Kidneys are killing me! Hopefully the antibiotics kick in soon. I think I will have to make tomorrow my rest day.

I think there's a lot more to weight and weight loss than just calories. ie GI and blood sugar levels and the proportion of fats v proteins v carbs v alcohol calories and time of eating in relation to sleep/exercise.
And of course it's worth a try. It's good to shake up the system a bit. If you always do what you've always done.... and all that.
As for me. Didn't have a great weekend. Was in pain, stiff neck, sore back. ate a lot to compensate. shrug. I needed to comfort myself. It would be nice if I was so emotionally and mentally evolved that I could recognise what I was doing at the time.
Anyway, I had my "other" Mother's Day gift arrive from America - a pile of Yoga DVDs. I am so excited. I took them to bed last night just to sit there and stroke them.
I still intend to do all my other DVDs before this challenge is over - but I need more yoga in my life. It's good for me.

I keep trying to get into yoga, but it's boring LOL
ETA - am starting up C25K again after my bout of illness

You're doing it wrong Symone! Yoga's good for your body and your mind (and it's the only thing I'm better than my DDs at on the wii!)
Hope you're feeling OK Lex. I'm battling another cold so not feeling very energetic again this week. Would like to be over it all and get some energy back.
Hi to everyone and hope you're still on board!

Triple treat- it is awful being sick! Hope you are better soon. I couldn't run again today, but I did a few push ups and sit ups and arm weights and I have taekwondo tonight.
Symone- I like yoga, especially the relaxation stuff, but I don't have time for it. My focus is still on weightloss and toning.
GIO- hope you are feeling better.
Mum was telling me not to lose more weight as my face is getting lined. I agree it is and now I understand why young celebrities get face fillers, cos you can't be super thin without losing fat in your face and looking gaunt. The thing is, I am not super thin, just getting older. So now I have to choose between lined face or wobbly arms and tummy! I am still aiming for 52, I can always get fatter again!
Good luck everyone!

Well this is slow going but at least still heading in the right direction!
This week I will be trying to watch what I eat (and drink!) over the weekend. Hopefully it will make a difference.
Lex I thought my skin was looking pretty good for my age: turned out I needed new glasses!

I'm still around and still eating wellish. I have lots of food issues and they have just gone a bit crazy of late. I am covered in a rash and have a wicked all day stomachache. Sucks but it does stop me eating processed food at all. So I can see I am losing weight but my scales are stuffed AGAIN. I seriously have the worst scale luck!
I buy moderately priced ones and end up with them going funky after about a year. I don't keep them in the bathroom either, so they aren't getting damp. I am going to buy a new battery, even though they are supposed to last for a very long time. Each time I step on them I weigh different random weights. Frustrating!
So I don't know what I currently weigh but my abs are coming out more and more, so I presume my weight is still headed down. I will buy the new battery today and weigh in as planned tomorrow and see if I like the numbers
Lexillotti-hope you are feeling better by now.
GIO-I like yoga but I can't seem to motivate myself to do it at home. I lose interest and turn it off! I hope you are feeling better now.
Triple Treat-Well done with the loss. I hear you on the weekends. It's small miracle when I eat well all weekend.

Actually I'm really enjoying this yoga.
This is the pack I got - so 11 dvds in total. And what has finally clicked for me is that yoga should be harder each time you do it - because you work more on the correct posture each time and try to improve on the asanas.
Anyway, what I particularly love is the meditations. I bought them on VHS years and years ago and even put them onto cassette so I could listen to it when I was on the train. I used the meditation through all four of my pregnancies, so I'm really happy to have it on dvd.
I'm still determined to get through all my other dvds though, and thus far I've completed 18 of 32.
Food wise - I struggle a bit. Wish I wasn't such a good cook. LOL. We did that cider tin chicken from Masterchef on Sunday - OMG delicious with spotted d1ck dessert and then last night goat curry and DH did sticky date pudding.

im still around. I havent been feeling great lately, I think I had a gastro bug thing & I have spent a lot of the last week on the toilet. Better now though, so back into focus.
I havent been doing too much exercise this last week. I have still been trying to walk to school though & we went on a walk & bike ride with the kids last weekend. I ended up giving DD1 a running piggy back for about 1 km, so I think I did pretty well with that & best of all my pelvic floor held up!
The last couple of weeks I have been doing a big grocery shop on the weekend to last us the week, with only one shop mid week for bread & milk. I have found this has helped me to curb impulse buys like chocolate, cakes or bread rolls, better for the budget too.
I have a dvd of a yoga/pilaties combo which I quite enjoy doing. I find im much more relaxed after doing it, as long as I dont get interrupted during the dvd. I also feel more toned when I do it reguarlly.
My stomach is still my problem area & now I keep getting told that I will always have a rounded tummy because I had a caeser, does anyone know if there is any truth to this?
Posted 30 May 2012 - 10:46 AM
I don't know absolutely if it's true, but I don't know anyone who had a c/s and has a perfectly flat tummy - then again there aren't too many of us who had natural births and have flat tummies either. LOL.
Simply because pregnancy stretches all those ligaments and muscles and then when they are so stretched they are ready to pop, they get cut. So not only do you have to work at getting the muscles to snap back into place but you have to get them to attach back to each other.
I think also that people's definition of a flat tummy varies from person to person.
This article suggests that the scar adheres to stuff behind it which means it can't allow fat under neath it so the fat accumulates on the sides, hence the apron - but they are also promoting surgery, so they don't want to say you can do it naturally.
Some people might consider the photo of that tummy on that page to be a flat tummy, others would say
this photo is a flat tummy.
I keep dreaming that after four full term pregnancies in my 30s that my tummy will be able to show off a six pack once more. LOL. I have a slight diastasis which is still there two years after last baby, so not easy for me either.

Been a bit quiet around here.
imamumto3- i hope you feel better soon.
I haven't had a cs but I have had 3 kids and I am not sure if my stomach will go back flat again without the rest of me having to be skeletal. That being said, my SIL and her best friend are both 40 and they both wore skimpy costumes to a party I went to recently, and they both have flat tummies and good abs! One runs about 100k a week though and the other exercises all the time.
Hi GIO! maybe you should try to cook a bit more crappily!
Tripletreat- you are still going in the right direction!
I have been a bit disheartened because i am just hovering around the same weight. I am better now and can exercise again so hopefully that will help. i just want to hurry up and lose the last few kilos so I can just maintain! I ran today, but just for 30 mins.
Ok, How about everyone posts their exercise and diet goals for the next two weeks- that might get things on track!
I will do a Jillian DVD and taekwondo tomorrow and run Friday and Saturday. Next week, I will do bootcamp, a DVd, run 4 times and taekwondo twice. I will try to limit my lolly/choc/biscuit intake to 1 lindt square a night, except for the party I am going to on Saturday.

I thought I was looking pretty good so I weighed myself yesterday and 55.4kg
I always am contented when I'm at 55 or so.
Anyway, then I went and drank a bottle and a half of wine last night - LOL - Oh, and had too many vomit stories from my weekend. Oh, not me, the kids. (Un) fortunately I kept all my wine down, so no purging of the calories there unlike Lexilotti the other week.! Hahaha.
So the next time I weigh myself will be when I've finished the final DVD. I only have 12 to go. Problem is tthat a lot of them are Shreds/Ripped in 30 which are just too high impact for me at the moment. So they have the dread factor for me. Oh and some of the incredibly tedious Aerobics Oz Style - the types I have only ever got 10 min into before when I had to turn them off coz I was yawning and the heartrate had cllimbed to a grand total of 62.
Gonna try to do some yoga everyday this week, as well as a walk everyday.
Posted 04 June 2012 - 08:39 PM
Just me again.
Got my walk in, just a shortie, but a walk nonetheless.
Will pop on one of my 20min Yoga dVDs soon. got a Ripped in 30 in today, but had to modify a lot, my knees hate Jillian.
I have been looking into Paleo/Primal food. Interesting stuff. I couldn't do it all out, but could afford to cut out some dairy and some carbs. Still just having a think about it at this stage.
Posted 06 June 2012 - 09:06 PM
Two lots of yoga today. No walk though, unless you count the trip through the shopping centre.
just checking in.
Posted 09 June 2012 - 11:53 AM
LOL - Am I the only one left here?
The moving ads annoy me so I haven't been spending much time here.
Facebook is worse though, as they have flashing ads that hurt my eyes - so I'm not going there very much either.
Planning on doing one of my dvd's today, so that'll knock another one off.

Still here but not very active!
Taking time out as I had a skin cancer removed on Monday under general anesthetic, it was close to my eye. Seems avoiding getting sunscreen in your eyes by not applying it too closely is a bad idea! Comes back to haunt you later on.
Can't wait to get rid of the dressing from my face and the stitches out, it's really annoying.
Then no more excuses for the last few weeks of the challenge!
Posted 10 June 2012 - 11:28 AM
TT- Oh dear. I know what you mean, Sunscreen in the eye is horrible sting, so I never go too close either. Hope you heal nice and quickly.
Well yesterday I did two of my DVDs:
Winsor Pilates for buns and thighs. This was a bit boring and you are supposed to use a special rubber band that I don't have coz I just found the DVD in an op shop in Katherine or Darwin or somewhere like that. But it's a good workout for the lower body for the days you've already had a shower so you don't want to sweat it out.
10 minute solutions for abs - Didn't like the woman, too cheeful. So kept skipping forward.
Additionally I downloaded Raquel Welch's Bikram Yoga off youtube and did that as well yesterday. Had the heater on to a comfortable level, not the stifling heat of a real Bikram studio. It was nice - no down dogs which I've been doing too many of lately and have bothered my weak wrists.
I think I have 11 of my DVDs to go. I am dreading one called "heat in your feet"
Read the two reviews. They hate it as much as me.
It is lead by this really old wrinkly lady who wears these nasty outfits and Oh, dear, It's so sad. I've tried to do it a few times coz I thought it might be like zumba, but it's just horrible. So, anyway, I will try to work up the courage to do this all the way through.

Hi, Just me again.
I did a yoga DVD today (one from my collection, not one of the new ones) and a meditation DVD. So that's two I knocked off in one day.
Hubby has been away with the kids but they are all home now, so won't get much time to myself like the last few days. Eating went really well. Overdid the wine on Sat night, but I never set my standards so high that I don't ever think I'll drink or eat a sweet again in my life.
Wrist is still sore. Even typing hurts it.
I'll try to get the Aerobics Oz style yoga tomorrow and skip any planks/downdogs if they are in it. Otherwise I've still got a few levels of Ripped to do, but it's a bit hard to modify all her plank work.

Hi GIO looks like we're the last ones standing lol. And only one of us is exercising! Hoping to get the stitches out of my face tomorrow and get back to venturing out of the house (been hiding over a week now!).
Let you know how the exercise is going later in the week. Plan on getting back to the treadmill so I'll see how I go.
Posted 11 June 2012 - 08:24 PM
im still here!
I havent been doing much exercise, the weather hasnt allowed me to walk to school as often as I would like & I have had a lot of work so I havent been able to do the Wii at night.
For a plus though, I have been eating better, as has DH which helps. WE have made a pact not to buy junk food or ice cream for June & I hav e noticed we are both eating more fruit.
TT- I hope you get up & at it again soon, how scary for you.
Gio - Well done on the updates & the dvds
I have some added motivation now, we have decided to get some family portraits done for mils birthday so I want to look good!
Posted 11 June 2012 - 09:43 PM
I'm here! I have been away! Since Friday I have run 5.2 km x 3 and also 12k. Drank and ate heaps though so not expecting the scales to be good! Ah well, tomorrow is a new day!
Posted 12 June 2012 - 01:47 PM
Oh yah! Company!!!
TT - take it easy. Remeber to ask what's the best thing to do to help the scarring. My mum usually has a Vit C cream when she gets skin cancers taken from her face. Plus another specal cream she rubs on a few times a day for the first few months after.
Also diet is important, lots of Vit C & E and good oils.
Ima - It's so hard when the hubby isn't on board isn't it. I know I've subconsciously sabotaged some of his weight loss efforts over the years "Hey hun, I feel awful. If you make your chocolate pudding, I'll feel so much better"
And I know because he is such a greedy guts that I have to polish off all the good stuff in the house at once, or else he or the kids will get it. LOL. So he sabotages my efforts too.
Good motivation with the portraits. Keep it up!
Lexi - hope you had a nice time away. I've taken the kids away the last three years on QB but hubby did this year which was nice.
Me - Did Raquel Welch yoga this morning which isn't on the DVD list, since it's a download. But I'm hoping to do the AOS yoga very soon. Then I'll walk up and get some milk and grab the kids. Still can't do anything hard core coz of the sore wrist.
Can't believe I'm nearly done.
Can't wait actually, coz there's a rotation I really want to do, but I can't do it til I've finished this one. I don't like to quit something once I've set out to do it.
Plus I get to weigh myself when I'm done.
Posted 13 June 2012 - 10:45 PM
Another DVD ticked off. mostly Jillians left now.
Oh, I forgot to tell you about the stupid AOS dance one with the old lady that I was absolutely dreading. Pop it on, determined to finish it this time. As usual ten min in, I'm bored out of my brains, so I went for a walk to the shop and bought a botttle of milk. Come home, the DVD is still going, make myself a cuppa and finish it in time to do the cool down stretches. Ta Dah!
How long of this challenge to we have left?
I don't think I'm gonna be at 52, but 54 or lower would be really nice!
Posted 14 June 2012 - 09:15 PM
I did a Jillian today- bfbm. And taekwondo tonight- it was tiring. I am trying a different way of eating- more protein less carbs. Not very revolutionary I know but I have never one it before. I do feel fuller longer. It is a bit tricky being vegetarian though- might end up a bit gassy! Challenge ends 30 June. I am not doing well!
