OK finally I am on paper overload once again. I have my favourite recipes printed or written out and shoved in no order (just all together) in the front of an A5 recipe book I bought years ago that has tabs and blank sections to write your favourite out. There are only about 4 pages per tabbed section and it's very Americanised so I have never really started to use it, just crammed all my snippits in the front lol.

Now it is just beyond overflowing and I need desperately some way to organise my recipes. I downloaded some recipe software the other day as I thought that would be good but you cant even print and I figure what's the point unless you move your compuer to the kitchen bench lol.

When I am next up at d*ck Smith I will pop in and see what software is available to purchase but in the meantime I'm after some solutions on organising recipes. How do you do yours?

I have my recipies in clear A4 binders (u know the ones with the hard covers and the clear plastic sleeves?)

Anyway i have a few of these, one for baby-toddler food, one for mains, one for desserts ect.

This also lets them stay clean as mess wipes off with a cloth.

Those recipie books that u were talking about are fairly hopeless. They fall apart and get filthy!!

Same as jordiesmum, I have the A4 clear binders too and for
all my cooking mags and books (other than the nice coffee
table ones) I went to IKEA and got some office magazine files
that are wooden with silver inserts and have them in the
kitchen shelves - it looks good, if I do say so myself Tounge1.gif

life's learnings never stop...
i don't have mine organised really (any from a few years ago are but then i got slack!)

i was in a few yahoo cooking groups and they all raved about Mastercook. I think the latest version is a bit pricey but you can pick up an older version on ebay or in harvey norman for not much at all, about $10?

I have literally had 15 years worth of snippeted recipes and when we last moved house I sorted them all out into catergories and bribed DH with sexual favours to laminate them all & they now are all in ring binders: nice and easy to wipe clean, in my kitchen shelves.

Having said the collection is growing again and I have scruffy bits of paper overflowing again, so it may be time to bribe DH again......

I have those folders with the plastic pockets built-in, and each pocket has a theme like lamb, poultry, puddings, stews, etc. I have more than one pocket for each category, then when I cook I can just put the folder on my book stand thingy with the recipe in the pocket so it doesn't get dirty.

Thanks so much guys for all the info. Looks like I'll have to get to typing some of my snippets out and buy a few plastic pockets.

Karen thanks I had not heard of that software. Saw a few on Ebay too. Still want to check d*ck Smith or Harvey Normans out as they usually have this type of stuff to see what is around.
