So I noticed at lunch time, that my Kindle has two cracks in it running away from the bottom of the screen in the casing itself not the screen.
So I checked my warranty, great still a couple more months to go, jumped onto live web chat with Amazon Kindle Services. I explained what the damage was and that the Kindle lives in a padded case, they asked me if it had been dropped or any direct pressure put on it, I advised no, not at all. Guess what.... I have a brand new Kindle arriving next week. They are sending me out a free replacement, and paying for shipping for me to return the damaged Kindle back to them. All resolved in under 15 minutes, without having to make a single phone call. Just thought I'd share that Amazon are awesome to deal with and I did not purchase the Kindle from Amazon. If only all retailers were this great and easy to deal with. This post has been edited by jupiter123: 19/06/2012, 03:56 PM |

That's great!
I have to say that my dealing with Apple has been equally good. My new iPhone 4S wouldn't connect to wifi. I took it back to the Apple store (the store I'd bought it from had since shut down) and they replaced it immediately. |

Gotta love awesome customer service. And it's great you are telling people. Too often people pass on the bad comments and not the good.

Yep.
I had an similar experience with Amazon. Their customer service is excellent. Some Australian retailers need to wake up and learn a thing or two from them! |

My BIL had a similar experience. It was even his fault- he stood on his Kindle, broke the screen, and Amazon replaced the whole thing for free. So long as he put the broken Kindle in the post in the provided pre-paid box, the replacement was free. I guess if you didn't send it back they would just bill your Amazon account.

If only all retailers were this great and easy to deal with. This is exactly how it went with DH Kindle only it was damaged by DS sitting on it accidentally. All done via their chat feature too which I was very impressed with. Unfortunately I couldn't get the Kindle I bought from Big W replaced through them as I hadn't registered it on the Amazon site. So heads up if you bought one from Big W or d*ck Smith. Register it with Amazon as the hassle to go back through them is not worth it lol Jupiter123 - just be aware that the shipping is not done via Australia Post. The label they provide is to send back via DHL and you will need to take it to one of their shipping warehouses. This post has been edited by Beautiful Warlock: 27/06/2012, 07:47 PM |

Thanks BW, shipping was all done through UPS all I needed to do was box it up and call UPS when it was ready for delivery. UPS came to my work and did the pick up.

I had the same experience with my first kindle. They sent out the replacement and all was good.
Then the same thing happened again (the screen loses most of the print and nothing can be read except wonderful horizontal lines). The lady I spoke with, despite the kindle being out of the original warranty when I first purchased, I was sent a brand new one due to having the replacement less than 6 months and having the same thing happen again. Considering I was totally out of warranty, and it'd already been replaced once, I really wasn't thinking they'd help me out. Awesomeness! |
