Popping in to say hello, hope you don't mind me posting, I lurk here regularly, and am praying / cheering for everyone.
Spock, I suppose it's good to be busy to keep your mind occupied but that is really interesting you found out about insulin resistance. I am sure you already know that it can increase the rate of m/c, I think the stats are about 40% of m/cs and metformin can help reduce. This was the next testing I had planned had I not got this BFP. I hope upon hope it helps you hold onto your embies.
Mitch, it's really just horrible when others around you & friends/exes whatever are falling pg. It's tough to know what to say except try to keep on keeping on & supporting your DP & vice versa. All the best for her stimming in a couple of weeks.
BJ, good for you on having a binge !! It feels bloody good I reckon, albeit the older I get/got the less I can cope ! Hope your AF returns asap & cycle back to normal.
zoe, good luck with your ivig honey. I don't know exactly what's involved but off to do a bit of googling after this. What I do know iseverything connected with IVF is expensive ! I hope it provides some answers.
Libra, how are you doing ? Have you been having any counselling etc or are you pretty much head down bum up focusing on the next cycle ? I think of you regularly and hope you're doing ok.
Countrymel, HI !! Good to see you back here again, I see your posts in other areas of EB, was wondering where you're at with TTC & IVF etc. Good luck.xxxx
Spring, good luck with this next phase & Hawaii etc., not a bad spot to go and I hope you can enjoy yourself but most importantly bring home a successful pregnancy.
Halby, if you are here, hi & big hugs to you. And hi to DTR also ...
Hope I haven't missed anyone, take care all, I'm following your journeys ....

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! It's shocking weather here in Melbourne - cold and overcast so I'm spending the day in my PJ's! DH is watching football and I'm about to make some ANZAC biscuits :-)
Still waiting on AF too - CD40!?!?!?!?! The longest cycle I've had was 42 days but that was last year after my D&C.... all I can think is that my gall bladder surgery sent my body into shock and it's just shut down for a while. Can't think of any other reason...?? At least I'm not waiting to start a stim cycle or FET - I'd be going mad if I was!
Spock - sorry to hear about your insulin resistance. At least you've found it and can manage it now! Hopefully you'll see some changes and maybe even weight loss (if you want/need some?) once you get it under control! Hang in there - I know it can be tough going here there and everywhere to different doctors. You WILL get your baby!
Zoe - how did your IVIG treatment go? Can you tell us a little more about it, or link to a website? I'd be interested to read about it.
Liltuss - thanks for popping in! Yeah, it's awesome relaxing and not worrying about diet etc for a while. I'm having a 5 week binge starting Easter weekend when DH and I head to Spain/Portugal/France - trying hard to lose some weightbefore we go - so far almost 3kg's down - so that I can put on 5kg while we're away!
Mitch - how's the sniffing going? Any closer to a date for your surgery?
Hi Spring, Libra, CountryMel and everyone else!!!
Posted 26 March 2012 - 07:49 AM
Hey all - how're we all doing?
Spock - any update on your doc's appointments / way forward?
Zoe - how is your progress?
Liltuss - so great to hear from you. I hope you're doing well
BJ - has AF arrived yet? Can be so frustrating all this waiting, aye!
AFU - DP won't be starting injections till around Easter and no sniffing as the Synarel doesn't agree with her - she gets another injection of something instead, and again, I know even after 6 years I'm crap at remembering all the medical terms/jargon!
Will keep you all posted. Good luck all x

Well I did ivig yesterday and i was in hospital all day until 11pm. Basically ivig therapy (costs $2250) supresses the immune system as it looks as if my own body is killing my embryos. I have elevated NK cells, so the way I describve it is i have overexcited tcells. There is no reason why perfect looking embryos transferred just cannot take. I do however also believe its up to the embryo as well, honestly who knows! This ivig therapy hopes to quieten them down!
There were also two other ladies in there as well but they were getting intralipd treatment (much cheaper) and they were both 7 weeks pregnant, so this booster for them is to help keep the embryo. I was dying to get out of my room and find them so i can chat and find out more but i had to lug the bottle and drip with me, so was a no no.
Its done over a span of say 8hours, and a canula is put thru your veins so you really need to keep still. All i can say is that bed rest and me do not mix. Makes you go to the loo heaps as there is so much liquid going through you as well. This morning i am soooo thirsty so am uptaking my water intake twofold. No side effects as yet.
My transfer is tomorrow, I am not hopeful. Why would i be so lucky for it to happen on the first go with this treatment, none!
Hope you are all travelling well.

zoe, sorry i haven't replied to your pm, my computer at home is playing up. glad you managed to squeeze in your ivig just in time for your transfer tomorrow. good thing you were able to find out the ivig would still work, what a relief. sounds like a very dull time of lying around all day with a drip. good you're not feeling any major side effects. hope the transfer goes smoothly, you never know. wishing you the BEST of luck that this one takes and sticks.
mitchp, sounds like you and your dp are ready to start.
bjb, any news on af's arrival? what does your doc think?
liltuss, thanks for popping in. i'm not yet ready to pop into the other bg but i do still think of you and some of the others. hope all is going smoothly. yes I am also hoping the metformin helps with the m/c risk but i do have a instinctive feeling something immune is going on.
hi everyone else.
afm, seeing the cardiologist for the resting ECHO tomorrow. my body is slowly getting used to the metformin. i'm still a bit shocked i have this insulin resistance as i don't have PCOS or any signs. i've been very good about my diet, not sure if that will last once i'm back on pred. seeing the reproductive immunologist and regular immunologist next week. my hcg is taking ages to come down. It was 7 last week so had another bt this morning. suprised i have any blood left at this stage plus i look like a heavy drug user, so many needle marks on my arms.
Posted 26 March 2012 - 03:33 PM
Zoe, good luck for your tfr tomorrow - and fingers crossed the ivig has worked to supress the NK cells. Surely these crazy things we do to ourselves have to help.
Spock, sounds like they are making some progress towards answers - but so frustrating. I've got my dates - we're off at the end of April, target EC at the start of May. I did have an anxiety spike when I got the dates and detailed calendar - made it all much more real than signing the contract etc. now all good. there are still a bucket load of drugs to take aren't there - were you on the pill, lucrin, progynova and I think an antibiotic, then steriods and progesterone inj's post tfr? When are you thinking about heading back for a FET?
BJB - yum, anzac biscuits are delish. The countdown to your amazing holiday is definately on! you must be so looking forward to it.
hi mitch - hope you and your DP are going well while you're waiting for the next cycle
liltuss, glad you're still keeping in touch
AFM, trying to have a bit of an exercise burst and do a bit of holiday planning - may as well make the best of having to go to hawaii!
Posted 26 March 2012 - 03:49 PM
Hi all, just wanted to pop in to say diet or healty eating is going well still. DH has lost 10.5kg and I've lost about 7.5kg. We also had blood tests on Saturday to double check all our stuff before we embark on our 5th cycle. As I only get one decent embryo at the end, I had 12 viles of blood taken on Sat - 12! It was insane and I felt like a pin cushion as she did 11 and then realised after she pulled the needle out she needed one more! Gees!
Otherwise, we are doing well. Thinking of everyone and massive hugs to all. Sorry this is so impersonal, will try to log on later to do inviduals.
Posted 29 March 2012 - 09:16 AM
Hi everyone, hoping I can come and join you.
Zoe - good luck in your wait after your transfer.
dreams - well done on the weight loss thats amazing. I wish I could loose some weight but I just cant seem to get it to move.
I have been reading back to see where everyone is up to and whats happening.
I would love to move overseas or interstate, actually I would just love to cut contact with everyone thats not immediate family or my husband but dont think that will work. 2 announcements in 3 days from your 2 best friends and only when they are starting show kind of is the last straw.
I am coming to the end of another failed transfer cycle. I had a Lap in February and was just a tad bit hopeful that that might help. Again it didnt. Oh it helped in that the spotting I use to get around dpo10 is now gone and it looks like I am having a normal LP but thats about it.
We just got bank account shock as well from the amount back from medicare for this FET cycle. My DH is furious with the amount we still have to come up with to pay dad back (we use my dads cc to pay for cycles and then pay him back).
So we are going on a break. I have an appt with a new FS & new clinic on 2nd May, I will probably be into the first or second week of the next cycle by then and still on Femara but no big deal. I take Femara as without it I wont O and the FS wanted me on it even when not doing a cycle so I have normal cycle lengths.
I have rung up and asked to go on a cancellation list so hopefully they get something. I have rung my old dr and asked for copies of my IVF cycles so I can take them with me. I have copies of all my bloods at home from Feb and I have photos of my Lap from Feb.
The only thing I cant understand is he said my right tube is completely blocked but he didnt remove it, why leave it? I am starting to think we have implantation issues as on dpo7, or 2dp5dt I had a sore back all day and a really sore throat that cleared up by the next day and my temps have all be consistently good etc but again BFN.......

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you're all enjoying your weekends! Only 4 more days of work then a long weekend Obviously I'm super excited about it because we fly out on Friday!
leebec - welcome! Sorry you've had another unsuccessful cycle. It sucks.... Here's hoping a new FS will be able to change things up a bit and get you the results we all want!!! Sometimes a break is god too. I had a disastrous cycle in January so we decided to take 4 or 5 months off, get my health sorted out and take a holiday. So far, it's done wonders for my head and my heart... and it hasn't hurt our bank account either!
mitch - I guess it's good that your DP doesn't have to sniff synarel! Good luck for this cycle - everything crossed for you!
Zoe - how did your transfer go? Hope the 2ww isn't sending you too insane! Here's hoping the IVIG has had a great impact on your body and your embryo's!
Spock - any news form your doctors - cardiologist, immnologists?? Hope you are well otherwise!
Spring - definitely make a holiday out of it! Hey, relaxing by the beach with a good book certainly wom't hurt the process!
DTR - that's some awesome weight loss results from both of you!! Well done!! 12 vials certainly will take it's toll on you! I had 11 or 12 taken last year, she had to go in 3 times - twice in 1 arm and once in the other because my veins weren't being cooperative and we weren't getting any blood! What was your FS checking for?
So... I'm just holding out for Friday! I'm beside myself excited about our trip... DH finishes up his job on Thursday which is exciting and scary at the same time and then we can just run away - for 5 weeks! It will be so good to get away from the world and relax and have fun together again!
Posted 02 April 2012 - 12:24 PM
BJ - only 3.5 more days now - wow!! This break will be such a great time for you and your DH to just have fun and do some amazing things. Enjoy!
hi leebec - sorry that you've had to join our group, but glad you found us. We all understand how you feel - I've done a stack of different treatments that seem to have great results, just not for me. : ( Hope you enjoy your month off before meeting with a new FS.
Zoe, how are you doing? hope the 2ww is going ok for you
Dreams, that is fantastic work on the weight loss front - well done! Were you getting all of the immune testing done?? I had a huge number of vials of blood taken for that & had to be on an empty stomach - I passed out after about 8 vials!
hi Mitch and Spock - how is everything with both of you?
I start lucrin this week, which I haven't used before - everything's getting closer which is exciting. I've been on the pill for the last couple of weeks and having bleeding, so not sure what's going on there. hopefully it will settle down soon. work's pretty busy - lot of short weeks now until we go away : )
Posted 05 April 2012 - 05:29 AM
Hey All being feeling very flat.
Not hopeful at all. I don't even think ivig will help me get my BFP, I dont think anything will help me for that matter. I think it just comes down to the right embryo, even transferring a perfect looking one doesnt mean anything!
I got no symptoms, and i get no symptoms pre af either. The universe really doesnt want me to have a baby, Im sure of that.
Posted 05 April 2012 - 04:14 PM
hi Zoe, sorry you are not feeling optimistic about this cycle.
Hope everyone has a great Easter - bring on the festival of chocolate and hot cross buns!
Posted 05 April 2012 - 08:08 PM
its a bfn for me, just did a hpt. saturday will confirm with bloods. if ivig cant get me pregnant then nothing will.
what a sh*t easter i will have:(
Posted 05 April 2012 - 11:19 PM
Oh Zoe, that sux
I hope you and your DH can spend some time together over the long weekend - Curl up with a block of chocolate (or other comfort food!) and a bottle of wine and block out the world for a while! It doesn't fix anything, but I do find it helps a little bit. Lots of cuddles too!
Well AF FINALLY showed up... cycle was 46 days! I even stupidly did a HPT at about day 42 - geez I can be dumb some times! Oh well.... I would actually now love another 46 day cycle, as that would get me through my trip with no AF!
Anyway - we fly out tomorrow - first stop Barcelona and surrounds! So much food and wine to be consumed!!!!
I hope everyone has a great, relaxing long weekend and see you all in 5 weeks!!!
Posted 10 April 2012 - 12:05 PM
Bjb, have a wonderful fun packed holiday. I know my holidays last year always perked me up ready to go again.
Zoe, I'm so sorry. You've done everything you can by the sounds of it to cover all the bases. Sending you many I wish there was something else I could do to help you. You are one brave resourceful woman.
Spring, how is the Lucrin treating you? Are you getting excited? Yes very different protocol and in Hawaii the clinic works differently too when it comes to updates etc. I found the progesterone injections to be horrible although you soon learn to just grin and bear them. When I tried one in my thigh I couldn't walk for 3 days, had to get wheeled around the airport for our flight back to Sydney. I steered clear of my thigh after that. I found the Hawaii clinic and donor agency staff really lovely and supportive.
Hi everyone else, hope you're all okay?
Well I've been mia as just been busy with doctors and fitting that into my life. So like Zoe I'm going to be doing an aggressive immune protocol involving Ivig on top of my usual cocktail of pred, clexane, prog injections. The regular immunologist couldn't find anything wrong which I guess is a good thing. I'm also now gluten free as found out this may help with immune issues but I'm going to check with my reproductive immunologist as its quite tough to do when I'm also strictly low gi. also going to see an Ashermans specialist to check my lining after 4 d&c's.
Then on top of that trying to live a normal life.
Posted 10 April 2012 - 01:39 PM
Zoe I am so sorry. I used to think that things happened for a reason, but not this - it's just crap. Saw your other post - I changed FS after 6 full IVF cycles. I was with one of the clinic's most experienced dr's, but he seemed to just want to keep trying the same things. I know it can be a numbers game, but he seemed like he had his formula, and we were clearly not an easy case. The nurses recommended one of the other FS's at the same clinic so I saw him. Straight away he did a lot more testing, and every cycle he's tried very different things - he's a lot more experimental. He's also done a lot of work with immune issues, so that was one of the first things he tested me for. I think it's definitely worth getting another opinion. Hope you are doing a bit better now.
BJB - enjoy your holiday - we'll be thinking of you (they'll be very jealous thoughts!!)
spock - thanks for the tip about the projesterone inj's - I'll be avoiding jabbing anything in my thigh! Can't you do those into your tummy like usual? I think the lucrin is making me more "erratic" and really upsetting my sleeping. Did it affect you? It's good news that there have been no issues found with all your testing - frustrating as well, but it sounds like you've got a good plan for your next tfr. Hawaii is now getting really close - we go at the end of the month! Very excited, but also pretty scared. Excited that this might finally work, but terrified that it's the last option we have so if that doesn't work....Anyway, can't think like that - it will work, it WILL work
hi to everyone else out there - hope you're all well
Posted 12 April 2012 - 10:36 AM
Hey all, I've been lurking and hoping for good news.
DP started injections last night (Gonal F) and then is due to start the second lot of injections (instead of Synarel) this coming Sunday.
I really hope this is it!
Good luck all x
Posted 12 April 2012 - 03:41 PM
hiya mitchp, glad to see you back. I've wondered how you and your DP are going. Good luck with the cycle - I assume you're talking about orgal injections. Apparently these can work better than syneral in terms of egg numbers (I only did 1 syneral cycle and it was a complete dud), but the needles are pretty blunt so it's a nasty injection. Fingers crossed this is the change you need for a BFP!
AFM - I don't think lucrin is agreeing with me - haven't been sleeping and generally feel crappy. made myself go to the gym and ride my bike today - hope some exercise helps.
hi to everyone else - hope you're all enjoying the short week
Posted 16 April 2012 - 09:00 AM
Hey all, Spock you are correct - very blunt needle on that second one
Started that one last night along with the Gonal F but DP is feeling a lot better this time around and no bruising so far which is great.
How is everybody else travelling?
We caught up with friends yesterday and their 7 week old baby - went ok surprisingly, I didn't hold the baby as she fell asleep on my DP and I didn't want to disturb her, so I played with another baby that was there - 1 years of age. So that was fun.
Good luck all x
Posted 16 April 2012 - 01:36 PM
** M/c and kids mentioned**
I've been MIA for ages, so flat out re-painting and re-carpeting my house, trying frantically to tart it up and be ready to either sell or rent as we've found a new, larger home that would be perfect for us. So if the bank agrees, we could be moving into a less squishy abode and the kids could actually have some space of their own. So I've been frazzled, covered in paint and grot, exhausted, cranky beyond belief on now double doses of Synarel(FFS!!!!).
Zoe- how are you going? I'm so sorry about your BFN Now that Easter has passed, have you got a plan as to what your next steps will be? I would certainly be considering a 2nd opinion if your current FS isn't willing to think outside the box.
BJBubbles-I hope you're having a fab time gallivanting around and enjoying all that awesome food and wine
Spring08- how are you feeling now with the Lucrin? And when's your EPU? I like it when I'm cycling (well, I don't actually "like" it) b/c I feel as if I'm finally on a trajectory towards my dreams again. At least it's better than just sitting around and wishing for a baby
Spock-your list of med's and treatments made my head spin! The fact that you can still go to work and function like a normal person after all that is amazing. So have you had any feedback yet regarding the next steps with the ivig? Some of my family are gluten-free and I am currently not actually gluten-free, but am on a very low gluten diet as I'm on a hardcore low-carb diet to lose a stack of weight before the fibroid operation in mid-May. If you are into baking and vegetarian GF meals, I can forward you some nice recipes if you like.
Mitchp-keep on keeping on, Mitch. It's great to hear your DP is travelling well with the med's right now. I know what you mean about seeing friends with babies. My friend had a baby the same week I had my m/c, and now her DS is about 4mths old. I finally saw her and her DS for the first time a few weeks ago, after dodging seeing her all that time. I was really worried about how I would react seeing her DS, but it turned out to be great seeing them both and I held her DS and he was gorgeous. I'm not sure if I'm emotionally healing or just still emotionally numb from the m/c, but it was nice holding her DS, but other than that, I had no particular emotion about it.... that sounds weird doesn't it? It's a whole tornado of emotions, I suspect, but I'm choosing to ignore them all....
Hi big hi to Countrymel and our other Long Haulers
AFM- well, I've lost about 15kgs on my low-carb diet and I feel better for it. It's not a sustainable eating plan (20g carbs a day) but it good for me as it's easy once you get over the physical freak-out your body goes through when you cut out all sugar and most carbs. But at least it works and I feel less awful seeing my dr's as I continue to lose the weight. My operation will be in mid-May so am gearing up for that biggie, and then the extensive recovery. My FS doubled my Synarel to 4 sniffs a day, and so my headaches and grouchiness has peaked and it's been hard on my the kids and my DP. But we're hanging in there and are close to the end now I can stop the Synarel when I have my op. YAY!!!!!!

Feeling really down today, ladies. As mentioned in my previous post, I've been waiting to find out what date my fibroid surgery will be. Well, today I found out. It's scheduled for 9th of May. The thing is that I was due to give birth to Gabe on 9th of May So I'm going into hospital for a c-section styled operation but not coming out with a baby. I feel like depression has tumbled on top of me like an avalanche
So then I spoke to my IVF clinic later today and they told me that since I may have another EPU in the future, that I could use more donor sperm from Gabe's donor so they could be full siblings, rather than starting from scratch and having to chose yet another anonymous donor. While that news is great from the clinic and I'm very happy with their offer, it devastated me nonetheless to think Gabriel was a real, live baby, not just a surreal nightmare that I watched in a movie about someone else's life.......
I know there's lots of silver linings in all of this, but I'm just not feeling it right now.
Posted 18 April 2012 - 05:40 PM
Hi ladies, I actually wrote a huge post yesterday and then lost it somehow. And here I am thinking I'm an early adaptor of technology.
Libra, that does seem like very sad fate to be having your surgery on gabe's due date. Sending you many hugs in sympathy. You have every right to feel all the emotions of this special day.
Mitchp, fingers crossed for you and your dp. You guys must be in a good place as you were okay around the baby. Hopefully all will keep going smoothly this time.
Bjb, bet you're having a ball of a time. I am very envious.
Spring, I'm pretty sure my adverse reaction to injecting my thigh was a very rare occurrence so hopefully you'll be okay. One tip, you might find it useful to get the nurse at the Hawaii clinic to show you exactly where you can have the prog injections so you'll avoid hitting any nerves. I had so many mixed feelings too. It seemed all very surreal in Hawaii itself, such a funny reason to go there isn't it instead of a regular holiday.
Hi everyone else, hope you're all travelling as well as can be expected if you're in this bg.
So I'm now just on a strict low gi diet as one of my plethora of doctors has taken me of the gluten free. Phew! Who knew I would miss real tasty bread so much. So I've been pretty good with the low gi. Seeing my cardiologist next Friday for a stress echo hoping all will be okay so I can actually do some exercise. Also going to see an Ashermans specialist to check I have no scarring issues seeing I have now had 5 d&c's. so far, if all goes o plan I'll be heading to Hawaii at the start of July for an fet. We have decided that if I have another unexplained m/c that will be the end of this road for us. I don't want to keep losing babies without any reasons for this. So we have a lot riding on July.
Posted 19 April 2012 - 10:24 AM
Oh libra, I am so sad for you and that terribly painful "anniversary" & news around your donor. Please make sure you have lots of advice & care before during & after your time in hospital. I know your DP has been so supportive through everything and talking to a counsellor-type will also help I hope.
Spock, glad to hear you can munch on yummy bread again. I had some white bread the other day which I rarely have and boy it tasted good !! Hope you're feeling well for being on the diet. Good luck with your next appts. I read on another forum of a person who has ashermans, and ongoing m/cs (including with donor eggs), let me know if you want me to PM the link.
Mitch, good luck for the cycle !
BJ, hi, sounds like you're enjoying yourself.
Hi to zoe, spring, countrymel, halby & everyone else.
I also wanted to say I'm not sure whether I'm a help or hindrance in this group, and I absolutely won't be offended if anyone suggests/posts the latter. Just know that I do lurk regularly & wish with every bone in my body that there's good news for everyone as soon as possible.

hi libra, that is horrible timing. I am so sorry. Hope you're getting lots of support
spock, good news that you can return to bread (don't know how I'd cope without it-yum!) Hope the rest of your tests go well and you're on track for a FET in July.
mitch, how are you and your DP doing? I image EPU must be early next week or so?
zoe, how are you going? Have you made a decision about seeing another FS? Hope you are feeling a bit better.
BJB if you're checking in at all hope you're having the best holiday - I'm sure you can feel our jealousy!
hi Liltuss, I'm ok with you popping in and continuing to offer us some support and hope. It does feel like we only drift off from this group when we're out of hope so it's nice to know it can work - even for us. Hope everything is going well with you.
AFM, 1 week until we fly to hawaii for our DE cycle. Wow. As you've said Spock, it's weird trying to think of it as a holiday - and strange to pretend to people that it is!
