DSQ Endless Waiting

Hi, we had our initial assessment with DSQ at the end of last year (for my two ASD boys) so we can get on the books to access services, and have heard nothing since. In that time my other two children have been diagnosed with ASD as well. I called DSQ today to try and find out the status of our assessment, and they assured me that they couldn't give me any information at all regarding our progress, they had no idea how many were on the wait list for home assessments, that it could take weeks or months, my guess was as good as theirs, no they couldn't find out, and I'd probably hear from them eventually.
Meanwhile we're unable to access any services that others (who got onto Charity's books before DSQ took over allocation of assistance last year) are merrily using, it's slightly frustrating. I've contacted many Charities and they cannot provide us with assistance until we get through the DSQ process.
Anyone else in endless DSQ Limbo!?

Yes. I don't know if you are caught in the same mess that we are caught in--what kind of funding are you trying to access? Anyone hoping for a Family Support Package or an Adult Lifestyle Support package is in for a really long wait. I have been told by several people who should know that half the people assessed in the last year went onto the Register of Need and nobody, absolutely nobody on the Register has been funded. The rest of the people apparently didn't even make it onto the Register. We did get a casemanager who is supposed to help us network to community supports for my older son who is 18. He was assessed last August and we had DSQ make contact in early April.
There is supposed to be block funding floating around according to rumour but who holds it, who gets to access it and how it works is a mystery to me.
Where are you? You don't have to use a charity for your funding, there are NGOs out there doing brokerage.

We are still waiting too
We got assessed in December last year. I have completely lost hope that we will ever get anything.
Thankfully we are receiving some respite once a month for DS1 though westcare.

Not yet, still waiting to be assessed. I wasn't aware we needed to register with DSQ, seeing we've been with FECS for the last 4 years. The only reason I contacted them was my son has aged out of FECS. It's all very strange.

Which office are you through? We just got moved last year from the mt Gravatt office to the south Brisbane office and they work do much faster!! We got our approval today for block funding for respite.
We initially registered with DSQ and had our initial assessment through Mt Gravatt 18 months ago and never got anywhere. Had another initial assessment with the South Brisbane office in Feb and saw the support worker today who confirmed we have been approve for block funding for respite and she has found an agency to provide it.
