WA where are you??
Forosco wow 1st birthday invitations out already eeeeek that is scarey to read for me. Yeah I agree with you about what they are going to say about what each other got - my theory is that I was working when my 1st came along so we had the money to do certain things but I had been a SAHM for 2yrs prior to Isla coming along and funds were becoming very short but 1st's birthday hmmmm thank goodness I didn't have a big one for Yas as we just don't have the time for one now for Isla. For Yasmin we had a baby party for all her little friends in our mothers group and for Isla as I haven't been involved in Isla's baby group much since I went back to work 3mths ago we are just having an adult party/leaving house do!! but congrats to you getting those invitations out
Cec Yay to movement in Olivia - fantastic work.
Ally Happy Anniversary for today, hope you are enjoying some 'couple' time.
Sares - I like those dog tags with a thumb print in them - where do you get them from?? I think my hubby might wear one of those or even like one of those black band bracelets for men and 2 kids thumb prints on them or something like that - good idea. I got DH a stubby holder with Yas as a baby on it for his 1st fathers day and he still uses it but I might update one with a photo of the 2 girls together for him as he gets so much use out of it.
Anyway hope everyone is well - we have had a really lazy day today, bit annoyed with DH as it was meant to be a 'family' day outing today but he has used every excuse under the sun to not do anything and I have just found it booooooring. I hate not getting out but he enjoys hanging around the house. Once I get him out and about he raves about his day and how wonderful it was always but man its a job to get him off that couch sometimes!!! Its going to get worse on Sundays too as he is going back to working a Sat night and he will just sleep Sunday away so I told him today that Friday is 'family' day no matter what - no excuses even if we get out the house for an hour all together and then if on Sunday I am bored I will just wizz the kids out myself and leave him be but I do like to have a lazy day sometimes but we are in the dry season and its beautiful out there so we really need to make the most of it before the rainy humid season is upon us and we can then hang around in air-con or swim in the pool etc etc.
Anyway Im going on now - just felt like a whinge!
Have a great week everyone - back to work tomorrow and full on
BTW Yas is back in a plaster on 1 leg for a week then Thursday she is fitted for shoe inserts - like plasters made of lightweight plastic that fits her feet and lower legs like a half cast to support her while walking to keep her down on her feet to help use those muscles more - they are totally removeable so we can let her have them on and off when needed.

Helen, I am so jealous you are leaving the country. I would be happy leaving the state at this rate lol.
Foro - Best to have an early invite than a late one. What are your plans for the party? I am still undecided on what to do yet.. best hurry up and decide I guess
And I am another who is asking where WA is?
Hope every one is going great guns.. I can't believe our babies are nearing the big O N E.

yeah i've also been wondering where WA is. although it's a wonder she ever gets any time to post anyway with all she has going on!
jesse's party will be at a fitness first creche. we went to a friend's party there last year and it was fantastic - great toys to play with and things to climb on, so the older kids won't be bored either (most of the kids there will be around 3 or 4). we don't really have a proper theme or anything but i did put a little note on the invitation saying that if anyone is stuck for present ideas jesse would love a copy of their favourite book. we don't really need any more big toys in this house! and i have stolen the idea for his cake from someone else in this group, i forget who it was though! he's having a very hungry caterpillar cake. we bought him a very hungry caterpillar toy for xmas last year and he loves it so much, so it seemed fitting. i just need to work out the rest of the menu though. kids parties in my family tend to go a little overboard with the food, but it's a tradition and i can't change it now!

That sounds awesome! I still have no idea what to do yet. We have family coming from all over the place so I can't get away with a small party, It's going to have to be something substantial.
I loved the cake that was posted. Very nice! It sounds like you will all have a great day!
Posted 27 July 2011 - 09:36 AM
Helen - I got them from smallprint. Had to go to her house but was nice and easy, should get them in the post in a few weeks. DH is gunna love it!
Foro - that is me doing the VHC party and of course going over the top! LOL! I am so excited and can't wait til the big day. We have a huge family and with everyone coming there should be about 80+ people! OMG!!!!

Hi Everyone sorry I have been MIA for the last few weeks. I am really struggling at the moment with everything. It seems that the closer that Zara's birthday has gotten I have been reflecting about the last year and all my walls have come crashing down. DH has been away for almost 3wks which hasn't helped things he comes home next week for a couple of days then is going away again for 2wks. Zara had surgery on her eyes a little while ago and had a horrible time when she woke up from her GA and ended up in PICU because we could not control her seizures. On the second day she was in there I was driving home late at night and wrote off DH work car because I fell asleep at the wheel. I was ok just bad whiplash and some bruising on my chest from the seat belt and I have been charged with dangerous driving. I am also getting over the worst case of the flu I have ever had and have a mouth full of coldsores. I lost the plot completely last week and had to call my parents down to take the girls. I left them screaming in there cots for over 1hr waiting for my parents. I couldnt go in and see them as I was scared what I might of done it is so scary feeling like that something I thought I would never be like.
Sorry I will be back probably tomorrow when I have a bit more time. It is Zaras birthday tomorrow and have not organised anything I dont even have a present for her. My 16yr old should be home any minute and she is going to look after the girls while I run out and get a present and things for her birthday tomorrow. It will be a quite little party only me, Claire and my eldest DD. I will be back later.

Just a quick post - I just came on to see if you posted anything WA. I'm so glad your ok after the accident. Tomorrow marks the end of a really tough year for you. It is the beginning of a new one, with new hopes and promises. I can totally understand your struggle and know that you are such a wonderful, loving and caring Mum, but just like the rest of us, you're only human. It's ok to have a meltdown, especially under your circumstances. Thinking of you and praying for you.
Happy Birthday Zara - what a courageous little figher you are!

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY TO ZARA - our 1st bub to reach 1
WA I am so glad to hear you are ok after the accident. OMG you need to look after yourself so you can look after your precious children. Oh I can only imagine how overwhelmed you are. You have a power of strength my friend but yes like Occbee said we are all only human and can only take so much so I understand why you have cracked - Im just actually suprised you haven't cracked sooner!. Are you getting help from any outside sources?? Your husband is away a lot and that wouldn't help either with everything you have to do. OMG look after yourself my friend
Posted 29 July 2011 - 08:33 AM
oh WA, that is awful I am so glad to hear you are OK after your accident. I can only imagine how you must be feeling. Like Helen said, are you able to get any outside help, both physical help and counselling?
On the positive side HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZARA!!!!

Happy happy birthday Zara , how wonderful to be one!
Wingless, please take care of yourself, I wish (and I'm sure all of us do to) that there was something I could do to help in a practical sense, but short of that, we're all here to listen.
Really flat out here, seems to be no end of fires to put out at work, and home is hectic too although thank god the kids have gone back to school.
Just wanted to quickly say to Tangles that being caught up in a difficult legal situation sucks, and if you want to PM me I'm happy to talk to you about the legal process in general (even though I can't give specific legal advice).
Going away in our boat tomorrow for 2 nights, our first big adventure, taking Alex, the puppy, and no1 step-son Jordan, should be fun, we have our last public holiday before Xmas on Monday so taking advantage of that. Hopefully will have some time on Monday afternoon to come back here.

OMG my LO is definately shifting her sleep patterns - she is proving to like doing the 1 long middle of the day sleep AND she is standing unsupported for 10-15seconds before falling gently onto her rear end - Im sure one day soon she is just going to take off
Ally have a great trip away

Happy belated birthday to Zara! Well done Wingless on surviving such a huge and taxing year. I really hope this new year brings you more fun and laughter.
Hi everyone else
Have not been in to EB so much the last few months since feed times shortened! We are going well though and enjoy keeping up with those of you on facebook and reading here when I do get a chance even if I don't post.
Struggling to believe all our bubbas are turning one soon - just AMAZING
Enjoy it all xx

Just a quick one – we’ve been really under the weather. Hazel got sick a couple of weeks ago and we even did the weekend night-time dash to a medical centre to get her checked out as she broke out into an all over body rash last weekend. We went back to the doctor midweek and they did a blood test to check for measles, rubella, parvovirus etc which all came back negative though she has also had conjunctivitis, inflamed ear and throat, a fever and a blister on her lip. Doc didn’t think it was HFM either though so it all remains undiagnosed.
I’ve had the most hideous flu ever too (including catching Hazel’s all over body rash) and ended up with a full week off work this week and 2 days the week before. Anyway, we’re on the mend now and just having a low key weekend.
Hopefully winter will come to an end soon and the illnesses will abate and we can turn the heaters off. Hope everyone is all right and enjoying your weekends.

sunbliss - hope you're all feeling better soon. Jake had the bizarrest rash a while back - it looked like snail trails all over hhis torso, but if he ran around it changed pattern - really weird. Took him to the Dr adn they diagnosed a drug allergy (he had started antibiotics for something???) but then Riley got the same rash a few days later, so must've just been some weird infection.
mlc77 - Welcome back! Nice to hear from you.
AFU - I Found out Jake has been getting picked on at school which broke my heart, but I've found him a new little buddy from a different class and he is much happier. I spoke to his teacher and she said she'd talk to the class, which Jake said she did. So hopefully things will improve there.
I had a GP appt last week for Riley and Ella. Riley still has microscopic blood in his urine so we're off to the specialist next week and Ella has not been putting on the weight like they would like and she wants to refer her to a paed. I said I really think she's fine and so Dr gave me a month to fatten her up. I came home and checked on the WHO growth charts and she is bang on 50th% but on GPs charts she's way down. I had to take Ella back yesterday because since starting on solids she's been constipated and ended up with blood streaked poo on the weekend, so I took the WHO chart with me adn the GP was happily surprised but was shocked their computer had the wrong charts! (added to my stress levels for no reason)Anyway while I was there last week I thought I would talk to my GP about Mum and Dad and work issues that have come up (and ended up breaking down in tears) and she has suggested I speak to a counsellor and I also mentioned how Jake worries about me dying so he is being referred to a child psych. I'm a bit sad about it all, but I know it's best to get things sorted for Jake now - being just that bit older, he understands enough for it to be hard for him. And my girlfriends have been suggesting I talk to someone for a while, so I'm going on Thursday. Last week was particularly tough - it was my birthday and Mum and Dad's house just going on the market, and work is sh*tty, I wasn't in a good place, and this week I'm feeling much better - but I guess ut will be good to talk to someone and get some help to move through the grieving process because I don't htink I have moved along that path very far.
DH has come home today with man 'flu so I'm going to try to duck out and get my hair cut - LONG overdue. Ella's in having a sleep because we've been out all morning and she's an everyready bunny and refused to sleep! We had open day at Jake's school for education week and then lunch at Riley's preschool - so there was just too much for her to watch. It was lovely to see how they are both going though.
It's a beautiful day here today, so I'm going to go and play with my dogs til I have to go pick up Jake.

Happy belated birthday Zara!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
WA take care of yourself. You do an amazing job and are fully entitled to a meltdown. Glad to hear you are ok after the crash but like I said please take care xox
Posted 03 August 2011 - 11:13 AM
Ran - poor hazel, that sounds nasty! Hope you are both feeling better soon
occbee - Poor Jake! Schoolyard bullying sucks!!!! And look after yourself, sounds like you are going through a really hard time
AFU - busy busy busy! DH's 30th is on Saturday night so I have the next 2 days off work to make his cake, really looking forward to it Just hoping I am feeling well enough to finally let my hair down and have a few drinks! Doubt it Then I need to get stuck into Pats party and make sure I have everything! I can't believe my miracle baby is almost 1
P.S. oops, forgot to mention I have changed my profile name

Hope that you’re all well – it’s quiet in hear isn’t it?
Sares – I love the new signature and name. You’re very dedicated re your cake making – I hope that your DH’s birthday party has gone well this weekend.
Occbee – how strange about the rashes on your boys – I reckon that there is definitely some weird new virus going around. Poor Jake – that’s great that you’ve been able to fix things for him at school. Hopefully Riley is on the mend – I’ll be watching to hear what the specialist says. What a stress about the wrong weight charts for Ella. As for you, I hope that you are feeling OK and getting the support that you need. I went to a grief counsellor about two years ago when I had a m/c. Lots of unhappy things were happening for me at the time and I saw the person for a few months and it really helped me get back on my feet. Anyway, my thoughts are with you and I hope the first session was OK.
WA - what a tough time you guys have had. It’s tough to be managing everything on your own so I hope that your parents have been able to continue to lend a hand while your DH is away and that he is back soon and will be at home for a bit longer. Thinking of you all always...
Allymeg – I hope that you are well and enjoyed the boat trip a couple of weeks ago and it cleared your head amongst all the becticness (and that things at home and work are a bit calmer now). I hope that you continue to recover well from the recent ops and that you’re getting better.
Summerlover – hello – I keep noticing on the weather charts that is lovely up there in Cairns and hoping that you’re enjoying it and managing to get your family outings.
AFU – we’re OK here I suppose. I thought we’d have been well on the mend after the flu/virus thing a couple of weeks ago but I’ve come down with a cold and H is picking it up too and struggling to breathe when I feed her because she is all bunged up. She’s over 10 months now but she is still feeding at 11pm, 2am and sometimes again before 6am. We thought we would try a cold turkey approach to dropping the 2am feed once she was better after the flu – didn’t work at all well. Next we tried to reduce the time she feeds so she is getting less each time and eventually drops it. I was able to get down to 4 minutes on each boob and then she started waking an hour later asking for food again – so while it is habit to some extent there seems to be genuine hunger too. Now that she has a bit of a cold I’ll just feed her when she wakes until she is better as anything we can do to reduce her crying should hopefully reduce snot too. When she had flu/virus she didn’t eat solid food for 3 days and a few days earlier I had weighed her and she was only just 8kg so I am conscious that she is still on the low end of the weight scale – no matter how much we try and fatten her up. I’ve been cranky because having a cold, having a few early morning starts for work and doing the night-time feeds is all cumulatively exhausting. On the other hand I am feeling a bit more optimistic now that warmer weather has started to arrive and it’s nice to sometimes be driving home from work with a bit of daylight still showing. H is also pulling herself up on everything now – not cruising quite yet but it seems imminent (though I think I’ve been saying that for a few weeks now!).
Anyway – I hope all you lovely ladies are having a great weekend with your LOs. Take care

just a quickie - just so busy running around doing stuff before our holiday, buying this damn house and Isla teething so badly that its been nurofen/panadol every 3-4 hours - had to get the doc out today as was concerned about her flying on Wednesday but its just the stuff that comes with some teething babies and she is just all clogged up poor little thing but she has been very very clingy and won't let me out of her sight which has made things very hard to get things done. Anyway on the count to going away and 1 more day of work left tomorrow - DH is staying home with Isla tomorrow but I think she will be fine for daycare Tuesday as we both have a lot to do to get things done for going on Wednesday so lets hope.
So hoping everyone else is ok and I will try and pop in before we go.
ps Sunbliss it was a bit of a wintry day here in Cairns for us today so looking forward to going somewhere a bit warmer!!! Cairns is so lovely lately though for all you Southerners - it is glorious, we are just acclimatised - I just couldn't imagine living back in Adelaide brrrrrrrrrrrr
Posted 08 August 2011 - 02:28 PM
wow another weekend has rolled on by, and I didn't open up my computer until late last night - maybe a good thing? We seemed to be on the go all weekend.
Ran, I hope you and Hazel get over your colds soon, it will be good when our babies are old enough to start taking some remedies that help decongest them! I take my hat off to you continuing to breast-feed when it is so demanding, I don't know how I'd be surviving if my little man wasn't such a good sleeper.
Helen, in case I don't get to post again before you go away, hope you have a wonderful time in Bali, and will look forward to a report, we are considering it as a possible whole-family (4 kids!) holiday destination sometime.
Occbee, I hope things are brighter for you this week. You shouldn't set too high expectations on yourself after all you have been through - but then that's what so many of us tend to do - I hope the counselling is beneficial.
Sares - did the 30th go off well? Hope you did get to relax and enjoy it too. I love your new sig!
Kirsty, nice change of name, I'm trying to have more of that philosophy on life - I hope you are starting to find some improvement with your health.
AFU - we attended our first "1st birthday" at the weekend, a friend whose son was born about 36 hours after my baby shower (that she attended!). The party was at a local nature reserve where there are natural springs to swim in, it was a great BBQ lunch then everyone went swimming, so cute to see lots of bubs in their togs enjoying the water. Alex looked like Lord Muck cruising around in his floaty-seat! It reminded us what a lovely picnic/recreation venue this reserve is, free gas bbqs, lots of play area, about 20mins drive from our house, and we haven't been there for years.
I'm now getting excited about the idea of Alex's first birthday - my parents will be here for it, we will have a few lots of friends over, and we installed our big TV on the verandah yesterday, so I might do a slide show of the first year on a USB and play it out there during the party. I've already bought presents from the Target toy sale and stashed them away, just a few things. Samantha had ALL of Alex's existing toys out of their boxes spread out on the new rug in his (soon-to-be) bedroom on the weekend and it looked like a mountain! True he has inherited a large number of trucks and cars from his brothers.
I had my whole-body CT scan done on Friday and preliminary reports sound OK, there is one slightly enlarged gland deep inside my abdomen which we will find out more about when I have a PET scan next week in Sydney, and a spot on my liver that the doctor was confident was more likely to be a cyst than anything to do with cancer. But at least there were no obvious signs of any serious metastases. My arm/armpit continues to improve, I had what will hopefully be the last drainage done on Saturday, and I am generally feeling brighter.
Ran we did enjoy our boating, we had a 2-night trip out last weekend with Alex, Jordan (DSS1) and our new puppy, it was lovely and we brought home a big haul of fish. I'm sure we'll be doing many more trips like that, it is so easy now just to jump on the boat and go off and stay out on the water for a Saturday night.
Better get back to work now, keep well and happy,
Posted 09 August 2011 - 09:00 AM
Sunbliss - how exciting! I can't wait til Pat starts pulling himself up and cruising
Helen - hope you have an AWESOME holiday!!! Looking forward to some pics
Ally - Glad to hear things are looking up and the docs are confident! Yay for 1st birthdays!!!!
AFU - Patrick has a tooth! Finally! It came through sometime on Saturday, didn;t even know he was teething! The 30th was good, DH drank far too much but had a good time so thats the main thing. Now to focus on Pats birthday!!
Posted 09 August 2011 - 09:14 PM
i wrote out my shopping list this morning for jesse's party! i've got my menu all sorted and my timetable for the week leading up to the party so i know what baking to do on which days. my mum and my sister have been given their designated menu items to take care of (i only do sweet, savoury isn't my thing!) so they're all set now too. very exciting!
still no crawling at all here even though jesse turns 1 in less than 3 weeks! he's trying very hard but he just can't get the hang of it! it's pretty embarrassing. he's this huge massive little boy who doesn't know how to crawl!
i've decided today that we're going to try him on cows milk. i mean he has it on his weetbix every morning and he eats yogurt and cheese all the time, so i'm sure he'll be fine with it. but we're going to hamilton island a week after his birthday and i really don't want to have to bring formula with us, so i want to start weaning him now. he'll have his first bottle of cows milk on thursday morning (he has kindy tomorrow so don't want to risk it). wish me luck!
