Trust me... I'm a scientician
I have a sad looking lemon tree, any green thumbs out there to help?

It's a young tree, we planted it at the start of 2010. The last few weeks it's been looking progressively sadder, but now it looks terrible. The leaves are pale and yellowing, most of them are curling up and they are beginning to fall off. I've asked DH to pee on it, I've also given a hit of Seasol last week. I'm in Canberra so it's still quite cold and we're still getting light frosts in the morning.

Any tips to revive my tree? Thanks original.gif

Thanks! It's in the ground. Hmm, I did leave it a while without watering and without decent rain, hopefully that's all it is. This endless rain will hopefully help!

move along... nothing to see here
Water it. Don't overload it with pee or fertiliser.

Leaf curl usually affects stone fruits like peach. I spray mine with copper spray at least once a year before the buds open and that solves leaf curl (mostly). It's a miniature peach right next to our lemon tree and I've never seen leaf curl on the lemon tree.

Yellow leaves curling up and falling off doesn't sound good!

I too am wondering if it's in a pot? Does it get sun?

Steph

I know, doesn't sound good, or look good!

I meant to say also that I have been nipping off the beginnings of any fruits. It gets morning sun. I'll tell DH to stop peeing on it for now and keep up the water once the rains subside. It was a xmas present from my mum and dad and I really don't want it to die sad.gif

Does it have silvery lines on the leaves? It could have citrus leaf miner. I think you just take off the affected leaves and spray with pest oil.

If no silvery lines it could just be thirsty. Are you checking how wet the soil is by sticking your finger right into the soil?

Have you taken sample sick leaves to a good nursery for advice?

Don't fertilise a sick tree. The Seasol is a good idea though as it's a tonic rather than food.

Good luck. Lemon trees can be painful to keep healthy!

I weeded today and the soil was very damp after the rain we've had. I think it might've been a bit water deprived prior to that. I had no idea they needed so much water sad.gif I'll run some leaves in to a nursery to see what they think. Leaves are going more a brown colour so I'm not hopeful sad.gif

Thanks everyone for your advice though!
