You usually would do a blood test to make sure you're immuned against rubella and chicken pox etc and just generally make sure all is ok. But if you already know all that and have had a recent blood test then I guess it isn't essential. Sometimes your Obstretician may ask for one, so depends really.

I managed to get an earlier appointment for my scan, so its next week on wednesday 11th Jan which makes me feel a bit more relieved...obviously it doesn't mean that all will be ok but just to be able to know if its ectopic or not is a big milestone for me.

I also feel quite nauseous around lunchtime, its like if I eat nothing I feel nauseous and if I eat something I am ok for 2 minutes and then I get nauseous. And at nights its as if my food is stuck and hasn't been digested properly, like a reflux/heart burn......hopefully this will end once trimester 1 ends!

Bronze!

Trust me to join as the last post of a thread...

Copied and Pasted original.gif

Hello ladies! I havent popped in here 'officially' yet but I have been  ph34r.gif   a little

I've been hesitant to join as this is our second shot at bub #2 but its getting lonely with no one to talk to!
So I'm 26, DH is (almost) 27 and we have a DD who is almost 3. I m/c our last pregnancy at just over 11 weeks which was hugely unexpected. Hoping so much that this one is a sticky bub.
So if all goes well with this one, it is due 24th August which puts me at 7 weeks today.

We have a viablitly scan booked for Monday (7+3) and I'm so nervous... actually I'm only a few steps away from freaking out   I don't even want to know what I'm going to be like Monday - scan is at 4pm!!

In terms of symptoms my boobs are massive (this happen in both previous pregnancies) - almost up a cup size already - and I've got some mild all day nausea (worst around lunch time). I don't really know if the nausea is a good sign or not. I was much sicker with DD but not as sick with the m/c so its in the grey middle area which is annoying.

Anyway enough about me.

I did want to reply to tryingfornumberone though. I stupidly also did a FRER test a few days ago (6+ weeks), a left over test, and also had a bit of a freak out when my test line came up about 5 minutes before the control and the control was so faint. Glad to know it dud's the test and hopefully it just means we have heaps of HCG!!

divz145 I haven't bothered with a blood test this time round and probably wont. Once we have the scan on Monday that will (hopefully) be all the reassurance we need. with my 2 previous pregnancies I had a blood test done about 7.5 weeks (lazy on my part) but I didn't have early scans. My GP already knows all my blood groups and immunities etc from the last pregnancy and pre-TTC checks.

Hope I get to stick around a while longer

Good Luck to anyone with upcoming scans etc.

Hiya!

Thought I'd introduce myself, I'm Brooke, located in Melbourne, due to have baby#2 August 23rd, 2012. DD is 3 and very ready to be a big sister!  ddance.gif

Fell pregnant first try, on DH and I's anniversary (8th Dec) greeted with BFP.gif !

Had a dating scan 30/12/2011 and all is well, 7weeks 2 days today!

Feeling so very tired! All the time! Sore boobies and a bit grumpy, not much morning sickness (thank gosh). Experiencing a lot more worry with this pregnancy than my last, I don't know why  wacko.gif

Look forward to sharing this journey with you other mamas!

hi mrsgrech! thanks for taking over the list.

i'm from melbourne, and we both feel pretty certain this is a little girl.

had a scan today to assess the viability of my cervix. they were thinking it was short and might have troubles holding the pregnancy, but woohoo, it's super long! apparently longer than most, but this is meant to be good news. i felt a bit freakish though when he told me how long the normal one is. freaky cervix!

i'm feeling a bit spoiled with the number of scans. there's another one booked next week again at the hospital as they want to follow up on the one from a week ago.

bubs has progressed perfectly. the heartbeat has gone up to 162, and the length measured spot on for the date. it was a 3d scan, so it was nice to see the nugget all lumpy and forming.

hope you're all doing well original.gif

Ive got two questions for you ladies...

Is there anyone in the group who is diabetic?
I've had a lot of problems with my sugars the last week or so. Early in the pregnancy, I had unusual hypers, but now I am having continual hypos. Literally, if I am not careful, hypos could almost be hourly or two. I'm cutting my insulin rather dramatically. Anyone else experiencing this and if you are insulin dependant, how are you dealing with it?

Has anyone ever had a cervical stitch?
The decision wont be reached until after I've had a clean NT test at 14 weeks, but has anyone ever had one? Was it painful? Did it work for you? Would you recommend it?

I hear ya on that, i go from not being hungry to being STARVING within minutes, hunger pains and all. Once i eat i feel sick again. coming out of coles this morning i couldnt wait to get into the car before i ripped open a bag of breadrolls and stuck one in my mouth. I had a trolley boy walk past me staring at me like i was a beached whale. I felt like yelling 'im pregnant idiot, you got a problem with that?'

Hi MizRhi

I am not a diabetic but have had gestational diabetes in the past.  However I wasn't on insulin so I'm not sure I can be any help...but just wanted to ask: do you see a specialist for your diabetes?  If so I would be giving them a call - doesn't sound too good to be having continual hypos.  Look after yourself original.gif

Welcome to all the newbies! waves.gif

I have been feeling really nauseous - all day, every day.  Don't recall feeling this rough with the other 3 pregnancies - maybe it's a function of being older...
Also - I am not sure how i am going to keep the news a secret until the 12 week scan - I'm sure my tummy is popping out already.  Guess the ol' muscles aren't what they used to be laughing2.gif

Hi CCABW,
Yes, I visit my educator and my specialist frequently. They are a part of my medical team, so its important that I speak to them weekly. Its apparently normal. I was really looking for some strategies that people may have used in the past to keep the bloods under control.

I just posted this on the face book group, and I thought I would share it here for you all too. Its a repost:

I mentioned the Pregnancy and Baby Expo (2012) below somewhere today. I just went and looked it up. Dates are as follows:

Adelaide: Friday 16th to Sunday 18th of March 2012
Sydney: Friday 18th to Sunday 20th of May 2012
Brisbane: Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th of June 2012
Perth: Friday 10th to Sunday 12th of August 2012
Melbourne: Friday 12th to Sunday 14th of October 2012

Free tickets to the event are available at the moment on the website. http://www.pbcexpo.com.au/ (If I remember rightly, there was some sort of issue with the free tickets going off display last year a few weeks before the event. Might be wise to print it off now!)

Who is excited? I will be going to the Brisbane Event original.gif

Mrsgrech, could you change my EDD to 17th, please.

MizRhi, I've never been, sounds like fun! I'm guessing it's like a wedding expo but with kids stuff? (sorry the only expo I've been to is a wedding one, oh and expo 88!)
I'm in Brissie too.

Well I am knackered. Spent the whole day cleaning cupboards whilst watching hubby take them down. My kitchen now consists of a sink and one cupboard! I'm going babysitting tomorrow whilst he rips out the rest!I seemed to have pulled a muscle in my pelvic area. I'm not too concerned as it's on the far left. I'm just having extra rests! Hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

Hi there,
Would love to join this group. Having abit of a daft moment, and not sure if I am joining correctly?
I am 6 and a bit weeks- due 30 Aug. This was unplanned but my partner and I are very happy with our little surprise, especially after falling completely in love with bub upon seeing little heatbeat on scan! Very happy and excited but also so, so nervous but I am guessing this is very natural.

Just a quick post for now to see if email goes through, and to make contact.

Hoping everyone is going well original.gif

Hello, Caity. Welcome to the group. Congratulations on your surprise!

We have had to start locking Kitty out of the bedroom of a night cause she insists on sleeping on top of me. To combat this exclusion, she sits at my door and howls til I wake up - any time from 6.30am. She is my constant shadow, and follows me all over the house all the time - even to the toilet. We got her when I was pregnant with Tyler, and she was the same right after I lost Tyler. She has to be reacting to the hormonal changes from me, I think., but its oddly comforting. Anyone else have weird behaving pets?

#24 Becs84

Hey MizRhi

Thanks for the tip on the expo - I am in Brissy too so might drag hubby along to it! He has been really good though and is reading up on everything and explains to me why I am feeling so crappy!

I have 2 massive dogs that are my babies and they are already weird behaving pets, not sure how I am going handle it when the baby comes....going to have to start training them to be outside dogs for a while I think. Bronson (Weimaraner) follows me everywhere too, if I don't close the toilet door properly he pushes it open and waits for me.

British_Kiwi

We just finished our kitchen before our news arrived (thank god), having to wash all our dishes in our bathroom sink was killing me! But now we have a dishwasher which is the best invention ever!

I am also off on Wednesday morning for my 7 week scan, fingers crossed everything is ok so I can relax a little more. Had a horrible dream of an ectopic pregnancy the other night....hopefully after the scan those dreams will go away.

#25 British_Kiwi

I two lovely poodles, but they have always been weirdly behaved! We're probably too soft. Bella the eldest has completed basic obedience training but every now and then she becomes a rebellious teenager! They also have worked out how to slide open the toilet door! Not amused! Becs84 - dishwasher is great. We're about to disconnect our sink after lunch and we're eating out tonight. For once looking forward to bein at work tomorrow! Good luck with your scan, personally seeing that heartbeat though unreal, I feel more relaxed. Saying that I did dream I started bleeding! Not happy! Thankfully I woke up!
