Since I had my second child twelve months ago, I now weigh 2 kg less than I did before I became pregnant. I am busy, looking after my 2 active kids, picking up after them, doing the washin, cooking etc but it still surprises me that I have lost this weight without even trying. I'm not watching what I eat and in fact, eat ice cream or chips at least once a day.
Just wondering if anyone else is now slimmer than they were before having kids (I know, usually it's the opposite!). I'm even beginning to wonder if everything's OK with me and maybe I should get my health checked out.

Mum to two boys!! :O
It might be worth having your thyroid checked. An overactive thyroid can cause weight loss, also anxiety, jitteryness, insomnia etc. Thyroid problems are very common after having a baby. Its a simple blood test. original.gif Hopefully you are just lucky!!

Yep, I am. And my thyroid is fine (just had and everything else) checked. Maybe it's breastfeeding? Maybe I'm just eating differently to when I was working in an office? It's good though!!

I have always gone back to my pre-pregnancy weight easily, after I weaned the children.

DH finds it difficult to believe how easily I lose weight when he stacks it on eating the same, if not less and healthier, than me. He jokes that I lose weight just by watching others exercise.

I'm perfectly healthy and even though I eat a lot and not formally exercising, I am doing a lot of incidental exercise each day.

When I broke my foot, DH had to take over my duties. After a few days, he was complaining about how much he legs were hurting. I explained it was from the constant running around of keeping house and young children. Incidental exercise is a big key.

It's breastfeeding that has done it for me. I'm 4kgs lighter than pre-pregnancy, finally lost the last few kgs to get back to my ideal weight.

I'm worried about when DS weans as I've got into some bad habits with food again just because I can.

Ditto. Really should take advantage as I'm always overweight. But it's so nice to be losing weight while eating whatever I want.

I was the same - I was several kilos lighter after both kids vs before. I think breastfeeding was definitely a factor - I didn't change my eating habits (just didn't think to...I'm a creature of habit!) but probably should have been eating more to compensate, so I lost weight. I did slowly put a bit of the weight back on about 6 months after weaning (but was still lighter overall).

Same here after having my third - but not surprisingly - I was surviving on very little sleep and when I was awake, practically EVERY minute of EVERY day was spent rocking this child to sleep. I enjoyed the slimness for a couple of years before it slowly started to creep back on and toddler became much more settled wink.gif.

Same happened with my first and it was breastfeeding. I'm still carrying a couple of kilos more than I would like from my second though, even though he's still b'feeding.
