and i'm waking up during the night again so excited i felt my first kicks this morning when i sat down at my desk with my cuppa tea!!! they were soooo distinct i now know what they feel like
DH is due to go away for work which has kept on being put off continually and now looks like will go right up until the day he leaves for ireland DH has agreed to go on a babymoon so we can relax together and have some quality time before the bambino arrives, so now the hunt is on for the best place to go, we were thinking melbourne but with the number of swine flu cases maybe not, bali was my choice and to stay in a private villa so i can suntan/laze in private but dh is against that is worried about me eating & drinking over there......so my new thought was QLD or Broome!!! Any recommendations from anyone?
Posted 22 July 2009 - 05:26 PM
Firstly thank to all for the advice on my tummy aches. I decided last night it was possibly integestion because it always was happening about 1-1.5 hours after i went to sleep. So last night i had a couple of mylanta before i went to sleep and whilst the pain was still there for the 12.30 pee it was not nearly as bad. So tonight i am going to try no mlant and se what helps. M back now that is another issue for another day. just taking things as easily as possible.
Congrats to all those with more health scans.
The main reason i jumped on now was to give advice on places to go to iwanttobakesomebuns - my recommendations - Port Douglas - we went couple of years ago and loved it. Also Thailand is great also but you may have same issues with food as Bali. I love playing travel agent so if you need any help planning let me know!
Ok going to fini my work ow so can get out of here and go home to my couch and hot water bottle for my back!
Posted 22 July 2009 - 06:02 PM
Ooooo Port Douglas go there we went for our honeymoon to the brand new sea temple and OMG it was so great!! We had a swim out room and it was fantastic!!!
Posted 22 July 2009 - 10:29 PM
mich*mum2three* - some people are real derrr brains. I don't think your reply to that woman about having another boy was at all rude. It's a baby fer chrissakes .
Alibaba - yum to sushi! can you come here and make me some . I did have a piece the other day but it was with seaweed, no meat or fish.
*iwanttobakesomebuns* - you're choosing to be bombed over the flu? Broome before September is bewdiful, after that could be hot and uncomfy specially if you're feeling quite preggo by then. Port Douglas sounds lovely! Congrats on your baby kicks. I'm still patiently waiting but my placenta is anterior so it could be a bit longer yet.
mumofhayden - really look after yourself. Not an awful pregnancy but it sounds a little annoying nonetheless, so far.
Fifi - congrats on your girl!
45TR1D - congrats on a little boy original.gif
suzieJ - that's good to hear about you and the other older mums here. The trouble is I work in the baby industry and while I see stacks of good outcomes, I also see the yukky ones and of course being a pessimist, I worried about this one until today. Now I really can't wait to meet the bundle.
Well, we had the scan today and a huge sigh of relief and happiness . All is well and normal. I am so pleased and excited. AND we're having a boy!!!!
I thought I wanted a girl but as soon as I found out it was a boy, I fell in love immediately. I wanted DP to tell me the sex and not the doc, so he wrote it and put it in an envelope. I lasted about 2 secs after we walked out of the joint. I can't wait to meet my baby now!
and belly rubs to all.
Posted 23 July 2009 - 12:21 AM
suziej - you really are good at personals. I concur with your sentiments so won't worry about repeating them all here (yup I'm lazy).
*iwanttobakesomebuns* - Spain is beautiful but I am guessing you are thinking closer to home. I haven't been to Bali but it is supposed to be beautiful and supporting their tourism industry is important. Sounds like you want somewhere nice and warm. We haven't explored too much around Australia but will probably do so in the coming years as a family (hopefully anyway). Darwin is beautiful before the build up starts in September. Sorry not really much help here.
As for us: We are staying in a nice caravan park on the South East coast of Spain. We are heading up to Barcelona tomorrow in the hope that we will be able to get our campervan sorted out. It is a bit of an old girl and something has gone wrong under the bonnet (we think it's the starter motor). So we have been a bit of a comedy act getting her going with a push start. Luckily we have had people near by to lend a hand so preggo and hubby can get on the road again.
Bubba has been active with summersaults and body rolls which has been reassuring. I've been headachy today but am trying to combat that with lots of water. As someone else mentioned earlier, fill her up then empty her out again. It never ends.
Enjoy your Thursday peoples.

Hi everyone ,
mich - I think you get comments either way. When we told the in laws DD 1 was going to be a girl they kept making comments that they were hoping for a boy. And now they can't get enough of DD and I don't think they mind at all that they're probably getting another girl grandchild.
AFM : DD is much better. She has slept through for 2 nights now so I'm feeling better too.
I'm pretty nervous about my u/s tomorrow. A friend just called me and said she had a dream last night that they changed the sex to a boy.
I spent yesterday on the hard floor painting DD's skirting boards and I think I've pinched a nerve or something. It kills when I walk.
Have a good day.

Just popping on to say we had the scan yesterday and it's a BOY! Edward Russell, my little man ^_^ All's well and normal, he's beautiful and healthy. He wouldn't stop moving around!
