DH and I got given a Raco frypan two years ago as a wedding present but now the teflon is peeling and mixing in with our food - time for a new one I think!

Any recommendations?

Ive just been through this with my old Scan Pans (don't recommend them)

I preface this next bit by saying I am a pan snob, and a kitchenware snob.

I bought a frying pan (large and deep) for $20 from Kmart 6 months ago to take camping, thinking i would throw it away afterwards or it could be the "camping" pan.

I have used it everyday since!!!

I have almost decided never to buy expensive frypans again and just keep getting cheap ones and replacing them as they get worn.

Second the PP. I bought a stainless steel, heavy bottomed pan from Bug W ($50) 3 years ago. Brilliant! I love that when it's hot, nothing really sticks and you can scrub it with steel wool if something does get stuck.

I'd get an arcosteel one, Big W and Target sell this brand and my mother has a set of Arcosteel saucepans that have lasted her nearly 30 years. I purchased and Arcosteel Wok just after moving in with my now husband and it is a dream to use.

After years of having stainless steel frying pans (mostly scanpan which were ok but my large one warped really quickly), last year I cracked and bought two Circulon non stick ones.

I'm never buying non stick again. These are pretty good quality and not the type that peels (not teflon) so I thought they would be ok. The problem is, you can't heat them unsure.gif my large one has been used to cook steaks etc and is no longer non-stick. They did warn me at the shop I bought them that you shouldn't 'over' heat them, but given they are labelled as oven safe to 400 degrees I figured they'd be ok for frying.

I've since found plenty of reviews online from others saying similar. Next time I'm going to try something else.

We got a Jamie Oliver one during the Myer post Christmas sale. Love it! Sales assistant seemed very knowledgeable and said it is less prone to scratching and peeling than some of the other top shelf brands (including tefal, I think).

We spent a few hundred dollars on a Swiss Diamond frypan and grill pan. Expensive but 18 months later they still look new, not a mark on them

This is the range we have and it's great.... I'll never buy another non-stick pan ever again. Hate the bloody things.

My Mum has also had this range for as long as I can remember and it's still going strong.

Oh and the brand are always having 50% specials in lots of different stores so shop around. original.gif

Edited for more info. original.gif

I have Analon and swear by it! Love it and have had it for over 10 years! And light!

Having said that though my sister has the Jamie Oliver Tefal ones and although heavy, I love the way they cook the food!!!

I am at the stage of almost needing to replace my frypan and am trying to decide whether to get another analon or try the Jamie Oliver ones

Good luck!
