Agreed dragonfly, there really is only a few that consistantly plate up great dishes. Hayden, Craig, Michael and usually Jay. Then a middle bunch where the majority are.
Grr, product placement - hello Masterfoods original.gif
Either Dani or Ellie for me too, and probably Dani.
Yep, Kumar soon too, and also Mat

I hope Ellie or Dani go...dont really like Jay but i think he just had a shocker, he has won a lot of times before and came close in the immunity challenge last week.
I agree with the crying thing. Glad it didnt get Ellie out of being in the bottom three. Loved some of the judges comments! "Strangely unpleasant"!

I think the judges dislike the contestants more than we do. They seem nasty, or in the case of the girl's slimey

Why don't the contstaants wear hair nets?

Mat's hair makes me cringe, I can't believe he and the girls don't have to have their hair pulled back or covered. Hayden could probably be added to that group too.

Almost all of those dishes last night looked wrong, especially that deep fried batter thing and the trifle!!!! I feel so sorry for the judges some times, imagine having to eat some of those things!

Edited because my first post made me sound like an uneducated git.

I am amazed that people apply to masterchef if they cannot cook desserts. Did they watch last years show? At some point they will need to show some impressive dessert skills if they are to make it to the final weeks. I don't care how pretentiously you can plate up a p!ssy piece of seafood Jake, if you can't make a batter WTF should you be the Masterchef?

2nd vent - I wish they would show a few more of the other contestant's food in the challenges like last night. When they only show the best 3 and the worst 4 it makes the end very predictable and unexciting. I would have loved a quick glimpse at what some of the others cooked last night.

I don't agree that Ellie was putting on the tears last night. She seemed genuinely shattered about her end result and the comments. The pressure and disappointment combined to create very real and raw emotion. I thought she actually looked really embarrassed to be crying. I really felt for her.

So much this! I would like to at least get some idea of what the others had cooked. I guess as the field gets smaller we will be seeing more of everyones dishes. I hope so any way... sad.gif

I think some were really thrown by the switch. It certainly added to the stress of the day. You certainly got a better idea some of the contestants (which I'm sure was why some baskets went where they did).

On Jay - I don't think he is a good general cook. He can do seafood but is over-reliant on it to the point it is almost a weakness (IYKWIM).

With the massaman curry a Thai place near us does Massaman curry with cashews not peanuts and I think it can be either so that isn't a hanging offence (doesn't explain the lack of potatoes though).

Who is Craig? I swear I only noticed him the other night. He really seems to be flying under the radar.

I think that's why I'm feeling so uninspired by this season. So much of each episode is filled with the people doing a crap job, and we're not seeing the middle of the road dishes that I probably wouldn't mind having a go at. I'm sure in previous seasons there has been at least a quick look at most of the dishes. Are they editing it for more drama?

I'm finding the Ski yoghurt product placements in the footage from the house painful too.

The guy doesn't know the basic ingredients for massaman curry!

Why should he?? Because he is from Sri Lanka?? I have cooked for a living and worked in a variety of places and I have no clue what goes in a massaman curry. laugh.gif

Jay - WTF was he doing?? If he didn't get it to work after 20 minutes why keep going in the hope it will get better?? He could have whipped up a cake or something, anything than serve up that mess.

I am glad he is in the bottom three. Being good at one type of food isn't good enough.

I wonder the same thing. It is the same on The Biggest Loser though, they know what can happen but when it does they are like "what the??" Tounge1.gif

I wonder this too! lol I am guessing perhaps because it is only them eating it?? lol When they have done challenges that involve food the public will eat they wear nets etc...
