Well I had my last day at work today and I got a big bunch of lovely flowers but had a disastrous lunch - the restaurants got mixed up and we ended up booked somewhere different and of 10 people only 4 ended up there. Still, it was a pleasant lunch and it meant that my boss paid for everyone seeing as it wasn't such a big group, so that was nice.
Ultrasound and OB tomorrow, I find out whether she's grown and whether they're going to let her stay in. My BP had gone through the roof earlier in the week but since increasing my meds it seems to be back under control - I was told if it wasn't ok by tomorrow I'd be sent to hospital, I took it this evening and it was 126/79 which is pretty much exactly what we want.
Keep your fingers crossed for me - I'd really like at least a week of mat leave BEFORE the little one comes along!

SILVER!!!! (or maybe bronze??? does 'The List' count???)
not much new here... went to family bday last night and got VERY sick of 2 new-ish mums there telling me how HORRIBLE labour is and how much it hurts, and how ALL first time mums go 2 weeks overdue. It irritated me that the point they failed to mention was that after all the pain- you have your beautiful baby!!! grrr...

I haven't posted in here in ages. I have been too tired to look at the computer at night. I am 37.5 weeks and having a c-section on 4th September... in exactly two weeks. I feel so massive now... pretty sure I am going to have an 8-pounder....hideously uncomfortable. Hoping I don't go early though because my ob is on holidays next week. Anyway, I was very overdue for the last two, so it's highly unlikely. Congrats Jodie on your boy! Did he have to go to special care nursery at all?
Minich - belly shot is beautiful!
So many of you seem to have the nesting instinct, I've got it but am too damn tired to do anything. These are going to be the longest two weeks of my life!!
All the best to all the bubs that appear soon!! I can't wait to hear about more births!

Ok, I'm sitting here starting to get a little worried. My C/S is booked for next Thursday. I have been up half the night with terrible pressure in my pelvis, I thought my waters were going to break at any minute. I've now just had my 4th loose bowel motion this morning (TMI I know) and have had constant pressure with BH. Not regular at this stage, but I've never had them in the morning, only at night.
You'd think having 2 kids I should know better, but my DS was an induction (my waters broke before I was even examined though and he was born 3 hours later), and DD was a C/S at 38 weeks (no threat of labour before the day). I had these grand plans today to dust the kids' rooms, but any movement is making me VERY uncomfortable.
For those who have had spontaneous labours, what do you think?
Hopfully I'll still be here until next Thursday.

Bookends - I think I know how you feel I had the same feeling on Wednesday but after having a day of sitting around and a sleep everything seemed to slow down and now I feel better.. Have a day of rest and see how you go. If your really worried though ring the hospital the midwives are fantastic as letting you know what to do!
Doing another big clean of the house today. Done my room and vacuumed all floors now going to mop then put away the piles of clothes I have. But I've just looked in my daughters room and there is not a chance I'm heading in there to clean OMG!!! She can do her own room from one day to the next it looks like a bomb has hit it
Minich - I love your belly shots they were definately worth the wait!
Better get back to it or I won't get it done before lunch time (time when DS2 and I have a sleep) thank god he still has huge sleeps in the arvo!

Ooohhh Kirsten! Sounds like the start of labour to me! Many of my friends have had the runs accompany early labour... Any chance you can get in for a quick check up? Good luck either way!
Wildmum - Interesting you mention the 'dampness'... mine has actually increased in the last few days Very disconcerting!
Owenwh - You will probably ultimately know when you're in labour, though I was in denial that it was happening as quickly as it was. I thought I was still in very very early stages when in fact I was already 6cm!! But if you think you are, time those contractions (or mild cramps, whatever they are) and call the hospital. They'll have a good idea just from talking to you if you're in labour. I only went to hospital because I had some light bleeding I wanted checked out. Mum said she knew I was in real labour though I hate it when all people do is share their horror story!! So unhelpful! I think we need to be aware of the possibilities, but a positive mind has to be more beneficial than being scared s**tless don't you think?? For what it's worth, I actually quite enjoyed my DS's birth (except stitching at the end) and 10 mins after he was born I said I'd do it again, no worries Just concentrate on breathing and relaxing as much as possible.
Newmum30 - Bugger about breech bub, but I guess ok given you're having c/s anyway... Hope your DS is feeling better soon! How old is he?
Wizzbef - I think if you went into labour now they would feel about and decide if bub was breech or not and if unsure they'd whisk you away for an u/s to check... My sisters baby turned breech around 36/37 weeks and then after doing some weird natural rememdy for a week, the baby turned back, so it might be worth getting clarification of position so you can do what you can to get it sorted? I'd say the midwife knows what she's talking about though.... Good luck!!
AFM - Had a midwife appt last night. BP fine, bub position good but spine to the left and not wanting it to rotate any further towards my back... been advised to keep upright position, no slouching! Head right down, but not quite engaged yet. Bad news (well mildly bad) is that I tested positive for the step B thingo... sounds filthy but they assure me its not about hygene or STD's or anything... just one of those things. So I have to have a canular in when in labour for them to insert AB's every 6 hours or something... Just an extra thing to think about I guess, but certainly not the end of the world!
DH is away at the snow this weekend, so I'm keeping my legs tightly crossed for now!!
Posted 22 August 2009 - 12:04 AM
Jenny - Yeah Strep B is just a bacteria that some women have. They often term it infection but its not at all and certainly not STD or disease like at all. The concern has been that bub can pick it up during the delivery through the birth canal (that sounds so wrong!) and it can cause an infection if it gets into their system. A pain though having to have the extra things to think of.
Kirsten - I had loose movements off and on all week, I mean not badly but really I would normally say I would go once a day, but I was going 4-5 times and weeing heaps too. I still wee 4-5 times a night at the moment but the other has been less consistent. With Dylan's labour I don't remember that happening significantly but I think I was on the loo for both more often than previously. I also had the urge to vomit when my waters broke and I did vomit when he was actually born. Something I'd like to miss out on this time around. I have been told that you can ask for a injection to stop vomiting, might be doing just that!
Owenh - Don't you just love the know it alls! I hate that so much in people... I actually make more point of saying how labour for me was nothing and BF was worse. I was never prepared for the pain of BF though I did special classes on it and all it was nothing like I thought and with the hormones raging very emotional when I couldn't get it right straight away. My 1st labour (the only one I have had so far!) was 2 weeks early, 2hrs long, drug free and a breeze! My sisters 1st was the same but 4hrs and was about 5 days early. A SIL of mine was 3 weeks early and had a 2hr drug free labour also. So NO 1st labours are not all late!
I had my hair cut and coloured today and I feel great for it! Will show some pics maybe tomorrow. So I am ready as for this bub now but I still think I'll be waiting next week too. I have the OB on Monday for an internal and have a feeling that will be the day as either that will start things or I will get the option to go in and be induced (assuming I have dilated enough and am ready enough physically that is)

Hey All -
Wow, sounds like some of you are really close to getting your little people!
My appts went well yesterday, my BP is back under control with the increase in meds, and bub has grown in the past two weeks - she's dropped again from the 12th to 11th percentile but that's not enough for them to worry about.
Next appt with the OB is next Friday and he says we'll then talk about booking in a date for a c-section the following week, when I'll be 38 weeks.
Bad news is I then came down with a horrible case of food poisoning last night and was up all night with stuff coming out of both ends (TMI I know, sorry!) and now feel like a wet dishcloth. DH has to work today but a very lovely friend from my mothers group has said she can take care of DS for at least part of the day so I can get some rest. So I'm off to bed - called the hospital and they told me bub's unlikely to be affected so I should just get some rest and come in for a check if I haven't felt her move by mid-late morning.
Posted 22 August 2009 - 09:56 AM
That sucks big time, hope you are feeling better son and don't you just love the support of mothers group mums.
I am probably heading to the hospital today, I think I am having mild contractions that started at 10mins apart and now are possibly shorter and more like 3-4mins apart. Waiting for DH to get out of bed.... typical! and feeding Dylan his breaky before we rush off.
Posted 22 August 2009 - 06:41 PM
OOOHHH Katie.....All the best !!!!!!
My bubs has HARDLY moved all day and I have just been lying/sitting all day feeling for movements....TMI i know but just went to the loo and when wiping, there was pink...should I be concerned? I have never had a SHOW before and I think everyone is different. Haven't told DH (currently out buying me ice-cream ) but he will have me in the car before I can even draw breath so I want to keep it from him at the moment. I am 37 weeks tomorrow.
Belly rubs to all

All the best Katie, a huge grin has spread across my face reading your post. I am so excited for you. Same to you Liz, I can't say for sure but if you've never seen pink before when going to the loo it could be a sign.

OMG Katie YAY good luck and looking forward to your good news!
wizzbef - sounds promising!! Maybe some good news from you tomorrow!! YAY

So do we have more babies today?!?!?!?!?
Can't wait to hear!!!
Posted 23 August 2009 - 06:08 PM
Good luck katie how exciting
ok well i have found myself a spare 5 minutes and thought that for those of you that asked i would fill you in on the details of Zakiya's birth. You have to forgive me for spelling mistakes im sleep deprived
Ok so on the 12th of Aug i had an antenatal app at the hospital and when they checked my bp it was through the roof and i had +2 protien in my urine so i was admitted for the day. My hubby and i spent all day at the hospital(yay) only to be told at 4 that i was ok and that i could go home.
Then the next day on Thursday night i didnt feel very well. I have to be honest and say that i yelled at my kids and i think i must have sent my bp really high. i just felt really wierd and i couldnt make sense of my words. It was like i knew in my head what i wanted to say but they werent coming out of my mouth properly. With that and all the other high bp symptoms like starry vision and headache we decided to go back to the hospital. I was standing in the bathroom when i felt my waters break. Not like this huge gush or anything just a trickle. So anyway i went to the hospital where i was checked out by the ob only to be told i hadnt broken my waters and that i could go home. They also told me that i needed to come back the next day for fetal monitoring. On Friday the 14th i got a call from the hospital at about 2 saying that i should come in for the monitoring. To be honest i was a little bit over the whole thing by that stage. So when i got there i went to the fmac and spoke to the midwife who checked my pad (because i was still leaking) and she told me that i had broken my waters and that i shouldnt be there and that she was going to take me over to the maternity ward. So the ob came to see me at about 4 and told me that they had decided between my bp and my waters that they were going to give me a c-section at 6
I had to call my hubby and my mum and get someone to get my bag (which wasnt even packed properly) so it was all very rush rush. But in the end it all turned out for the best. I had Zakiya at 7:19pm and he was perfectly fine. They had to use forceps to get him out because his head was engaged so i think he was going to come on his own soon anyway. He had no breathing issues or anything. I was a bit worried because he was 4 weeks early but at 7 pound 1 i didnt have anything to worry about! I stayed in hospital for a day and a half. I hate hospitals im always so hungry!! So 9 days on and i think im slowly starting to get the hang of having a baby again. I think not being able to just get up and go is the hardest thing to get used to but were getting there.
Im totally in love with him
ok well i think ive dribbled on enough. I hope everyone else is doing ok. Its not long now
Cant wait to hear about more babies.

Ah Jodie, such wonderful news. Great to hear news that your little is just fine. What a big boy for 36 weeks!!!

Have been wondering about Katie, hopefully some bubby news SOON!!
Belly rubs to all you lovely ladies

Hi Ladies -
A question for those of you that are expecting your number 2 child (or those that have already been there) - have you had any feelings of guilt about having another?
I look at my little boy sometimes and think "wow, he is like God King of his universe" - the world just revolves around him, we are able to play with him and give him undivided attention, and soon that world of his is going to be turned upside down.
Don't get me wrong, I actually believe that in the long run this will be good for him - I strongly believe that having siblings is important and I don't want him to grow up spoiled. But just sometimes I feel bad that I'm doing this to him.
Mind you after the day I've just had with him I'm not sure I even want one child let alone a second The whinge monster and the no monster combined into one demon toddler that was lucky to still be alive when his father got home (and don't get me started on my DH working every night and weekend for the past 3 weeks when I've been heavily pregnant and sick, DS has been sick, and I've been trying to get my own handover finalised in time to finish up work last week). Maybe I should get into the venting section....
Hope all of you are well - looking forward to hearing some bub news!!
Jodie corrinne - Sorry, did you end up having the c-section or not? The forceps have me a little confused, and I'm amazed that you were allowed to go home so early if you had the c-section! You must be Supermum!!
Posted 23 August 2009 - 10:07 PM
jodiecorinne - Thanks for your story sounds like the doctor had no idea and thank god for midwives. Glad everything worked out so well. Did you want to go home early? Do they have an early discharge program at your hospital.
I plan on staying a few days because it's too hard with everything else at home and the C/S aftermath..
ferretwrangler - totally understand what you mean and it happens with each child. I have 3 at home 2 DS and 1 DSD and with each of my 2 pregnancies and this one I have felt guilty for the others. But after a few months it seems to settle down and the kids bcome happy about the change and you will be happy too...
Well I'm guessing that because we havn't heard from wildmum it must be good news. Fingers Crossed

It's so exciting to think that soon we'll all have a bubs. We're so excited, all we talk about is a daughter and what she'll look like and who she'll take after. I can't believe how happy i am knowing that soon we'll be a family. Having never planned on being in this situation i feel so lucky. We have all the equipment now all we need is our baby
Congradulations. It made me smile when i read your post, thinking about how happy you must be.
What a beautiful photograph. I'm definitely showing my boyfriend when he comes home cos i keep telling him i want one and with only 11days till our EDD we dont have much time.
The RLT is actually pretty nice. I bought the loose leaves so it's easy to make it as weak/strong as you want. I've been drinking it since the beginning of the 3rd trimester so hopefully it helps. I wish i had a wii but we bought one for my boyfriends little brother so we have to wait. I guess i'll stick with walking to start with, i've put on 17kgs so i've got a fair bit to lose! We're going to be using a sling as well so that'll help the weight move even more.
I agree. I'm sick of people telling me i haven't dropped (when i know i have) and that she'll be born late. Who cares? I'm used to being unco, all i worry about is that she'll be huge by the time she comes. I just want to meet our baby.
I was planning on getting my hair done after bub is born as i haven't had it coloured since we found out i was pregnant. I was thinking of it as a "treat" after the labour but i think now i'll get a facial instead. I really want to look good in our first family photos considering we'll keep them forever. I'm definitely calling tomorrow for an appointment to sort out my hair.

Not long to go now, someone should have a bubba soon, cant wait to see those babu pics come thru
Well i think it's about time i pack my hospital bag i am doing that today.
I haven't been sleeping very well the last couple of nights.
With the weather we have been having in Brisbane i think winter is well and truly over and done with, i will have to buy some more baby clothes
Hope everyone is well
Posted 24 August 2009 - 11:07 AM
Jodie thanks for the story you must be so glad that bubs is out & you are both healthy. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Any chance of us seeing a pic of the new love in your life.
Michelleandtam I feel the same as you. I can't believe I'm going to have my own family and bubs is all we ever seem to talk about at the moment. I thought at 27 I had experienced so much in life but now I feel it's just starting.
So I have set up our temporary nursery at Mums and it's so cute. I have also finished packing my bags and all the house work is up to date so now all I need is a baby. I have done up lists as in who to call and last minute things to pack. I don't think I can be more ready but I do not feel like she is going to come any time soon. I have been sleeping well and I don't feel like she's dropped and although I'm ready now she might be over due and not come for another month
Discharge has decreased which is good but I have been having really bad pains in my fanny. I'm not sure if this is just pelvic pain or not but it feels sort of like a urine infection it shoots right up the front of my fanny bone and I can't move. This is the only pain that I've been having. Does anyone else get this and do you think it's normal? Sorry for TMI
Posted 24 August 2009 - 11:36 AM
I just got my preggie photos in the mail - we had them taken last week! They're great photos but I'm a little bummed that they're pretty much all nudie ones so we can't really show them around to a lot of people - we had them taken at home and DH was late - so by the time he got home DS and I were doing some naked ones and he stripped off and jumped in for some more - we were going to do some in clothes as well but DS was out of his routine for sleeps that day and just went ballistic so we didn't get to do them Still, we're planning on doing some more when the baby comes so we'll make sure we have some clothes for these ones!
Here are a couple where I was still in underwear so they don't expose too much (although as this is going on the web I've put a little blot over DS's willy in one of them!)
Posted 24 August 2009 - 12:29 PM
So I'm thinking Katie has had her bub... we really should have sorted out that mobile buddy thing so one of us could find out!!
Ferretwrangler - Great photos! Yes, I am about to have my 2nd and am feeling quite similar to you with the guit factor... Plus we've been so busy with social stuff lately that I feel DS has been a bit deglected by us, though getting spoilt by his grandparents... his whole world is about to turn upside down I'm spending a nice quiet day at home with him today, just playing inside (very windy out). I know he'll be fine, but I just want what's best for him, and I think having his mummy and daddy around is what's best. Hope I don't have to stay in hospital too long...
Wizzbef - So did anything come of your pinkish discharge? You could call the hospital just to check what they think?
Minich - You sound very organised! Enjoy your sleep now I remember sleeping heaps in the weeks leading up to DS's birth, it was great! I get an achy vagina, more so than the stabbing pain... it feels like the poor thing is getting nervous! lol
Michelleandtam - So nice to hear how excited you are! Not long now
Jodiecorinne - Thanks for sharing your story - sounds like it all worked out ok in the end, though the c/s may have been uneccessary? Silly drs
AFM - All going ok here. 2 weeks til due date today so still looking for labour signs constantly! Feeling ok, bit tired. I have my best friends wedding this saturday so I wonder if I'll be in one piece or two!
Better go spend some quality time with my boy... I'll be stalking for baby news though!
