So, if the end of the world was nigh, what would be your contribution to any group/tribe you hooked up with?

Mine would be cooking. I could turn my hand to gardening, too, but if my current backyard gardnening skills are anything to go by, we might be a bit hungry!

Now that I think of it...not much at all. DH does the cooking, I'm not a good gardener and I'm not handy. I don't ovulate naturally so I can't even be a 'breeder.' DH on the other hand would be awesome. He is an engineer so could rig up all sorts of nifty things and fix them.

Maybe my future tribe will not sacrifice and eat me so they can keep him?

If you're referring to a total collapse of civilisation, lets see...

I'm a fairly decent shot, if memory serves from my time playing with air rifles. I could keep orphan babies alive as a wet nurse, as presumably there would be no formula, bottles or sterilising. I'm fairly good at backyard vegie production, and can fish, scale, clean, gut, cook, etc. I can do basic knitting and sewing. I can play basic guitar and piano. My DP is a carpenter, who also knows motorbikes, engines, and everything I've mentioned above except the wet nursing.

I'm also pregnant, so I can produce the next post-apocalyptic Messiah, if needs be.

I would be an asset to a post apocalyptic community- I've made a study of pre-industrial handicrafts!


I can spin (roughly) and weave. I can also fashion a pretty basic drop spindle so wouldn't actually need spinning equipment with me.
I can also do basic knitting, bake a mean loaf of bread over a camp fire and know how to build a mud oven.
I've got basic first aid skills, am handy with a needle and thread and enough herbal knowledge that I could brew some basic medicines. Although if someone with better medicinal skill comes along I'll be more than happy to pass along anything involving blood to them, it's taken a LOT of work for me to get past the fainting at the sight of blood stage

We're actually a pretty well equipped household for worst case scenario. My husband can fashion basic traps and is a decent fisherman. He's also a good shot and is quite handy with pre-gunpowder weapons.
