Now this dog is really really strong and not yet one so trying to look properly was a challenge to say the least
So I was horrified to find many ticks in her ears, very bloated and very deep in her ears. I then checked the cattle dog and he had two in his ear and that was it.
We called vets in the area to find out about having them removed while under sedation as the bull arab was going to be sooooooooo hard to get the ticks out.
We were quoted from 4 vets $300 - $3000 for both Dogs. Plus $450 for the anti tick stuff per dog.
One vet told us that they were not paralysis ticks as all were engorged and both dogs were highly active, eating, and showed no signs of tick poisoning. When I described them he said they were bush ticks and common brown ticks.
So I had a massive panick attack and came home and checked Jarrah out (she has a tick collar). It was so hard to be throughough with her as she has a double coat and LOTS of fur. Her ears are clean and clear so I then ran my hands over every inch of her.
Thankfully she did not have one.
I am so paranoid now that she will get ticks, despite her collar. She has sentinal Tabs once a month to control heart worm and intestinal worm and fleas. Because of this she can;t take tick pills as well thus the collar.
Damn ticks I am so worried now.
Oh Neighbour managed to get all ticks from both dogs with the help of her 4 sons and liver treats. I am going to buy her tick collars tomorrow for her dogs (she does not drive)
