Hi all,

There was a big full page Ad in the Brisbane Sunday Mail on the 17th of June about Karicare and Karicare Gold formula.

Whilst I didn't read the entire thing, the general overview was that due to some government crap, Karicare and Karicare Gold maybe unavailable for some time beacause of the probiotics in it and something to do with classifications with food standards or something like that. It is perfectly safe to consume, I might add.

Having read this, I bought an extra tin and there was only 2 more left at my supermarket, so there maybe a shortage on the way. Doesn't help stock levels that Woolworths have it on special in my area either.

I'll try and have a look for the article and post it word for word it I can, this was just a heads up.

Its here and here. I PM'd a mod on Monday about it, cos I didn't think Recalls was where to post it, but haven't heard back yet.

I had thought initially it was just NSW and ACT, guess it goes a little further than that!

Don't forget to send an email to FSANZ and your state food authority to help get Karicare Gold back on the shelves!

BTW Karicare Toddler Gold is not affected, just Karicare Gold Starter and Karicare Gold Follow On

Thanks Sneep , that's exactly what I read in the paper. I wasn't sure where to post it, so I thought here might be a good place, even though it's not a recall.

I did read the emailing bit, but DH has thrown the paper out, but I'll definatley be emailing the FSANZ for sure. I'm using the Karicare Gold Follow on, so I think I'm gonna be in for some trouble when my supply runs out.

I know this is nearly 1 month old but the ti we have here at home is different to those pictured as well.... ours is GOLD1 and does NOT have a + on it...

I just got an email from Nutricia saying that Karicare Gold Plus is still going to be available. Now they tell me, after I bought 12 tins.. (ouch)

The old Karicare Gold tins (without the plus) are not affected (and aren't available any more once sold out) as they are the old stock with no prebiotics. Its only the Karicare Gold Plus starter and followon formula that was affected.

ANOTHER email from Nutricia today.. apparently in NSW only Karicare Gold Plus (Starter through to Toddler) will not be available, they are phasing out the supply of Gold Plus over the next few months and replacing it with the Karicare Gold that we used to get (same stuff minus the prebiotics).
