I got my Kindle today and have plugged in the proivded cable to my computer and the tv to charge it but it is not working. Has anyone else had this problem? I can only conclude that as the manual say it may not be a powerful enough source to charge it. Does this mean i need to get a charger? I was hoping i could use the computer or tv. Hopefully there is not something wrong with it all ready.

Any advise is appreciated.

When I plug my kindle into the computer, the kindle won't charge until I've disabled it on the computer. Is there an icon on your task bar asking you to remove hardware? If so, click hat, then the kindle should charge.

Are you sure it's not working?

They take a loooooong time to charge (but go for ages between charges) so it may look like nothing's happening.

You really shouldn't need anything but the USB cable for it.

Alternatively, could it be the USB port? Mine sometimes put themselves to sleep when the computer goes to sleep but don't wake up when I start using it again. A computer restart fixes this.

now I'm standing here, my heart so full I can't explain
You have to "eject" it.
Safely remove hardware etc
Once it is disable as a drive it will charge.

I like them sweet.
What phone do you have? Does it also charge with the micro USB? Most phones uses that now (most android devices + Blackberry) so you can use that and it'll charge faster.

Or if you have an iPhone charger, just unplug the USB and plug in the kindle's USB and that'll charge as well.

I have been busy this afternoon and have just read this and i realised this when i went to charge my phone this afternoon. It wokred perfectly and showed the lightning bolt showing it was charging. I don't know why it did not work on my computer. Maybe i should have had the computer turned on? I had the computer chagring and thought this would do the job.
