Fulltime Studying SAHM
Clare Im pretty sure Chris mentioned to myself and 3cheekymonkeys that he is currently trying to change that so it doesnt need to be done at all and he will change the unit itself....I think they deem it to be too difficult whilst studying externally to have a supervised prac. The three week block in Yr1 is still there though. HTH.

Still havent sent my application off, have decided to wait until STAT results come through by then Ill have my new printer. There is no limit on places so I should be right waiting.

Fulltime Studying SAHM
Also thought Id mention if you are all hoping to do it fulltime, its two units per SP (2nd year onwards is 4 units each in SP1 and SP3) myself and 3cheekymonkeys are studying the same units per SP, she will hopefully list them for anyone else who is keen to have someone to share the journey with. We thought if we chose the same ones at least we are on hand to support and offer assistance to eachother. Just a though!! So Helen pretty please can you type the list out it will take me ages to figure it out through my OUA login!!

I just realised that I forgot to answer:
How old are you?
How long since you've studied? I attempted one semester uni in 1996, so it's been a while.
How many children do you have? 2 girls (8 and 5months)
Are you planning to study full or part time? (full time for 2009 and then see how I go after that)
Which units are you going to do first?I've just enrolled in EDP135 and EDP133 for SP1
What are you most looking forward to? Getting into it and the first prac to make sure for certain that this is what I want to do.
What are you most nervous about? Managing 3 prac weeks with a baby.
What makes you want to be a teacher? Watching kids grow and improve over the 12 months and also thinking of fun ways to help educate them.
Which state are you from? SA

jm3 how do you think you will cope with a baby and prac? I am asking because I am still tossing up about applying.

Holly would only be around 1 for the 3 week prac and she still might be breastfeeding for the one week one if it still happens.

Childcare where i am isnt all that reliable i have been told. I might get a place for her for three weeks I might not. My mum might be able to help for a week but thats all so I would have to try and find someone else that could look after my kids while on prac if the daycare cant take them.

DH cant help at all during prac times. He is a teacher himself and finds it hard to get leave other than school holidays unless its for DD's tests.

I am tossing up over the BA via open at Griffith then the grad dip or just "biting the bullet" so to speak and doing the four year degree through OPEN and hope that I can organise prac adequately. I like the idea of full time but 2 units 4 times per year rather than 4 units 2 times a year.

arrrghhhh decisions decisions

clarebear1983 I know exactly how you feel. In the end I decided to go with full time study 2 per period and I'll "deal" with the prac if and when I come to it. Heck, in the meantime I might decide that teaching is not for me. DH convinced me to just go for it and worry about the details later.

I have the option of my MIL if all else fails though I would rather not.

I reckon why pay for an arts degree and a dip ed... why not just do it straight off the bat.

Good luck with your decision.
