If a cat doesn't like you, then what's wrong with you?
This season of Masterchef is looking particularly distasteful. So far the ads are pretty much bagging out women and stereotyping them all.

Anyway during Offspring the ad where Christina (the 1950s housewife) says "I'm your quintessential 1950s housewife with a lesbian twist". (In the ads screened at other times she has just said "with a twist".

I was a bit WTF?! Maybe I didn't hear it correctly.
I just think its bizarre and it makes me not want to watch the show at all.

Didn't anyone else hear it? Maybe I misheard?

So I did hear correctly, I too thought WTF is that about???
I really don't see what that has to do with cooking, or for that matter then gender wars they are running with this year

Pretty dumb hey? I looked on the site and she does have a female partner. Interestingly there is a male contestant who is an ex-insurance underwriter and he has a male partner but nothing is said about this (as that's how it should be).

Bizarre. Bizarre. Bizarre.

When I saw it it said 1950s housewife with a twist. Some like idolising 1950s clothes and ideals? Nothing wrong with that. It's her selling point, and channel 10s original.gif I don't think it's distasteful, I'd imagine that's how she put herself across in auditions and why she got picked.

I read in an article that she's a rockabilly housewife, lesbian with 2 kids.

A 'lesbian twist' just sounds stupid

I pressed rewind multiple times thinking I must have misheard her. But no, she actually says that. Extremely odd thing to put in an ad for a cooking show. The 50's housewife thing might influence her cooking style, but I fail to see what her sexuality has to do with the show.

I have always watched Masterchef but these ads are really turning me off this season.

Who gives a toss whether she is a lesbian or not? What does that have to do with her cooking skills?
First the gender bias and then this. Disgusting! Shame Channel 10. Shame.

Weird. Perhaps lesbians use a different cookbook. You know, one with spotted vag instead of spotted d*ck, stuff like that. rolleyes.gif What a stupid bit of advertising.

Their ads are all off-putting this year.

I always feel the urge to pelt something at the tv over the one that says the average woman cooks 1000 meals per year. What bollocks. I've never met a woman in my life who cooks 3 meals a day in a domestic capacity.

Nice to meet you *shakes hands* -- Subtracting for husband-cooked Sunday breakfasts, the extremely rare takeout, and dinners at family's, I probably rack up about 1015 or so biggrin.gif but I agree that I'm far from typical in that respect!

Clearly, I love cooking. I love cooking shows. The boy vs girl tripe on this one gives me the sick.gif
