everytime i make ds's bottles, the formula clumps and doesnt dissolve. ive tried putting powder then water, water then powder, hot water, cold water, shaking the bottles etc but its always lumpy and gets stuck in the teat so ds cant suck anything out. does anyone know how i can fix this?

also, its only been doing it since we started using lactose free formula. could this have something to do with it?

My brother and SIL used lactose free formula for their 2 lactose intolerant girls and they said that is was very difficult to dissolve. They had to use boiling water and a lot of very vigorous shaking to get it to dissolve properly. Anything less than boiling water just wouldn't work for them. They would make up a whole day's batch each night and put it in the fridge in individual bottles until it was needed, and throw it out if was older than 24 hours.

Hope this helps.

I had 2 lactose-free DS's. My trick was: lukewarm water in bottle, add LF formula, let it sink down and then swirl the bottle around (with the lid still off), keep swirling it as it helps to dissolve the formula, then after a minute of swirling screw the lid on and shake. Should be fine for you then.

What brand do you use? We used s26 LF for my eldest and it dissolved fine, had to shaken a bit more then my youngest's formula but it definitely dissolved fully.

I was going to say I never had an ounce of trouble with S26.

Do you have a magic bullet or a stick mixer? I'd use one of those to mix the formula original.gif

Room temp water always worked best for mixing the AR formula DS1 had, but even that took a lot of shaking. If i was in a hurry then I'd use the magic bullet to mix it original.gif
